August & eureka Agreed. There is too much pettifogging happening here.

Now you know what it's like for workers to read the paper rather than the corporate elites . Think about it!
-
And I am allowed to point out that you are over reacting to high profile visible taxes and that you need to look at the big picture. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Who appointed you the authority on what's best for Canadians? The corporate elites are always screaming about tax reductions. Reducing the GST by 2% helps all citizens and helps the least financially privileged the most. Once we have been able to incorporate a 5% GST into our economic system then in the future years we can take a look a reducing it even more. You are way too greedy to making any kind of decisions on behalf of Canadians because you do not represent our collective interests.

One of the things I enjoyed about former Liberal Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy's article is that he finishes off by paying tribute to the wisdom of a Conservative thinker. These pissin' contests between political parties waste everyone's time and do nothing to sorting out the real issues we are all facing as Canadians. Political parties aren't the solution to Canada's problems, we are.

Read this, particularly the last part of the article as it is quite long, and weep! It certainly collaborates the kind of thing Axworthy is talking about. The Heather & Gerry Show

This is without a doubt the biggest problem after global warming, that Canada is facing at the present time. Why do you think you are getting all this gobblygook that our health care system is in jeopardy, our school systems are a mess, our governments are no good, etc. This sellout of Canada, and all the good honest values we represented, started with Mulroney, has been accelerated by Martin, and is now rolling downhill like an avalanche. Time to redefine ties with U.S.

I think 25-50 years of minority governments will be good for Canada and that way perhaps all the regions of our country will feel represented, and by regions I am including or suggesting income regions.

No kidding. Superb response!

Says who? The Fraser Institute? Canada's CEOs? Am I allowed to disagree. Seriously!

A 2% cut in the GST is finacially doable and will help the folks at the lower end of the financial ladder proportionally much more than those at the top. The surprise surpluses that Goodale seems to discover each year would absorb the reduction in the GST tax revenues to our national government. I find it quite stange that all those clammering for tax reductions don't want the GST reduced!

Hawaii Sets Caps On Wholesale Gas Prices This is gonna turn more than a few heads. Perhaps we need to try something like this in Canada, eh!

I was always a big fan of Bob White, Hargrove's predecessor, as head of the CAW, and was concerned that he would be difficult to be replaced. Buzz though has come through with shinning colours, and has established himself as a great leader in his own right. Charity's oddest couple: The financier and the union boss

Venezuela: revolutionaries and a country on the edge Fascinating story. I doubt the US will ever get their meat hooks into this country again. Viva Chavez is right!

Pat Robertson Calls For Chavez To Die

I have been kinda wondering about this myself. My American cousins, read this and weep about your country. Come on US you can do better than this. You have to get your act together somehow. Why Pat Robertson isn’t treated as a terrorist? -
Right, and the Layton New Democrats with only 19 members, managed to get $4.6 billion in funding for social democratic priorities in the last session of Parliament. What makes you think it is going to be any different in September? It isn't, and it may get even get a lot worse for the Liberals in the Fall. The biggest problem with the Liberals is their arrogance. It caused them to come within one vote of having their government defeated in the Spring. They need to pay a lot of attention to what Layton says. Remember they are in minority government. They seem to forget they no longer have a majority government, and they no longer call the shots without the approval of another political party. I think they are about to be reminded quite soon.

Pat Robertson Calls For Chavez To Die

Chávez taunts US with oil offer Gotta like this little guy Chavez. He's a gutsy little fellow. Robertson has made what I would call a momentous mistake that is going to cost Bush & his fundamentalist crowd big time. What in the world is Bush waiting for to charge Robertson with criminal hate behaviour? -

Perhaps he meant me but I can assure him I am not anti-American, although I am not particularly fond of the current US Administration.. But hey, some of my favourite people live there. -
Global warming doesn't exist, does it?

US states bypass Bush to tackle greenhouse gas emissions Wow, things have really changed for the US Administration. I guess with Bush being at his all time low in the polls, combined with his escalating loss of credibility over the war in Iraq, he really has become a lame duck president. -
Boys & girls in the oil patch, hang onto your hats because there is going to be a big push to use our supply of oil to fight back against the softwood lumber tariffs. There is a world demand for our oil so, if it were me I would start contacting other buyers for Canada's oil and begin now to make alternate arrangements than selling to the US. Either the oil patch is part of Canada, and works together with the lumber industry on this, or it is not: Link

Here is an interestingly article about oil prices and what we can expect. For once an analyst is predicing prices to drop: The Oil Price Mirage

Yes it needs to be free, and paid for by our taxes. We are moving in that direction. That way it will encourage people to get rid of some of their cars, and substantially reduce pollution. There were 500 premature deaths in Ontario alone this year because of their smog.

There was a poll in the National Post today about wherther or not people were upset with the high gasoline prices. 50% (well actually 49%) of Canadians said they were NOT. I guess we have better get used to these prices and just learn how to live with them. It is still only 50% of what they pay in Europe where apparently they are taxed quite a bit, unlike here in Canada.

An Open Letter to the Premier of Ontario, The Ontario Chamber of Commerce, and the People of Ontario Canadian humour at its best! Comedians are going to having a field day with this issue from here on.
