BC Teachers Getting Screwed...Again

Yes, Kudos indeed. And also thank her for striking to accomplish absolutely nothing except her own raise. -
Should Women/Men Pay Different Rates for the CPP?
Hal 9000 replied to August1991's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Well, with everything we know, only 2 people did vote that women should pay more. That should make you feel pretty good. -
I don't want to go out on a limb here, but is there any chance that this shooting was instigated because the shooter was muslim.

If you read the actuarial report (and I think it was you who directed me there) with any amount of common sense, you can only conclude that the ROI for women is greater than that of men. -

Yes or no buddy, that's all it takes and we can move forward from there. -

You're too smart to answer my 2 questions, I'll give you that much! -

Citing a special interest group is not empirical evidence. If there is a question you'd like me to answer, ask it! I've asked you 2 point blank questions and you refuse to answer. -

Should Women/Men Pay Different Rates for the CPP?
Hal 9000 replied to August1991's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Two questions; Would you agree that men and women pay the same percentages into CPP? Would you agree that men and women take out the same percentages? -
Sorry, I didn't know you were going to compare a guy going home to help his country and a dude joining a terrorist organization to behead westerners. You win! BTW - A lot of seemingly intelligent people are easily susceptible to suggestion or manipulation. Level of schooling doesn't necessarily make someone wise or less naive.

Should Women/Men Pay Different Rates for the CPP?
Hal 9000 replied to August1991's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
I still think that the ratio of money put in vs. money paid out skews toward women. All cyber has been saying is that life expectancy doesn't matter. Considering that there are more than 10% more men paying in to the system, and 7% more woman than men making initial claims. Add in the length of life factor and the mortality rate of men and women before retirement and I'd say logic shows that by ratio, women come out ahead in the money in vs money out department. I don't need a pass for anything, just being truthful, however, If you can find where I said that women should pay more - good on ya! -

I know it's obvious, don't know why people like Cyber keep trying to put up crap as proof. And...I've never claimed even once that women should pay more...so...I don't know why you're addressing me on this. -

I've stated that nobody has put forward any real stats that shed light to the issue and your here buying hook, line and sinker the obviously bias report from a women's group in Halifax as proof positive of whatever it is you're arguing. I learned long ago to question reports from special interest groups who have an agenda. Just like the report I debunked last night, this report is salted to skew the results. I would like to see the actual data and not just the headlines. -
Well, I'm glad you asked because...Yes, I do!

The pensions are directly tied to income, my assertion is the ratio of money paid in vs. money taken out. I think you're discrediting many factors at work here. Your link is from a Nova Scotia women's group attempting to pay women more pensions and EI benefits based on non-paying working roles...basically motherhood. Whether one agrees with the sentiment or not, it's an agenda more than anything. I agree with a lot of things mentioned in that article such as the tax issues, but some of it is straight up propaganda. -

I can't believe we even entertain the idea of legally giving employees say over their employers regarding policy. I'd love to demand that my employer pay me to prepare or give me more crew people, but no, i just have to carry on and do the best job with what i get. Teachers really don't even pretend to live in the same world as the rest of us. -

With all the stats that have put forward, there is still nothing that proves anything. I think based on life expectancy alone the ratio of money paid in and money taken out, simple logic would indicate that it does skew more towards women than men. Now, listen carefully; 1) Women should not pay more for this. 2) IMO, society (especially the youth) does not do nearly enough for seniors (men or woman) - in fact it's shameful, and no matter what they get, it's not enough. -
If you've seen hypnotist show, they can have a crowd of 500 or so people, maybe 15 or 20 get on stage and maybe 5 are good candidates for being hypnotized. These groups use that similar method. Everything from shammy sales to hypnotists to conspiracy theorists to Joel Osteen, if you have a big enough audience, you'll make at least a few sales. There will always be a certain group of people who are susceptible to easy manipulation. The way western society is portrayed makes it even easier for radical groups to enlist feeble minded people to their cause - whatever that might be.

I sense that this is one of those awkward threads where people who hate everything Christian, will suddenly side with this muslim woman's religious choice.
