Western Standar is being Sued
Leader Circle replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think the Western Standard did the right thing by publishing those cartoons, but after seeing them, I saw nothing worth rioting over, let alone getting mad over. I have seen depictions of Jesus much worse than this, yet do you see any Christians burning other country's flags or threatening to kill the artist? The lawsuit is so fruitless, if any court recognizes it they are bigger idiots than the muslims throwing a fit over these cartoons. The Western Standard & Ezra Levant are definitely looking for recognition, but why not? They are delivering the news and as a upstart magazine, they are obviously going to go for the bigger news stories to get more subscriptions. If people boycott their magazine, it just gives them a bigger headline. I for one support the magazine and will renew my subscription when it runs out. I did not subscribe for this, I started subscribing when the Libranos story hit. That was their first big hit and they'll continue to grow if the play a little on the edge! -
Stephen Harper vs Scott Brison
Leader Circle replied to Nocrap's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I just watched tonight on CBC about the Liberal leadership race and Rex Murphy was saying Ashley MacIsaac for leader?? Was this a joke? Things are picking up for Conservative majority if he was serious! Did anyone else watch the national tonight? -
http://www.conservative.ca/EN/2692/41607 A Conservative Government will restore democratic accountability in the House of Commons by allowing free votes. A Conservative Government will make all votes free, except for the budget and main estimates. On issues of moral conscience, such as abortion, the definition of marriage and euthanasia, the Conservative Party acknowledges the diversity of deeply held personal convictions among individual Party members and the right of Members of Parliament to adopt positions in consultation with their constituents and to vote freely. I don't think anyone is wanting to take away his free vote but, a blatant attempt to insult your party and leader is pure assinine. This guy is looking for his 15 minutes of fame & every lefty media outlet will give it to him. When they are done with him, he will be nothing more than a toilet bug. Nobody is saying, shut your mouth on things you believe, use a little tact is all! What about Myron Thomspon? Another loose cannon? Nah, he's a good old fashion redneck. People don't get offended with rednecks, because the often don't understand them. Myron has had a few choice words, but usually tows the party line, Turner does not. I think he truly became the Conservative candidate as a farce(I wonder who ran against him for the Conservative candidacy in his riding?) and was never really a new age Conservative. He is stuck in Kim Campbell mode! Basically a defected Liberal with a blue tie!

Tony Blair now in the Hotseat over Loan Scandal
Leader Circle replied to Nocrap's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm not sure if Harper has any saving graces for me and I did feel sorry for Paul Martin. He took the fall for the sponsorship scandal, but the fact that the CPC just kept harping on it last election, could be one reason why they dropped in the polls and were only able to secure a minority. I realize that there are Conservative posters here, and when I bring up the issue of private healthcare, they immediately come to the PM's defense - not in the fact that he intends to uphold the Canada Health Act - but being loyal supporters, know that he is on their side of the issue; which is the move to private. However, he can't be on both sides. What I've seen with Mr. Harper so far, is that while he preaches ethics and accountability, his track record is anything but beyond reproach. Canadians wanted and deserved better. If this is a political forum, than all views should be welcome. If it is strictly a Stephen Harper fan club, then you're right. I have nothing to contribute. You didn't really answer my question. Is there anything you like about Stephen Harper? No this is not a Stephen Harper fan club, but we do try to weed out the useless and I am just trying to determine if you fit that category! Do you hate Stephen Harper? Is every post by you going to be, Stephen Harper and his ducks in a row trying to tear Canada apart, bringing in back street abortions, terrorizing the gay community, putting the nasty Bible back into schools, ruining healthcare, childcare and everything else??? You really seem to be one track minded. Actually she said she wasn't sure if he had any saving graces, which is an answer for you. Your post is one big abusive rant. Does critisism of Harper make you emotional? It was half answered, I was stretching it a bit. The reason I commented on her posting was, she only seems to be content on bashing Harper in EVERY POST, I was wondering if she had more to offer or if she could contribute legitimate reasons to HAte Harper. It is NOT an abusive rant. I suspect she is a former poster who was removed once before, just trying to weed that out. -
http://www.edmontonsun.com/News/Canada/200...508906-sun.html Well, that's one with the balls to openly claim his right to free speach so far. I think every Conservative MP who defends thier right to free expression deserves a vote in the next election. This guy needs to shut his mouth for the good of the people in his constituency. Why rock the boat a second time around? He is hurting his electorate more than himself. This is one guy who should have never got behind a mic. I guess the Conservatives need a more comprehensive background search on their candidates, because one idiot made his was through!

