  1. I agree that decisions should not be made by unprofessional people 'appointed' by nepotism. That is a serious problem with our system. The criteria that exist are not applied in any consistent way. Personal biases of the appointed adjudicators are rampant, evident in the wildly varying approval rates: Some adjudicators approve virtually no refugees. Others approve virtually all refugees. An incompetent system wildly out of control. Needs to be fixed. I will disagree with one thing he says: "It does not include in its definition people fleeing war or natural disasters." Then he says: "The core principle is that a genuine refugee can not be returned to a country that presents a threat to his life or freedom." That does include war and natural disasters. It has also been interpreted to mean women (and children) fleeing domestic violence, and people fleeing homophobic violence, where their country provides no safe refuge. The key is the evidence they can provide of both the threat and the lack of protection in their country. He's contradicting himself, and venturing into making the judgements himself. His opinions on that are irrelevant: The decisions should be made by qualified people, as he initially said.
  2. Nonsense. And making up lies doesn't please your God. Lol LGBTQ people defend themselves when attacked. Christian gay-in-denial homophobes travel the province and beyond looking for gay people to violently attack. Who are the predators? Not the people enjoying Pride Fest. They don't go there with their families looking for violence. The roving bands of Christian gay-in-denial homophobes are the violent haters causing trouble. Vanderweide is just a street-fighting thug. His church tells him 'God' is on his side. Bunch of sickos.
  3. No. You're wrong. And there was no parade. (Were you there?) The violent 'homophobes for God' went to the Park where Pride Fest was being held, for no reason other than causing trouble. Pride folks just prevented the homophobes from disrupting Pride Fest itself. They kept them at a distance so their hateful shrieking about 'God's vengeance' on gay people couldn't be heard, and held up a cloth screen to block their hate signs. It was just very funny at first when the hateful little Godcreeps started attacking the cloth screen, and just slid to the ground. Lol But then they started attacking the people holding the screen. Then GodcreepVanderweide used his steel helmet as a weapon to stun people and Preachercreep booted them in the head when they were down. Very violent. CreepVanderweide was charged w assault w a weapon x 2. Interesting that on his FB, he said his church 'saved him' from his urges. He's a gay-in-denial conversion-therapy graduate, and now extremely violent towards gays. Bigoted churches that do conversion therapy to gay people are turning out violent offenders They should lose their charity status. So, yes to Argus' question: Christians in Canada are committing violence in the name of their 'God'.
  4. Maybe Trump thought he could run it like his business ... where he just doesn't pay people. Lol
  5. This wasn't at City Hall. This was at Pride Fest. The Christian homophobe hate groups had no reason to go there except to cause trouble. They didn't win. Pride folk defended themselves and maintained the barrier.
  6. You're pretty wrong. The Christian homophobe hate groups weren't invited to Pride Fest. They came looking to make trouble. They weren't allowed near the festival to disrupt it. They got violent.
  7. Matthew Green, a former Hamilton city councillor and current federal NDP candidate, said he saw the altercation break out because of "far-right evangelicals" who were there "just there to sucker-punch people." https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/hamilton-pride-festival-altercation-police-1.5177439 https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/chris-vanderweide-pride-1.5192540
  8. Lighten up, cranky old fart.
  9. Incels are pathetic. Don't be like incels.
  10. I can guarantee they're not trying to look sexy for old guys. Lol
  11. Where in Canada is that?
  12. Evil is done in the name of "God" in many languages, but mostly in English.
  13. Obviously there's no point in trying to explain to you how dumb that analogy is.
  14. I see lots of room to push the Liberals or Conservatives to do a whole lot better. Remember, a minority government in parliament needs votes from another party to be able to pass any legislation at all, so they're motivated to negotiate. ETA... because they have no alternative. Lol
  15. You really miss the point, Army guy. Government works best for us when parties have to negotiate. No one party is 'best'. Majority governments are corrupt governments. Minority governments have to play nice. That's best for all of us.
  16. You speak the propaganda of the powerful and the Party, not in the interests of the people. The interests of Canadians are best served by intelligent collaboration among all of those we elected to parliament. A minority government is a democratic parliament instead of an autocratic, one-man majority parliament, arguably a dictatorship, as we've seen with the SNC-corrupted Liberals and previously with the Oil-corrupted Harper Conservatives. In the coming minority government, the Greens will hold the balance of power and influence on legislation proposed, amendments, and passage through the legislature. There is no guarantee they will prop up a Liberal or Conservative minority ... unless the minority government's legislation is consistent with Green policies and/or deemed to be in the best interests of the majority of Canadians. That's real democracy, where all parties can influence legislation, where the governing Party is actually held accountable to the votes of all Canadians.
  17. You're a man? Easy for you to say so dismissively. You don't have to get and keep jobs by conforming to the desires of vindictive male perverts. You don't automatically do 25+ things every day to 'prevent' rape ... or more accurately, to avoid being blamed for your own rape. You don't get to so flippantly dismiss those risks that never affect you.
  18. 1) No more ridiculous than men putting a necktie noose around their neck every day, signifying their vulnerability and submission to slavery under the patriarchy of greed, wealth and power. Or women conforming to the obligatory patriarchal 'business suit' ... the preferred short, tight skirt with slits, nude stockings, peekaboo chiffon blouse and high heels ... to please the masters' eyes and dicks ... cos otherwise you don't get or keep the job. The expected fashion-submission to uniformity to please capitalist imperialist wealth and power is abhorrent to me from the safe perch of retirement, when most days a cozy mumu and a headscarf/bandanna are the most work-friendly attire: My body, my business, frack you and your perverted eyes who think you can judge me lacking because I reject your 'right?' to sexualized 'looking'. (FFS, I'm an elder! Does the unwanted sexual harassment never fracking end???) All other things aside, a burqa style often seems a desirable fashion choice to me. Lol No prying eyes, no tight and constraining clothing ... fewer rape worries. As a friend of mine used to say ... "After work, I have to go to my car alone, in the dark. Who's going to want rape an old woman wearing elephant earmuffs!" What women choose to wear, and why, is nobody's business. 2) Precisely.
  19. It'll be Greens calling the shots.
  20. So we agree that people are responsible for their own actions and choices, regardless of what religions or other dogma or voices in their head may or may not be "telling them". How do you hold dogma accountable in court? It's ridiculous. We hold people accountable for their actions. And we don't judge the rest of the people of a group by the actions of some with dangerous 'voices in their heads'.
  21. A woman's right to choose is not your business.
  22. Millennial Lol Thanks but ... I bought decades ago.
  23. People are responsible for their own actions.
  24. The content of religions is stupid and irrelevant to me. But I'll believe in fairies and leprechauns if I wish. Nobody's business. Not hurting anyone. Terrorism hurts people. Violence hurts people. The dogma - whether they call it Christian, Muslim, Zionist, whatever - is irrelevant. It isn't about dogma. It's about criminals and criminal acts. Nobody cares why. And nobody else is responsible except the perpetrators of criminal acts. Blaming all Jews, all Christians, all Muslims for the acts of criminals among them is ridiculous.
