Clark, Can He Win?
Craig Read replied to nova_satori's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No Clark won't win. He will lose badly. Clark is just another opportunist. An arm chair war critic, whose great campaign was in Kosovo where he bombed from 30.000 feet, refused to send in troops or heavy armour and let the EU muddle the affair with its 'legal' concerns. Oh by the way, he killed more civilians than Serb military personnel. Now the Republican Clark is PRESTO ! Mr. Democrat !! After appearing on CNN with anti-US, anti-Patriotic viewpoints Mr. Clark finally decided that his ignorant assessment of world affairs fits in squarely with the DumboCrud!! Good choice Wesley, you war hero you !! Hey hold on, wasn't Wesley giving pro-Bush, pro-Reagan speeches last year and the year before ? Hmmm. Another Clinton perhaps ? And Nova, the main reason the DEFICIT not the DEBT is at 3 % of GDP is that spending is not cut and yes there is war bill and Iraq being paid for. I would take Grownups in the White House any day over the Frat Boys, or a guy like Clark who is a snivelling anti-Patriot. -
I agree that the IMF needs reform, but your extremist 3rd world marxist interpretation of what causes ecoonomic and political turmoil is wrong. The IMF does not cause domestic problems. The IMF attempts to provide long term funding for those countries that experience dislocations. It remedies include the obvious; political reform; liberalisation; transparency; banking reform; stable currency regimes; debt repayments and reduction. The problem with the IMF is that it dispenses money BEFORE political reform creating what Friedman calls moral hazard. This means that Western banking interests are effectively bailed out of their bad investments by taxpayers, receiving countries misuse the money and large amounts disappear. This is what needs reform. The lender of last resort is a sound policy [every country for eg. has a central bank], but the current IMF structure is not sound.

here is a 2nd which i had posted 9-23 Not one of you brainless anti-American racists can refute any of the following. So I suggest you stop your ranting and address some real issues. -Iraq and Al Qaeda had contacts stemming from 1993 in Sudan. In fact: -Iraq supplied AQ money funnelled through various AQ factions dating from 1993 [when the terrorists would meet in Sudan yearly at the Arab Congress] -Iraq supplied chemical materials to AQ -Iraq supplied fake documents and passports for AQ men -AQ operatives have been found in Iraq -Training facilities in Iraq [1 sw of Baghdad, 1 near Iran], have found AQ operating manuals -AQ documents have been found in Iraq on chemical weapons production [iraqi's are the world experts in producing Zyklon B [hydrogen-cyanide gas for the illiterate] -Hussein and Bin Laden in 1998 before the East African embassy bombings were both releasing the same threats to the US if sanctions were not lifted against Iraq -2 US embassies in East Africa were attacked on August 7th 1998 exactly 8 years to the day that US troops first went to Saudi Arabia [a huge issue for Bin Laden] -Israeli operatives firmly believe that Iraq help fund and sponsor the 9-11 attacks and that in 2001 many meetings were held between Iraqi officials and AQ -Atta who lead the 9-11 attacks met with Iraqi officials many times, the last in Prague [Czech authorities are adamant the meeting took place] -Only Iraq failed to condemn the 9-11 attacks, other Arab League members did condemn them The whole idea that Bin Laden, in a loose federation of terrorists, is able to launch 9-11 style attacks without a nation state helping him is ridiculous. Bin Laden has a net worth of $30 million more or less, he lost his shirt in the Sudan, when the contracts he built were not paid for. AQ needs the $. What more likely country to supply it than Iraq ? Or is of the above just a little too much for the left liberal apologists. We need to understand 'root causes'. Excuse me while i laugh my ass off. Sources [unlike the left liberal girls i prefer evidence], many sources are liberal ones. At least i am fair minded. -Forbes March 17 2003 -Daily Telegraph, April 17 2003 -UPI Sept 25 2002 -Knight Ridder, Feb 6 2003 -New York Sun, March 12 2003 -Guardian Weekly, Feb 14 1999 -Jane's Foreign Report, Sept 19 2001 -Time, Sept 24 2001 -AEI Press, 'Study of Revenge', 2001 -fas.org -Guardian, May 23 1998 -Journal of Counterterrorism, 2001, vol. 7 #4 -NY Times, Feb 6 2003 -Washington Times, Bill Gertz, Sept 21 2001 -CNN Sept 12 2001 -LA Times Dec 9 1996

