Who were recent intellectual prime ministers? I think our most unpopular recent prime minister was Mulroney and I don't think it had anything to do with his being a tory. I'd be curious to know why people think he was so unpopular. I wonder what people's perceptions of Martin are - my impression is that he is not well liked. How is he perceived in Quebec?

Do you think the Conservatives will win the Louis St laurent riding?
-
Actually the democratic space projection showing the Conservatives winning only 71 seats is based on the latest Ipsos-Reid poll. Looking at how it is done it appears to be very well thought out, a very thorough explanation is given with lots and lots of details, and it does seem to be quite scientific. Unfortunately the election prediction forecast showing the high 84 undecided apparently is woefully out of date and has not beeb updated since May, 2005. The latest seat projections nodice is showing are: Lib - 137 seats Con - 76 seats Bloc - 66 seats NDP - 28 seats Other - 1 seat Total - 308 seats But hey these are only predictions, eh!

A CIA Cover Blown, a White House Exposed This is incredible. a 9-page article in the LA Times. I am thinking if the Democrats got control of Congress in 2006, they might be able to impeach Bush before his term of office runs out.

This democratic space projector is incredible work. It shows the Conservatives taking one seat near or part of Quebec City I believe, the riding of Louis Saint Laurent squeaking by the Bloc.
-
For those of you who might have despaired seeing the previous results don't, as the following results show a very high undecided factor, which means it could still be anybody's ball game. Election Prediction Project Lib - 80 seats Con - 76 seats NDP - 15 seats Bloc - 53 seats Undecided - 84 seats Total - 308 seats

Link Then click on "site map" which should take you in. Current (August 25, 2005) forecast: Lib - 150 seats Con - 71 seats NDP - 27 seats Bloc - 60 seats Total - 308 seats If, and that's a big if, these projections are accurate the Conservatives may be coming close to losing their official opposition status. And then of course it may just be part of the Liberal strategy of a full court press as they desparately want a majority government and will be pulling out all the stops to get it, otherwise PM Martin is toast. Or finally it may be just some pollster's forecast who has no affiliation to any political party. This is what we are really here for, so let's discuss, eh!

You are going to have to brought in for some deprogramming!

Here is a wonderful current and excellent example of the new Liberal policies of modesty and humbleness: - from Paul Wells And these clowns seriously wonder why they are NOT doing better in the polls. Right!

What have unions done for anyone since the Employment Standards Act and each province's Health and Safety Acts were created? They fought for higher wages and more benefits that only served to eliminate jobs because the corporations can't, won't and don't need to support their demands. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ask Cameron if he would like to work for minimum wage with no benefits or flying perks? Give me a break please!

Two former women MPs are new arrivals at the pearly gates and are comparing stories on how they died. 1st woman: I froze to death. 2nd woman: How horrible! 1st woman: It wasn't so bad. After I quit shaking from the cold, I began to get warm and sleepy, and finally died a peaceful death. What about you? 2nd woman: I died of a massive heart attack. I suspected that my husband was cheating, so I came home early to catch him in the act. But instead, I found him all by himself in the den watching TV. 1st woman: so what happened? 2nd woman: I was so sure there was another woman there somewhere that I started running all over the house looking I ran up into the attic and searched, and down into the basement. Then I went through every closet and checked under all the beds. I kept this up until I had looked everywhere, and finally I became so exhausted that I just keeled over with a heart attack and died. 1st woman: Too bad you didn't look in the freezer, we'd both still be alive.

What pride is there in being obligated to pay? The pride should come from the free will to pay back into the community through churches and charities. That means a hell of a lot more than having your bank account ransacked by the government for their pet projects. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nonsense. The rich don't pay or give their time to charities. Check the stats. The reality is you have to pry anything the rich have away with a crowbar to get anything out of them.

Cameron You comments make me sad. Do you really believe you would have any of the benefits and perks you receive, if it were not for your union brothers and sisters working in solidarity to achieve them. Take your head out of the sand.

Conservatives Set Up Crime Commission
mirror replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Does anyone know the actual numbers? The number of killings per year over the past 20 years in the GTA. -
I have an idea!
-
Unfortunately the Liberals have a lock on most of Canada's MSM, especially the CBC News Dept, which might as well be an arm of the Martinites, so Canadians are constantly subjected to the Liberal spin, much, much more than any other political party. Hopefully at some point Canadians will tire of the BS and turf them out. Kimmy You do a good job of dissecting and explaining issues. Why don't you ask Harper for a job!
-
Conservatives set up task force on crime issues Canadians sit by watching PM Martin, Ambassador McKenna, & their corporate connections dismantle health care, and Mr Harper want to set up a crime commission. Give us a break! When are Canada's political parties ever going to put Canada's interests, even for a little bit, above their own absurd political agendas?
-
Do you really think that is a fair analogy? Practically everything the US does affects us, but it is not necessarily the other way around. And if you were good friends with someone, and you thought they were screwing up, would you say something to them? Anyway do you dislke Lloyd or do you not agree with his point of view?

Gomery wants Cdn thoughts on scandal
mirror replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Good question. Who appointed him? What is his background? Is it shady? -
Let's ask the middle and lower clases if they want a reduction in GST or income taxes, and see what THEY want, instead of the RICH deciding for them what they want.
-
BM How about when you make this wild outlandish accusations you back them up with at least a URL link so that we don't get the impression you're smokin' some of that funny stuff that no one has, but that eveyone one talks about.
-
That is perfectly understood.

I would tell him that I hope he had a relaxing summer and that Canadians are tired of hearing about Adscam. What was it, 2%, in that last SES poll, that gave a sweet -- -
BM I think Axworthy is talking to you:
