I agree, since that's what I've been saying on this for'em all along... While ALL parties may "stink" there's a lot of GOOD PEOPLE running for the right reasons and one can only hope that those are the people that get elected although it ain't necessarily so...

CRTC ditches bid to allow fake news - After ignoring the committee's letters for years, CRTC finally relented and said in December it would consider changing the regulation to apply only in cases when broadcasters know the information they are sharing is untrue and when it “endangers or is likely to endanger the lives, health or safety of the public.” But the CRTC's call for public input on the proposal resulted in a tidal wave of angry responses from Canadians who said they feared such a move would open the door to Fox TV-style news and reduce their ability to determine what is true and what is false. In the face of the outcry, the regulations committee, which is composed of both MPs and senators, met last Thursday and decided it would no longer pursue the matter with the CRTC. Some of the MPs on that committee, including Liberal chairman Andrew Kania, were not in politics when the issue was first discussed and said they did not agree with the decision of the committee 10 years ago to press the CRTC for the change. “I would suggest perhaps as an option that we write back to the CRTC; we thank them for the proposed amendments but we also let them know that this version of the committee does not see the Zundel decision as an impediment to the continued operations of the current regulations, and invite them to consider whether they still wish to make changes in light of that comment,” Mr. Kania told his fellow committee members. The committee agreed. The CRTC had not received any correspondence from the committee by Thursday of this week. But, having been made aware of the decision, CRTC Chairman Konrad Von Finckenstein told reporters late last week that the commission never wanted to change the regulation in the first place. The CRTC had run out of stalling devices after being pressured by the committee for 10 years, Mr. Von Finckenstein said, and now that the committee has relented the commission will withdraw the attempt to rewrite the regulation. - Let's see if I've got this straight... In order for this so called "Fox News North" (Sun-TV) channel to get approval from the CRTC the CRTC needed to CHANGE a regulation... The CRTC has decided NOT to change said regulation... Because of there being NO CHANGE in said regulation the so called "Fox News North" (Sun-TV) channel can NOT get CRTC approval to operate... That about it? Yup, that's it... After reading through this thread and other threads on this subject I've come to realize that people seem to think this is about the Conservative Party's MONEY and how they spent it to "get the most bang for the buck" and that's all... Here's a NEWS FLASH for you; IT'S NOT! It's about YOUR MONEY, YOUR TAX MONEY, being spent by people in a specific Political Party for that Party's gain, people in a Political Party using YOUR MONEY whether you "support" that Party or not... FYI - ANY candidate that runs in an election and receives 10% or more of the popular VOTE in that riding gets REIMBURSED the money he/she spent on his/her election up to the maximum allowed SPENDING LIMIT from federal election funds which is funded by YOUR TAX DOLLARS... In short this is about DEFRAUDING YOU and ME not some arbitrary entity called a Political Party, and NO, not "all parties" do it because it is illegal to do so...

Believe it or not there are actually people that believe Faux (Fox) News is "fair and unbiased" as they like to call themselves... I much prefer to get my news from "the most trusted name in news" Jon Stewart...

Many here seem to think it's over before the fat lady has even come to the stage... I HOPE Harper reads the "tea leaves" wrong again and calls a third meaningless election... Then, hopefully, we get 3 new leaders in TIME for the election after that...

With the NDP dropping and now sitting at 13% there won't be an election... Nuff said...
