Actually I heard that Mcleans magazine was recently purchased by Conservative interests. I know things couldn't be too much worse for the Tories but don't give up quite yet. In politics things can change quickly, and although it is a longshot, almost an impossibility, but you never know for sure.

It's time to IMPEACH Bush!
mirror replied to Ironside's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
What does impeachment mean if the president remains in office even after she/he is impeached? And Nixon resigned before he was impeached. All very confusing to me. -
Pettigrew calls sovereignists 'intolerant' I sure that it is politically incorrect to say this at least in Quebec but you know I have to agreee with Pettigrew.

Dear CES Sorry that you are such a prisoner in Canada. Better call Amnesty International! I didn't realize that unionized employees were not allowed to work elsewhere, oh actually they are. You can go to work anywhere you want in Canada. Stop with your moaning and leave all those wonderful union perks behind. Have the courage of your convictions, quit, and just try and get yourself a better job! But you won't I can tell. You're the type who just likes to complain about everything but won't do anything about it, because you have it so good in a union. Cheers

Harper dehors, apparently Wells has the actual press release on his website. The people who signed it include candidates and even one who was going to run for them in the next election. Their reason for going public with their proposal to lose Harper is because there is time now as the Gomery report has been delayed.
-
Dear CES You should know how to use the quote system by now, you have been here long enough. So what you are saying is that you are prepared to take all the benefits that you're union provides for you but you hate unions. Now that impressive logic! PS Instead of thrashing on about other parties use some of that energy and go get a leader for your party that your party members and your candidates will support. Cheers

Well more problems for Mr Harper. Quebec Tories want him to go. But the NDP and the Liberals want him to stay. Gee, I wonder why!

The professor under fire Germany goes to the polls this Sunday. Initially the right looked it was going to sweep to power after the leader's debate, but the left has been surging in the last few days. Who is going to win is anyone's guess but if the Germans have any sense they will keep those right wingers as far away from those levers of power as possible. As if the world needs is another Bush or Chirac.

Dear CES It used to be 4 hours but perhaps it has been cut back to 3. But what in the world are you on about? If you finish work at 5 PM and the polls close at 8 PM, you have your 3 hours and there is no issue. If a union has negotiated a collective agreement that provides for workers to be let off to go and vote during the working day and get paid for it as well more power to those employees. That soiunds more like what you are upset about. My only advice to you is to join a union where your work conditions will be protected. It sounds like you are jealous of unionized workers and I don't blame you. If you are in a good union like me life can be very good. Cheers

Dear MA Typical of the Bush Republicans to want and take all credit & photo opps when things they perceive in their mind goes right like Bush's photo on that ship saying the War is Over in Iraq. Remember that, what a clown he is. Bush reminds me of Mulroney in some ways, they both will say the most outrageous statements that have no semblance to the truth. People died, a lot of people died, and all you Republicans want to do is avoid taking any responsibility for the disaster. Pathetic really, Republicans are losing huge amounts of credibility over Katrina, and they are continuing to go blinding marching on following Bush's leadership over the cliff. It looks good on them and I think Republicans are going to be absolutely devastated when the 2006 election results come in. Bush should apologise, he should have apologised a long tiome ago and taken some responsibility, and he will have to apologise. He has no choice as he is a major screw-up president. Cheers

Bush: The Disaster President
mirror replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
A Letter to All Who Voted for George W. Bush from Michael Moore Moore is a very effective communicator. Apparently Moore is considering making a Katrina movie. He is becoming quit3 a thorn in the side of the Republicans. It looks good on them and so it should. -
Dear sloopy Unfortunatley as it shows below hardly anyone agrees with you, which is par for the course with your usual brilliant comments. Cheers
-
Dear Leader Circle And you wonder why Conservatives are doing so badly in the polls. Keep up those impressive comments and the Conservatives will be back in the Kim Campbell era in number of seats. 121 Cheers