Yes reality for yourself is hard to see. Your simplistic view of the world - America bad, Canada good - is about as compelling a world vision as was Clinton's defence that oral sex is not sex. You don't research you don't read you don't understand. You another CNN viewer I suppose.

here is one:Ansar Al Islam is an Iraqi terrorist group operating in Palestine and elsewhere with close links to Al Qaeda. The head of the Kurdish security forces in the north was quoted as saying a few days ago that Ansar al Islam followers have been sneaking across the border with Iran and are setting up cells in Baghdad. Whoops. Training camps have been found in northern Iraq along with Al Qaeda operatives and manuals on chemical warfare. Whoops. Yesterday the wonderful Muslim extremists blew up the UN building in Baghdad. The UN refused US security and paid the price for their ignorance of how reality works. Whoops. Yesterday's bombing was notable in that it wasn't against U.S. soldiers but against non-American civilians trying to restore normalcy to post-Saddam Iraq. As a "soft-target" the U.N. was of course more vulnerable to a truck bomb. But the U.N. was no doubt also chosen to intimidate countries that are now contemplating the dispatch of either troops or civilian experts to help rebuild Iraq. The persistent attacks on water mains, oil pipelines and other essential infrastructure are also designed to prevent stability from returning to Baghdad. Welcome to the real world Post Modernists. Still want to hide behind your skirts and shriek about 'socialised health care' and 'all people and cultures are equal'? Thought so.

That is nonsense. Did you not read one posting on this ? I listed a long list of Iraq-Al Qaeda links. Refute one of them. Argue with some facts. I will list them again since apparently you can't read.

Get serious. The UN, the EU and lie-berals like yourself apologist for Hussien, Allende, Terrorists, Bin Laden and Palestinian attacks on Jewish civilians. I will repeat this again - JORDAN IS A PALESTINIAN homeland under the British 1917 demarcation. Hello ? Do you understand english ? Jordan is the homeland of the Palestinians. Is that clear ? If the current crop of PA leaders want ANOTHER homeland then I suggest they get rid of Arafat, stop the corruption, start building the institutions that they have promised to build since 1948. The refugee camps at Jenin and elsewhere were supposed to be temporary. They have become permanent swamps of anti-Jewish terror recruitment. And no one has answered the question i posed - Jordan which is a Palestinian state - does not want the PA or its people. Care to take a guess as to why ?

Has to be someone that is 'non-aligned' - Harris is the only choice as the Post mentioned today. Harris would be great as a counterpoise to Martin.

Clark, Can He Win?
Craig Read replied to nova_satori's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Great Debate. Yawn. Ah let me try to recapsulate the 10 Dumbocruds incredibly intelligent and nuanced policy platform. Yawn. 1. Bush is bad. 2. Economy is bad. 3. Iraq is bad. 4. Tax cutting is bad. 5. Small gov't is bad. Yawn. Thanks for coming out ladies. Next. -
Raising Palestinian kids to cite the Koran but who cannot read is pointless. Lacing the bras of young 17 yr old girls with Semtex and paying off their families as they destroy themselves is murder. Stealing money for personal gain is criminal. Not establishing proper institutions immoral. Killing innocents Jews and not even uttering the word Jew incomprehensible. He is a criminal, a terrorist, a thief and an immoral liar. Kill him. And Kill him slowly.

Affirmative Discrimination and Racism
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I would love to know where all this racism exists in society ? Where are all these selfish white, Jewish dominated industrial sectors that preclude female and minority advancement ? Where are they all hiding ? I need to know ! Every time i look around i see Women and minorities running companies, in politics, the best in sports, on Corporate Boards and in fact one is the Governor General !! Show me ONE FACT on discrimination please. Not rhetoric FACT. You can list a hundred names just by reading the morning paper of these execrably treated, hand-tied, discriminated and no doubt tortured minorities in the headlines. Hello time to wake up. -
Well i have no feelings if they survive off Toronto's money. My feelings get worn thin as more of my dollars disappear into various programs. I would LOVE to see the East combine, rise up and become what they have the potential to be - an economic, and social locus of power and wealth creation. However, current policies and political borders need to change. The question is - can the East really change ?

