  1. You can find a psychologist to say whatever you agree with. You can find all sorts of studies that say the same thing. And, you can find opposing views. The problem is; a psychologist who believes in spanking knows that to say as such would invite complete hostility from the left. You guys can't even separate spanking from child beating for crying out loud. This is another form of social engineering
  2. It's not just a question of "where life begins", I think life is there right from semen and egg. I'm not against contraception or tube tying by any means - I don't believe the Monty Python song stating that "every sperm is sacred" either. The question i think about is; when does a fetus become a baby? And... if you can predict mental abnormalities such as Down Syndrome, then is that a fetus or a baby? Even abortion I'm not 100% against, it's the stage of the abortion that I take issue with.
  3. Instead of aborting, why not just wait until babies are born then decide whether to kill them or not?
  4. But, I thought you said that the Gov't was panicking...was feeling the heat. You said that the kids and families had won thanks to the BCTF. Why the change in your thoughts? Why would the teachers vote in a deal (86%) that they're unhappy with?
  5. No one is advocating for "beating children".
  6. You're being intentionally obtuse.
  7. Really, you've never experienced a 1-3YO get violent? WoW, good for you! Unfortunatley for me, I have kids, many nieces and nephews, had a daycare, have a wife in the school system and now have daughters that babysit...and have seen it with nearly every child I've encountered.
  8. I've never beaten a child either, I've never hit a childs face or head, never used a switch or a belt and never spanked a child repeatedly. The fact is; children (when they're born) are selfish little people, the understand getting what they want any way they can. They will manipulate and when that doesn't work...resort to violence. A twin will shove their sibling to the ground or crack them over the head to take what they want and not think twice about it. Kids don't learn the concept of reason or empathy until after 2YO and even then, it's a continuing process. A child doesn't actually understand the concept of taking away privileges or the naughty chair as a form of consequence until they are out of the toddler stage. All they know is they're mad.
  9. That's not true at all! How come kids from non-spanking families are violent towards others? Hitting and kicking are the most primitive (or displays) of anger. Kids do it from the time they have even the slightest control of their limbs. They hit, grab and shove to get/take what they want. It's nature.
  10. That article suggests that the non-spankers are more educated, thoughtful and considerate. That right there suggests that parents who feel they are those things shouldn't spank - therefore they don't - or don't admit to it. It's complete crap. Spanking shows a clear cause and effect - it's basic, and with the childs developing mind basic discipline is effective. Spanking does not create violent children, lack of discipline creates violent children. I've seen kids hit, kick and spit on their parents while mom stands there trying to reason with their 3 YO, it's pathetic. If a kid doesn't have to respect his/her parent, what chance does a day care worker, teacher or other child have. Go check out the day care, Park or School and I'll bet you a dollar to a doughnut the most aggressive kid in the group belongs to a "considerate" non-spanker.
  11. Look, there were 4 posts addressing school discipline - 2 of which WCR contributed her own experiences. Although I understand both sides to the argument, I believe that WCR reacted stronger than many would and hence fuelled BC 2004. Is the video really that bad? Well, to some it is, others not so much. BC2004 should've been more sensitive realizing WCR's strong objection, but that doesn't make him horrible, just a little sociopathic.
  12. I'm just saying' that maybe you have an attachment to that scene that others may not have. You can PM me.
  13. Maybe you're overreacting just a smidge.
  14. BTW - I posted a scene from a family sitcom, I would not post smut on this board.
  15. WCR "You denigrated this thread into spanking of female high school students with their skirts hiked up" "You showed a video of female students being spanked with their skirts pulled up" I think you starting to come undone, maybe you should get some rest.
  16. in all fairness WCR, you guys were discussing school spankings (by strap, ruler etc.) when the video was posted...And, you did mention the hiked up skirt, but not that it was another woman doing the spanking. I think the video evidence is acceptable.
  17. The deal is almost the same deal that was offered before school was to begin. Sure, the BCTF saved the gov't some money, but the teachers themselves would've come out better had they settled earlier. The teachers did this for the kids...right? So, why all the angst? P.S - Don't take it out on me if you and your wife are pissed - talk to Mr. Iker.
  18. I've spanked my kids, but very rarely. I've given them the diapered spank at about 1 YO. A spank and firm language shows your child how you feel about their actions. I don't think I ever had to spank one past about 2ish. After about 2YO, the firm language and the threat of a spank was enough, they kinda got it by then. The worst kids always...always belong to those parents who say "I never spank" or "we don't believe in saying no" or "we believe in reasoning with our toddler".
  19. Class sizes are not really an issue, class composition is a CUPE matter (and I believe the gov't promised $80m for them). To reduce class size by even one child per would cost billions on that deal. The BCTF wants more members and they'll get more (every year) - not as many as they want, but more.
  20. Why aren't you angry at a union that strikes for 3 weeks to sign a deal that probably needed no strike at all. BTW - Just as the Trudeau thread, I can't believe that you would vote anything other than NDP.
  21. I still like the switch! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kkDw61Edc8
  22. The guy probably won't survive this! You people...Bob, Jacee are fucked up!
  23. She did as every other premier would do, she let the Minister of Education and his team negotiate the deal. If she was involved, you'd be calling her a micromanager. Once everyone settles down, it will be clear that the deal is good for everybody - taxpayers included. I honestly don't know what your gripe is.
  24. What could be more democratic than a negotiated settlement? WoW, you people are tough to please. BTW - It was appropriate for Christy to have a press conference on the settlement.
  25. If your wife's really a teacher, i'm not surprised that you're disappointed.
