  1. The more I reflect on it the more convinced I am that some or all of the opposition parties will be trying to breing down the government after the first Gomery report which is due out on November 1. The second and final report is due Dec 15. Link
  2. Layton gears up for election fight What happens if the New Democrats who are presently within 6% of official opposition are able to close that gap leading up to the next election? Anyway Layton has three days of caucus meetings to generate some publicity for his team. That should help them when the next set of polling figures are released. It sure looks like at least one party is ready to Rock & Roll.
  3. The wind at Hillary's back Listening to this guy it sounds like Ms Clinton has the 2008 presidency in the bag. Incredible!
  4. George W. Bush Still Rocks! Stop Criticizing! The rich man's CEO is exercising his job requirements perfectly Wow, it really is open season on Dubya. This is something I have not seen the likes of since Bush was elected president. It seems like five years of pent up fury is about to be released against the Bush Republicans.
  5. Dear theloniusfleabag Some people think that bin Laden may already be dead, possiblt the results of the bombing that took place in the Tora Bora region. I mean do we actually have any concrete proof he is still around? And concerning that so-called hit list that included Canada, the authenticity of that tape apparently has been discredited. Al Qaeda video serves new warning to the U.S. Cheers
  6. Maybe, maybe NOT.
  7. Time to burst the bubble on another one of those economic myths that Conservatives are better financial managers that progresive folks. It's such ludicrious comments as these that make people lose interest in the political game. I know that the Republicans were screwing up the nation's finances big time but some people are now suggesting that Bush's economic policies are even going to lead to another 1929. A Price To Be Paid For Folly
  8. Don't worry the CBC will be back up and running shortly. The Liberals need it as part of their marketing strategy.
  9. Link Actually this heated discussion about bringing Sharia law into Canada provided an opportunity to discuss the whole aspect of religious-based tribunals. And now Ontario Liberal Premier McGuinty has rejectd Sharia and cancelled all others. Good move. The more we can remove religion from government the better off we will all be.
  10. Taking Stock of the Forever War Lost at Tora Bora This is what really boggles my mind. At one point they had bin Laden on the ropes in Afghanistan and they went into Iraq instead. Great strategy!
  11. Right may have met its match in hurricane crisis What is most disturbing is that if the scientists had been listened to, a large part of NO is suffering could have been avoided. Hopefully we will be able to turn things around in the US administration so that these kind of scenarios do not keep on repeating themselves. If you think the US psyche is damaged now, imagine what it would be like if they rebuild NO where it was, and the same thing happens again.
  12. Can't have that. Then the Republicans won't be able to give out those lucrative government contracts to rebuild the city.
  13. Summer of the party's disconten I remember when Belinda Stronach was running against Harper for the Tory leadership. The media seemed relatively balanced up until a certain point in the campaign and then all of a sudden they cut Brelinda loose and she was done. It was quite apparent that certain people had decided Harper the one and it was game over. I am of two minds here about what is actually going on, as I do not think I have ever seen such criticism of a political leader in Canada in the press. Either this is the beginning of a full court press by the Liberals to attempt to get a majority government, or it is that back room Conservatives have had it with Harper, and want him out now before the next election. Can't quite decide which it is. Either way this article is an public relations nightmare for the Tory leader from which he has not got a prayer of recovering from. I mean seriously folks, is this the type of person you want running Canada? Too much more of this and the Tories will be in jeopardy of losing their official opposition status. Bye bye Steevie!
  14. Ah, just a brief question about your nuclear response. Where and who would you have nuked?
  15. Israel and the US are allies. The US supplies Israel with military equipment and some protection from the Arab states that are opposed to Israel's existence. Israel in return helps the US in the region with their oil interests. For example it was Israel that actually located where Saddam was hiding and tipped off the US who went in and captured him for the press to film and to be used as part of their war propaganda. That Israel located Saddam was publicised in a credible Australian online newspaper at the time the incident was going down, but never made it to the NA media as far as I know. There is no question that Israel has a very effective lobby group in DC. This aspect about Christians wanting to support Israel because it is in the bible is in reference to fundamentalist Christians. There is a difference.
  16. Dear kimmy One of a select few that I have had on ignore now for about a week. I can't say enough good things about this feature. Cheers,
  17. Florida, and other Southern state voters were treated to the aspect of having their polling stations opened early for the November, 2004 election. This gave black voters the option of being turned down earlier than previous elections.
  18. Dear bakunin Please explain to me what you mean about our Canadian government promoting the united country of Canada within Canada's borders by installing Canadian flags. The other 12 provinces and territories (quiet Alberta) want us to remain united so why is this a problem and would you not expect this from Canada's national government. Bien a vous
  19. This one, I quibble with a bit. I think the danger to the Liberals is not so much that there might be current ministers implicated in the actual wrongdoing. I think the more likely (and more damning) indictment would be if Gomery contends that prominent current Liberals had knowledge of the shenanigans ongoing in their midst, but turned a blind eye to it. Dear Kimmy Thanks for your feedback. The expression "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" seems to be apropos here. This program was originally designed to help keep Canada united, after the referendum, was it not? I really wonder how many people realize how serious (I'm talking about the possibility of civil war) the Quebec situation was, and may still be. Chretien, I don't know if allowed is the right word, but whatever, allowed himself to be demonized in Quebec by the separatists. Chretien, for all his faults spent his life trying to keep our country united, and for this I think we should be very thankful. I also don't think a lot of people in Canada have a clue what it is like to be a federalist in Quebec. It has been absolute hell for federalists in Quebec, and certainly there are some parallels with the McCarthy era in the US. Please though don't misunderstand me. I am NOT in any way condoning any fraudulent behaviour. I just want to be clear that I understand what you are saying or possibly suggesting. Are you saying that if Martin and all of his current cabinet ministers (also what about current MPs) are not in any way involved in the scandal, i.e. no involvement and no awareness, then Martin is completely off the hook, and will get a resounding majority government? Even though we have heard some testimony, I don't wan't to condemn anyone prior to Justice Gomery's report. What I am confused about is after our election of June, 2004, why would Canadians want to have another election before Gomery's report this November. I mean don't Canadians want to hear from Gomery before we go to the polls again? Cheers
  20. Of course it's both.
  21. So perhaps the only reason Bush bounced Brown is that Powell started criticising him. At least he is turfed but not completely appaently. Outrage gets FEMA director bounced as president thanks Canada for relief effort
  22. I think it is fair to say that the Canadian dollar is not really rising; it is the US dollar that is falling. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What's the difference? The Canadian loonie has appreciated in relation to the benchmark up to now at least, the US greenback, but perhaps not for too much longer. By far the most foreign trade we do is with the US. So it give us much better purchasing power abroad. And yes we have to be competitive and productive at home but why shouldn't we as we have so many commodities right here in Canada.
  23. That was a completely unwarranted personal attack. Yet again dickhead mirror, lowers the level of discussion on the board. Bravo sir, you are a champion. Question 27 Will you ever move out of your parent's basement? (Personal attacks flow both ways jerk.) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  24. Do you have any actual examples of untruthful or inaccurate Tory statements regarding adscam? Note to Paul Martin. Heads gotta roll big time over this. You are going to have zero luck trying to use Adscam against the CPC in any respect. You were finance minister when over $100 million of our tax dollars were thrown away. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Please provide an accurate and appropriate link for that $100 million figure otherwise some Liberal folks might think you were making it up, eh! Tories are their own worst enemy it seems