No, that attack was a reprisal for attacks on Israeli villages including schools and hospitals. Arafat IS the problem. Lance the boil I say and let the Pus run.

From the former head of Romanian intelligence: [WSJ Sept 25th] ION MIHAI PACEPA --------------- "Before I defected to America from Romania, leaving my post as chief of Romanian intelligence, I was responsible for giving Arafat about $200,000 in laundered cash every month throughout the 1970s. I also sent two cargo planes to Beirut a week, stuffed with uniforms and supplies. Other Soviet bloc states did much the same. Terrorism has been extremely profitable for Arafat. According to Forbes magazine, he is today the sixth wealthiest among the world's "kings, queens & despots," with more than $300 million stashed in Swiss bank accounts. * * * "I invented the hijackings [of passenger planes]," Arafat bragged when I first met him at his PLO headquarters in Beirut in the early 1970s. He gestured toward the little red flags pinned on a wall map of the world that labeled Israel as "Palestine." "There they all are!" he told me, proudly. The dubious honor of inventing hijacking actually goes to the KGB, which first hijacked a U.S. passenger plane in 1960 to Communist Cuba. Arafat's innovation was the suicide bomber, a terror concept that would come to full flower on 9/11. In 1972, the Kremlin put Arafat and his terror networks high on all Soviet bloc intelligence services' priority list, including mine. Bucharest's role was to ingratiate him with the White House. We were the bloc experts at this. We'd already had great success in making Washington -- as well as most of the fashionable left-leaning American academics of the day -- believe that Nicolae Ceausescu was, like Josip Broz Tito, an "independent" Communist with a "moderate" streak." the article goes on.... Time to kill him.

Love your quote at the bottom. I have studied Churchill for years, wrote 2 books on him - a man whose likeness will never again touch the PC landscape upon which we now live. Compare Churchill to Chretien. Okay stop laughing and don't do it, it hurts too much. On CN - they are another company which operates in a regulated market. They are dependent on gov't support and subsidy. Canada needs to de-regulate its entire transporation industry including airlines, freight, rail and highways.

I believe Israel will give up the land once they are convinced that Palestine is moving forward to establish peace, Arafat and his thugs who steal money are gone, and the land borders between the 2 states could be made secure [a wall in some areas would be vital, check points, military fences and the like also quite necessary]. The newer generation in Israel would probably support such a move. But the key is Arafat - he has to go. Rather strange that an Egyptian suddenly is the 'voice of his people' in Palestine.

Grasso And Gross Out Pay At Nyse
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
His defenders maintain that he is justly compensated vis a vis other financial firms - that compete in the open market and that he did nothing illegal. I think packing the board with your friends, taking 1/2 - 1/3 of yearly profits and a huge piece of the 'seat prices' for your own pay and blocking the technology improvements that are necessary ie. less traders is just as fraudalent. No shareholder approval of pay, no governance structure and worse - the NYSE tells Corporate America to reform its governance structure and comply to the SEC regulations while they steal their shareholders money !! Grasso rushed his pay [in cash] 4 years before he retires in ONE lump sum, BEFORE the October deadline for the new SEC rules on corporate governance. He is just as fraudalent and guilty of corporate fraud as Bernie Ebbers. He should go to Jail. -
Martin, depending on where he speaks and to whom loves everything. He will cut taxes, increase spending on new programs, spend more on the military, spend more on health care, cut debt, pay off the debt interest and make sure the Cities have more money !! [www.paulmartin.ca] That a boy Paul ! Now lets look at the math. Martin wants Federal debt to be 25 % of GDP in 5 years from today's 40 % level. If he would do this I would vote for him. But he won't - why not ? -This requires $63 Billion in pain [TD bank forecast] -This is $12 Billion per year in either spending reduction or Tax increases From where ? Martin wants to INCREASE gov't size not reduce it. His various programs add up to about $100 billion over 5 years in MORE spending not less. [Post, Sept 25 F15] He has further not committed to specific program cuts of any size. Why then state that his prime objective is debt/GDP ratio of 25 % if he has no intention of doing it ? 1. He hopes the economy in Ont and Alta will still grow providing more revenue for Ottawa and that growth will outrun the spending increases. 2. He will not give us tax cuts of any size. 3. He wants business to vote Lie-beral. Given his track record I don't trust Martin. He is a big spender not a tax cutter. I predict that Gov't under Martin will GROW not shrink. Any takers ? -