Just out of curiosity nocrap, is there anything you like about Harper? You really only seem to dwell on negatives. Help us out into thinking that maybe you are a worthy contributor here. Even with all of the Conservatives here, many will agree that Paul Martin DID in fact have good attributes. I thought he was pretty funny on the Rick Mercer Report! When Martin was elected, I was almost optimistic, because he was a breath of fresh air to Cretien! Alot of Martin's downfalls were because of Cretien's screwups and given a clean slate, I don't think he was a horrible PM, just got lead astray by past Liberal downfalls & poor advisers! -
What kind of military should Canada have
Leader Circle replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We need a military that, first and foremost, will defend our country's interest at home & abroad. The Afgan mission is as vital to us as it is the rest of the world. If we can slow the growth of terrorist regimes, we save our country & others from future attacks. We need to bolster our troops in Afganistan to make the transition smooth and hopefully ensure less casualities. Canada has been a peacekeeping country for years now and if we shrink our army like the past governments have, we will suffer. We are well respected around the world for the army contributions over the years and we can't afford to change that. We also need to supply our troops with up to date equipment so that when they enter a conflict, they are not going in empty handed. We need our military to defend our sovereignty in the north and keep countries like the US from trying to claim neutral status of OUR land. It's not necessary for Canada to be a superpower, we just need them to think we are not a pushover! Lets build a military we can be proud of! For all of the peace protestors, they need to realize the reason we have peace, is because we have a military and we have to fight to protect our freedom. The sixties are long gone! -
Stephen Harper vs Scott Brison
Leader Circle replied to Nocrap's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Brison is tainted! Aside from being a floor crosser, he is caught in this Income trust thing and had prior knowledge of what Goodale was going to do, despite saying he didn't. " In his e-mail, Brison told the CIBC employee - who had been critical of Liberal government actions affecting income trusts - that a change was in the pipeline, adding: "I think you will be happier very soon, this week probably." Brison's comments Tuesday were big turnaround from a day earlier when he said he didn't recall sending such an e-mail. " These statements make him a liar, so what else is he willing to do?? If the Liberals get him to be their leader, it should secure a majority for Harper!! We Conservatives, welcome Brison to the Liberal leadership!! -
Exposing the Private Healthcare Industry
Leader Circle replied to Nocrap's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I've been to MDS labs many times, since they do most of the bloodwork for Ontario, and they have always been polite and quick. I'm usually in and out within ten minutes. However, they messed up some test results and I had to go back three times before they got it right. My doctor was furious and his nurse said that they'd had a lot of problems with the lab. One of their maternity patients was told she had prostate problems, so figure that out. Human errors can happen anywhere. I have also spent a great deal of time at both our local public hospitals, and they have always been efficient; I have never been treated badly and have the utmost respect for their service. It's not perfect, and they are often short staffed, but this only began when Tony Clement (Ontarians know him as Two-Tier Tony) and the rest of Mike Harris' 'Whiz Kids' (including ironically two other Harper cabinet ministers: Flaherty and Baird), started their slash and burn closing down of hospitals and reduction of nursing staff. I still believe that public is the best and also believe that it is fixable. I Just don't believe that Harper intends to fix it. His financial backers would never allow it. The sky is falling.... The sky is falling!! I think a private/public mix with cut down the bs waiting times. I have found a way to bypass the public system at an ER, complain about chest pains!! Gets you through fast everytime!! We don't want for profit hospitals like the US, but a mix is going to benefit every Canadian! -
This website is such a farce. Pathetic Propaganda Website I received this on my email and it makes you want to pull your hair out, at the raw stupidity of the people who are willing to support it. I even signed this petition and posted my comment(which would not be popular with the petitioners) and was promptly deleted by the website admin. I believe in a universal childcare plan as an extention to the $100/month plan that the Conservatives brought forward in their platform, yet reading this petition, they would make you believe that Stephen Harper would be running small children over with a Hummer! LOL Many of the people signing it have no idea what they are signing or what childcare plan they are defending, they just sign blindly. This is the kind of thing that spawns from a left winger! When will people open their eyes?

