Clark, Can He Win?
Craig Read replied to nova_satori's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yes Clark is a real thinker. Bombing from 30.000 feet in Kosovo was a good idea, as was appearing on CNN and fomenting anti-Americanism with the we can win song. Real thinker there. Considering he was wrong on both accounts. -
Terminator As Governor/saviour ?
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Allies ? Who the French ? The Russians ? Apparently the Iraqi's prefer the US - see my other post on this topic. Helping Iraq financially allows the US to pull out sooner. This equates into savings in the short term. In other words buy the insurance policy pay the premium today and get out next year. I know this is too rationale for the Libs to fathom. -
If you bothered to read the posts, i think i have stated about 1.000 x that there are 100 tonnes only of WMD. These can hidden in 10 large holes. Your own post supports the fact that WMD existed. So thanks for that.

Well Islam is the merger of gov't and religion is it not ? The religion teaches people intolerance towards the Jew does it not ? At least that is how the Mullahs are practicing and preaching their version of Islam. Terror in the name of Islam is a daily event. If Islam is a success where exactly has it succeeded ? Its governance tells people to eschew the modern world. It facilitates and breeds its own inner demise. Let's provide some evidence of its relevancy and success if you truly believe that it is not a failure. It quite obviously has failed its constituents. This is why 55 % of young Arabs want to leave according to recent reports. When most of the population is illiterate and half starved i find it difficult to state as the Liberal media does that Islam is peaceful, coherent and cultured. Even in moderate countries the religion is abusive to the population and negates modernity. Provide me concrete evidence not emotional PC arguments on its successes. A philosophy which avows an intention in keeping someone ignorant poor and spiteful does not constitute either a noble religious ideal or good governance. Understanding this places the war on terror in perspective. It would be as if someone said to me 'you know the Nazi pagan philosophy of life has its merits...or you know communist godlessness is really a moral philosophy elevating the community above god...." There is a grand difference between religious modernity and religious backwardness. This is the issue.

How are we killing ourselves ? 100 years ago life expectancy was 1/2 of what is today ? More capital, more education, more technology, more freedom exists now than ever ? Where is the proof that things are so bad ? Malthus was wrong. Marx was wrong. UNO social scientists are wrong. The world is getting better not worse.

Read your own post again. It supports that they kept WMD.

Greg I have listed many reasons why Islam has failed. I can recap them they include: -Despots, Tyrants, infanticide, Civil Wars -Poverty -Illiteracy -Reduction of women to outcasts -Stoning -Teaching of anti-Western and anti-jewish hatred -Support of terrorism -Literal reading of the Koran to kill heathen that do not convert -A lack of innovation or general public goods production anywhere in the Muslim world for 2 centuries. Since when does that list constitute a success ? Is there any proof that Islam is a success. If there is please post it. I fail to see how any of the above are refuted by evidence. A religion that encompasses both state and spiritual practice must be measured on both. On both aspects Islam has failed its own people. As for Nova's claim that Said is a hero this is preposterous. He incited racism, violence and admitted that Islam had failed.

Passport And Biometrics Soon Mandatory

Well you guys present some very strong arguments against the card. Many sound ones. I need to reread your posts and do some research. I am no expert on biometric cards or their impact on the rest of the immigration and border processes. If i can find info that addresses your points I will post them. Otherwise I would say that you are probably right on and biometric cards could be a waste. In that regard I am wondering why Homeland security is pushing the idea. -
Snow, great post, thanks for posting it. Yes Clinton did admit many times in speeches even, that Hussein had to be removed. It is rather disingenous now for liberal supporters to claim otherwise when their patron saint himself knew the threat to be real. This makes his inaction indefensible.