The IMF - another great UNO agency that dispenses money to corrupt regimes and bankrupt regimes - sheepishly announced that the Egyptian born Arafat and reborn Palestinian Protector - the Liberals second favorite person after Hussein [Allende comes in 3rd], diverted $900 Mn US to his own projects, accounts and groups. [Daily Telegraph Sept 25] Gee, big surprise. Other items in this release: -"diversion of revenue from the budget to a special bank account controlled by President Arafat." -Most of the money was invested in 69 firms controlled by Arafat and the PLA -Total PLA budget of $1.25 billion but somehow they employ 120.000 people The IMF suggests that Arafat did not profit personally from these missing funds. Smile. Yes that is what they said about the Argentinian regime after it received $7 billion before 2001 and before they went bankrupt. Somehow the $7 billion magically disappeared. Being naive and gullible is so much fun. Ah but i digress, obviously the PLA is a wonderful group beholden to the creation of a well functioning, prosperous and livable Palestinian state.......

Of course no one can prove it exists therefore it does !! My God exists why - well you can't prove he doesn't so therefore he does !! I am better than you - why ? Well you can't prove that i am not so therefore I am !! Welcome to the Lie-beral world of debate. BORING. UWO Stanford Univ. Of Boston and the list goes on .... all found NO evidence of ONE gene causing sexual orientation. Now Provide me ONE study that is supported by corroborating studies that does support the idea. Guess what - none exists. Conclusion: Shut up.

Yes Boyd I agree. Churchill was against a formal EU constitution for the reasons you mentioned. The British model is organic - namely it has grown over the centuries informally and sometimes formally or through revolutions or through political change [1832 Parliamentary reform, 1910 Liberal reforms etc.]. In today's real world - where Trial Lawyers, Tort Lawyers and Political hacks exist in abundance - a document like the COR will obviously be abused to make money. Look at the US where 2 % of GDP goes to Tort Lawyers !! These lawyers are now targeting WalMart - for sexual and racial discrimination !! Why ? Because WalMart has the money that is why. [source: R. Thornburgh, CNBC Sept 23]. This is dangerous. In Canada the use of the Charter to trump Parliament is reaching obscene proportions.

Us Managed Trade - Not A Good Idea
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in The Rest of the World
You need 4 things in place to have a good economy: 1. Low taxes 2. Budget spend at 30 % or lower of GNP 3. Stable Monetary policy 4. Transparent Regulatory model. Canada misses on 1,2, and 4. This is one reason why Americans are 30 % better off than Canadians. -
Democratic Lies 2001-2003
Craig Read replied to Derek's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Clinton is an idiot. It is about time that view was expressed and aired fully. Lie-berals hide behind the roaring 90s - which had nothing to do with 'on your knees' Billy. -
Well Howdy will win that is for sure. As for Reagan - read the new book by someone who worked with him called 'Reagan's Letters'. Great book. It puts an end to the Lie-beral myth that Ronnie was dumb. He wasn't. In fact he was so smart, he rejuvenated the economy, forced through needed deregulation, defeated Soviet Russia, lowered taxes and fired government workers. Sounds like a helluva guy to me.

It depends - i would not classify the Fed Tories as right of centre. They are left of centre. Not one policy program they propose is right of centre. They are trying to appeal to the Liberal vote.