Mostly good points about lefties, although I agree with Argus & August, that many are financially secure. Most seem to have a broad sweeping cause, like save the earth, trees, mankind etc. Many I find are good intentions, but seem to fall into publicity traps and are misconstrued as extremists which is not always the case. Someone once wrote on their signature or something about to fly a plane you need a right & left wing, which is so true! I don't dislike the left, because their is a place in the political forum for everyone, but I choose to disagree with their politics. If there were no unions, you'd have greedy employers, screwing their employees(not literally). If it were all union, not profits could ever be made. So you need both, just a mix of the two to find some middle ground! Not to run them down, but here is a few similarities I have found with many lefties: 1. Unionized 2. Homosexuals or supporters(Not very many gay Conservatives, that I know) 3. Drive foreign vehicles(Not Dodge, Chev or Ford) 4. Typically University educated(Many vocal lefties, at least) 5. Live in large cities. 6. Non-religious(Not as propular a similarity, but most aethiests & agnostic will come from the left) These are just a few I have found and there are major similarities in the right wingers too, but if you find someone with 3-4 of these things in common most of them would be left leaning. When I drive by a school or hospital in my area, I find it funny to see the make & models of the cars. Usually majority of them foreign, like Honda, VW, Mazda, & Nissan and I like in redneckville, if you go to bigger cities I am sure the numbers are comparative or greater. Anyway, my two cents.

This awfully sounds like someone we all know and is banned from this forum. Using CRAP. Anyone remember that doofus? THELIBERAL or ScottBrison Both of these idiots like to use the CRAP moniker for CPC. Here we go again. One of the rules of this forum is for posters to not bash the parties with name calling. You come out with an apologetic post, then you pull this shit, why don't you go somewhere else? The sky may be falling in your pathetic little world, but we don't need to hear it here. Go away.

This is Hard For Me to Say... But I Am Sorry
Leader Circle replied to Nocrap's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This guy reaks of a former poster trying to not get banned again! OR People have begun to set him to ignore, so he is trying to find his way in. NOt all lefties are shunned here as you may assume. There are many objective posters from both sides of the spectrum and not all righties will flame you. We do have some abusive righties, but for the most part, it is a well-balanced forum with opinions from both sides. This post is a good start if you truly want to be different, if it is just a ploy, it will get you nowhere. -
Considering that I started this thread, i am very happy to see people showing an interest in it. Im also happy that 41 people support me in saying "no more gay marriage" Put that in your pipe Layton! The problem with this vote is Black Dog has 20 different names that he logs into to vote FOR gay marriage, otherwise the against vote would be much larger. There are 2 or 3 hardcore flamers in here that try to skew every poll in their favor and try to wreck it for everyone else. Put no faith in that poll! (I am not accusing you of doing this though Mike hardner, I respect your opinion in this from the gay person's perspective.)

Just wondering what happened to Jay Hill with all the cabinet postings? He seemed like the obvious choice, did he not? Why did he get shut out and no mention of it?
-
I guess his crossing the floor begs the question, how much would he have gotten for his constituents as a member of the liberals? Vancouver, Toronto, & Montreal shut out the Conservatives to try to force another Liberal government. It did not work! Now as a constituent in one of these cities, you need some representation in the government, to avoid being shut out by this government. Even though I disagree with floor crossers, he actually did his constituents a favor. This also shows the faith in the Liberals has waned and that people are rethinking their commitment to a party with no direction and no viable leader or prospect. I suspect a high profile Liberal from Toronto will be the next to defect to the Liberals. A few names come to mind like, Jim Karygiannis, Dan McTeague, or maybe Ken Dryden. Dryden is the long shot here, but who knows?

Proportional representation
Leader Circle replied to compaq905's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
CC, check your Alberta results again. The Libs only got 15.3% of the vote in Alberta(which is high for them!)and they got no seats. You must be a Liberal to get a number so far from the truth!!! Alberta results -
Just wanted to mess with Norm's mind, no clue what the results are.
-
Libs have been wiped out in the east. So far they have one seat!

Government has only changed the definition of civil marriage. Religions who don't want to marry same sex couples don't have to. Why don't we just leave it at that? BD, how long before this right is taken away? You know it will be, in the political destruction of religious rights. How long ago was it that SSM was never going to happen?? If they want it, they'll get it. (SSM supporters...aka the oppressed minority!)

I am going to vote Conservative tomorrow
Leader Circle replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I am voting Conservative for many reasons, but the one that is fresh in my mind is: John Duffy! I don't hate to many people, but if given the chance I would dig this prick's eyes out with a spoon!! I don't know why, but I just can't stand him and I hope the Liberal bus runs his stupid ass over! Stand up for Canada!! LOL -
Which Party do you most agree with?

You just have to love how when it is a conservative "people are allowed to have their day in court before they're found guilty", but even with exhonoration of Martin by Justice Gomery, he has stilll been tarred and feathered with the no regard to the facts. If this candidate nominated the judge presiding over the case, then maybe he could be more confident like Martin was, by appointing Gomery. Idiot Politician, drop the bs about Martin being exhonorated, we all know Martin could never be found anything BUT innocent. If someone else had have done the investigation, he'd have been found guilty!! I get so tired of hearing this same line of BS from sad-sack Liberals.