Don't be surprised when the inevitable inquiry into this mess finds that the bulk of the blame in this matter lies with the State of Louisianna and the municipal government of New Orleans Parish, despite every attempt by the Deaniac party and it's sympathizers to blame the whole thing on Bush. I'm also amused that the whole "Bush is a racist" meme still has legs. When I started posting to various forums earlier this year I encountered a LOT of sentiment coming from the left that Colin and Condy were "house niggers" (I quote verbatum) and not representative of Black America (whatever that means) and therefore did not count as evidence that Bush was pro-diversity. To hear the same people now stating without a hint of irony that Bush is a racist, based on the flimsiest of pretexts, is just HILARIOUS. You all make me laugh. I can't wait for the 2006 elections. It's going to be interesting. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dear BHS Actually speaking of Powell it wasn't until he spoke out and criticised the federal government's response that Bush fired "Browie you're doing a hell of a job". 1171 Cheers

NDP Not Ruling Out Future Deal With Liberals

Dear sloopy Canadians obviously are aware of the qualiites of US presidents. We thought Reagan was bad, but Bush is almost making Reagan look good which is hard to imagine. 169 Cheers -
McGuinty Cancels All Religious-Based Tribunals
mirror replied to mirror's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Dear BHS No one has any beefs about your religious beliefs as long as you keep them to yourself. You know private between you and your God as others here don't give a rat's ass about your religious beliefs. The problem is though is that you don't keep them to yourself and that is where the problems lie. So if religious people can't shut up about them they will continue to get hammered because a lot of others think they are gobblygook, and why should we have to be subjected to such absurdies. 172 Cheers -
Dreaming of a better Canada...yes... (Hold enough seats to control the minority gov't...) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Canadians are messed up right now in their political leanings, but I just don't see them turning to the NDP as a way to recover the country from turmoil! If we wanted to go into a recession, we'd all vote NDP, if we want to keep this country on track we need to go with a right of center or centrist party and the Liberals have show that they cannot be trusted! I see the CPC as the only clear alternative to Canada's future. The lefty media needs to back off a bit. Mulroney is not a good example of today's Conservative voter. Mulroney was a wingnut at best! Canadians as a whole are fed up with politics and feel that no politicians can be trusted, so I see a very low turnout for the next election which will work well for the NDP, because no matter how many people vote 100% of NDP supporters will make it to the polls, because they work for a union that allows 2 hours of that day to vote! Their union basically tells them that they have to vote NDP and if they don't they will be blackballed! So for all the righties calling NDP's communist, I say you are way off base!!! This is very much a democratic party!! HAHA! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dear Leader Circle There is not a shred of evidence to suggest that the right is any better than the left at looking after government finances so you can remove that myth from your list. As far as voting goes, the Canadian election act states that employess have to be allowed 4 hours to go and vote so if the polls close at 8 PM and the employee regularly finishes work at 5 PM, the employer has to allow the employee off at 4 PM, one hour early. The union has nothing to do with how you vote as it is a secret ballot, so apart from making sure that the employer follows the law, the union has nothing to do with it. You can therefore remove that myth from your list as well. Do you get some sense of satisfaction from union bashing with absurd and inaccurate comments about how unions function. Just because a union turned your membership application down is no reason for you to be upset. 102 Cheers

NDP Not Ruling Out Future Deal With Liberals
mirror replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Dear shoop Now let me see if I understand. Bush was the greatest thing since sliced bread until Katrina. Now because his actions have discredited the right wing, you are going to cut him loose so the Republicans can hold onto control of the Congress in 2006. I just wanted to be clear about that. 138 Cheers -
Dear CES Toronto Mayor Miller was parading around with a cheque so I presume that means he has already received some of the money and will be putting it to use shortly. Ask your own city hall about it Cheers

Dear Hawk Imagine Canadians not wanting a fundamentalist society like the US, where the government doesn't have to look after the people of NO as God will do it. Shame on us. Cheers -
Anyone want to run for political office in the next federal election for the Tories? Apparently they have lots of openings. It is quite sad to see a once mighty political party crashing and burning like this. Tory Leader hunts for new troops 2244