Is this title happy enough ? Michael O'Hanlon of the left leaning Brookings Inst. a prominent critic of pre-emption and the war in Iraq has admitted that the strategy has worked. O'Hanlon states that far fewer jihadists have made their way into Iraq and that Syria, is apparently behaving very well. Other regimes are starting now to fall into line to preserve themselves. I still think Iran and Syria should be invaded by the way. Colonel Warden stated after being on the ground recently in Iraq that the Iraqi people were adamant that they DO NOT want the UN or other foreign troops there. They want US troops. As well he cited a dramatic fall off in violence in recent weeks and the gains made in seizing arm caches. As well the infrastructure is being rapidly rebuilt, schools are opened [where students are not shaken down as they enter the room], gov't offices are opened, markets are working and the Iraqi's are building their own domestic police and military force. Not bad for a few months of hard work. Too bad the media does not get it. "No one died today in Iraq, things going well....." I guess that headline is not a 'grabber'.

Clark, Can He Win?
Craig Read replied to nova_satori's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Clark is a johnny come lately - a Rep who thinks now being a democrat will allow him to run the nation. Can you imagine the US with Clark as President ? A General who does not like to fight, barely likes his own country, declares every conflict unwinnable, and has no clue about political-economic affairs. Sounds like a military Clinton or maybe worse - a real McClelland. -
There have been studies on CO2 emissions - one for instance in North Carolina where a forested area was blanketed by pure CO2 - 5 times more than the normal level. Result ? Bigger pine cones, faster growing trees, healthy plant life. Before the UNO and the little scampering socialists decide to re-engineer the world, they actually should; a. understand what they are talking about b. confirm their theories with field work. The UNO and global warming sounds to me like Lenin's defence of Marxism in 1916 with his theories of capitalist expansionism, social stage advancement and the collapse of monied interests. They just don't jive with the real world.

Iraq And Al Qaeda - No Links You Say?

Locke i listed a long list of contacts between Iraq and Al Qaeda with sources. Do you bother to read the posts ? And who is Libria ? Is this another liberal fantasy state ? Like Mexifornia ? -
The Only Two Days That Matter In The Future
Craig Read replied to nova_satori's topic in The Rest of the World
Nova, stop being a liberal and debate. Topic headings offend ? Ah boo hoo hoo. As opposed to the heading of this thread 'Killing Arafat" by Chevy Nova. Great title boys - brought tears to my eyes. Libbies, some concepts. You take the point and refute it with evidence and with facts, not emotional flights of fantasy. You actually READ others ideas. You TRY to counter them. When you are wrong you say so. When you disagree you can say so. Another idea - stop the anti-American anti-Jew racism. It means your head is a block and that your thinking processes are clogged. You can disagree with US policy based on facts without calling Bush or Americans in general slanderous names. This must be possible. I have criticised in great detail on one thread US economic policy. So how is that ? Still think that people who support US foreign policy blindly support evthg ? I don't support US medicare ideas, and I don't support dumb spending. There is that okay dears ? And of course one last point, please keep a box of kleenex at hand. -
Good points. I would say Gov't needs to be far smaller. Separation of powers far more rigorous and more checks and balances. The US model could teach us about checks and balances. At the Fed level the PMO's office has far too much power. Provincially it is estimated that in health care alone about $2 billion is wasted. I know people working in the Ministry of Health and basically the left hand has no idea what the right hand does. Money between various groups in health care is not tracked, audited, check to budget nor is it transparent. In Toronto many projects [like the sale of Union Station or the Waterfront] are pushed through to appease special interests and various friends of politicians [MFP computer scam in which overbilliong for $60 million occured on computer contracts is a classic case]. Fraud is rife within Canada. Small time mafia.

Mickey Mouse is getting my vote. I think Mickey has more to say about real issues than Howdy Doody McGuinty and Ernie Red Tory Tears of Pain Eves. I loathe Eves.

Government - Socialist government in today's modern 'welfare-capitalist/third way/Social Democratic/buzz word of the month' - is about as wasteful a collection of useful idiots as could be devised in a good novel. The latest from Ms. Fraser on the scandal with Radwanski - I would hazard a guess that at least 1/3 of goverment spend is pure waste. [sce: NP Oct 1]

Well Nova we actually agree on a little bit of something. I work in Russia [have an office there] and yes Mafia is everywhere [i am actually there next week but don't worry i will find an Internet cafe to torment you]. Putin has tried to quiet dissent and media opposition and has forced out of business some anti-government leaders. That being said, Oil in Russia has great potential and is not that difficult to process. The Caspian and the Caucasus have huge reserves, are close to major transport routes and links and are cheap to drill and process. Many of these firms are privately run, most on the Stock market and fairly well capitalised and all have US or European partners to help with development. They are in short not controlled by mafia interests but by capital and gov't interests. The mafia control smaller enterprises, illegal business, restaurants, and have many businesses doing legal business through which money is laundered. This is easier to handle, out of the spotlight and not subject to as much scrutiny. They are rather vicious, i had a worked stabbed 34 times as he withdrew a few grand from a bank once. Mafia traces bank transfers and are rather ruthless in stealing from the small fry. There is probably some mafia tie ups with the oil firms, but in no sense are they controlled by the mafia. This would be akin to stating that the Dutch mafia runs Shell.

Another example and a good one of UN toothlessness and irrelevance is UNESCO. The US just rejoined after 19yrs. This agency is so blatantly anti-US, anti-modern and hateful that Reagan pulled the plug. Why did the US rejoin - finally some reforms were made. "Unesco boss Koichiro Matsuura closed nearly a third of the field offices and cut in half the number of higher-echelon posts, getting threatened and sued by previously pampered staff in the process. The General Accounting Office -- whose damning 1984 report persuaded Ronald Reagan to pull the plug -- has given the agency a clean bill of managerial health. That goes to show what U.S. pressure can accomplish at a multilateral organization heavily dependent on its support." Without nation state pressure and withholding of support and $ the UNO will never change and will be hostage to NGOs and leftists.

No Eves is a vegetable. He deserves to get hammered at the polls. He has done a noble job of alienating his voter base and by pandering to the left of centre crowd has only invoked their ire. I don't understand people who are nescient enough to expect that a Conservative by getting on his knees and pleading people to love him, by spending money on votes, by subsidising energy, health, education and so on, actually EXPECTS the socialist mass to like him. They will NEVER like you no matter what. So get over it, and do what needs to be done, and act like a man. Not like a housewife. This is such an incredibly inept approach - the appeasement method - that never works but apparently has the Red Tories enraptured by its alluring flame.

Passport And Biometrics Soon Mandatory
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Mod, come on, national security and the border and trade are at risk. Today in the Post 4 groups are listed by CSIS as active terrorist fundraisers and only ONE is blacklisted by the gov't. The reason is simple - these groups provide money to the Liberals, their supporters, lawyers and the entire immigration edifice. It is a national crime that terrorist groups operate here free to raise money and raise converts to their cause. Our national security is pathetically inept and our borders loose. A biometric card cannot be forged and is now mandatory to stop illegal use of our system and country's resources as well as allow the border to stay open. As I argued elsewhere this card is not the only or even the most important aspect of national security. But what it forces is the complete reform of the entire immigration system, the way people are processed, the background checks, the sponsorships, and where people are once they enter the country. Either we do it or the Americans will do it for us. -
Did you read anything Hugo posted? What arguments and facts support your view ? What medical expertise supports your assertion ? Offer something concrete and intelligent not nostrums.

Immoderate socialist is back. That a boy. So how do you define citizens rights ? How about when ID cards are fake and stolen ? How about when IM forms for immigration are fake and stolen ? How about when the Chinese developer who works for me gives his driver's license to his friends to copy and gets his driver's ed teacher to certify his friend ? [this is true he does this] How about when terrorists using fake names from xxxia or xxxstan use the social services system to survive while they plan to blow up targets [Ressam] ? It is about security. And like most socialists you don't read or refute. There are numerous points as to why ID cards are necessary. In fact you have one it is called the SIN card. So you better go hand it back in.......since you don't want it. That a boy immoderate socialist, have to love your logic or er lack of it. -
Good post. As one Economist put it, in Canada, the sheep mentality means that private initiative, individualism and especially profits are BAAAAAD. Pre 1965 we had less gov't than the Americans. Maybe ask Grand-Dad if he felt 'less' Canadian then, then he does now with huge gov't, big debt and suffocating taxes. I doubt it.

Russia looks set to reject this nefarious nonsense - unless the EU coughs up more $ for our vodka loving friends. Gee, and I thought this was all about love and hugging trees......
