  1. Hey Fatty is not a microagression. Im guessing that we'll all agree that that is just a rude asshole comment. Asking a black person if they'd like to join you for fried chicken and watermelon is rude and bigoted too - albeit funny. But, if it has become offensive to ask someone where their from, then I think we've gone too far. Are we gonna report people for asking a black person if they saw the game or if we ask an asian for help on a math problem.
  2. I know this is anecdotal, but whatever, I will make a point at the end. In high school I had an english teacher whom i didn't care for much, and I don't suspect he liked me either. During final exams I was somehow able to ace the test. One major part of the test was Shakespeare (Macbeth, I believe), and it just seemed easy for me. After the test, the whole school was given options to go on several field trips, I chose golfing. Arriving late, I was stuck with the last grouping - the teachers, including my english teacher! After several holes, we started talking and I gave hime the old "why do we have to study shakespeare" routine and proceeded to call him out for not explaining the meaning of the work well enough. He agreed (surprisingly) that knowing Shakespeare wouldn't become a big part of my life and then responded with a comment something like this; You see Harold, there are times when a teacher needs to help you find answers and then there are times when a teacher needs to teach you how to learn, and most of what I do is help you learn how to learn. Of all the things that teacher taught me (and I had him 3 straight years), the best lesson was that day at the golf course - just learn how to learn. Now, the point is; In today's world teachers seem to have decided that they need to tell students what to think and why and have gotten away from the above concept. The evidence is out there, and as I mentioned earlier, my daughter is now living it. P.S - The above story is true to the best of my memory.
  3. My daughter is in university psychology and this year on day 1 the teacher said just one thing "white males are the privileged class and we'll be working everything that that starting point". She came home for reading break talking about microagressions. She doesn't buy into it - she's too smart for that, but I tell her to just go with it for the marks.
  4. If they say it defaces the poppy, then it defaces the poppy! Who are you/we to disagree? P.S - Way to be supportive Boges!
  5. You guys are nuts if you don't like that song. The music is haunting, the lyrics very accurate to what happens in that situation. That song captures exactly what it is supposed to capture - It's about as perfect as you can get. A very real tribute to those people and those of us that continue to live through this type of stuff on a regular basis. The wind in the wires made a tattletale sound When the waves broke over the railing Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours? And all that remains is the faces and the names of the wives and the sons and the daughters Wow, powerful stuff. If this song doesn't move you, than you've never experienced life on the water.
  6. When talking about "white privilege", who are supposed to comparing to; Asians, Blacks, First Nations, Indians?
  7. These Stanford kids should maybe do a study on white guilt, which I believe has had a larger and more negative impact than "white privilege".
  8. Who exactly is handing out white privilege?
  9. Really, you think this is about kids...or sports? It stopped being about kids and sports when mom decided that her political agenda was worth more than her daughter's sports.
  10. This sums things up nicely; http://www.alaskasalmonranching.com/kids-as-collateral-damage-no-problem-says-activist-mom/
  11. Sports are all about sponsorship, without it, there would be no sports. The league told he she wouldn't have to wear the company logo or pose for team photos, but that wasn't enough, they chose to agitate the league and everyone involved with the team. If mom wants to push her political agenda at the cost of her child's athletic future, then so be it.
  12. Shouldn't we at least have a common understanding of the words "disease", "terminal" and "pain" before accepting assisted suicide.
  13. I'll say, choosing a best Pink Floyd album is rather difficult. At one point or another, I've considered 4 or 5 of them to be the best PF album - depending on my current condition or circumstances. Wish you were here is certainly a great album, I could listen to "Shine on..." all day long, and probably have, but the song "Wish you were here" (included in my all-time top 10) has been so overplayed that I find myself leaning away from playing it. "Dark Side..." probably has a better flow and more individual stuff and "Meddle" (One of these days, Fearless, Echoes) is cover to cover good but...As time goes by, I have personally found that "The Wall" still keeps my interest better than any other Pink Floyd album. P.S - I reserve the right to change my mind on this.
  14. No particular order: Van Morrison - Moondance AC/DC - Back in Black Beatles - Revolver Pink Floyd - The Wall Sex Pistols - Never Mind...
  15. These names weren't offensive to indians until we told them they should be. And, actually the name "Indian" is still acceptable in the USA.
  16. I truly believe that pencils are responsible for people mispelling, cars are responsible for drunk drivers and spoons are to blame for people being fat.
  17. But you do know that political correctness and microaggressions didn't just appear out of thin air right?
  18. Why is it an "inane construct"?
  19. If he wears one of those top "buns", I assume he's one of those soft wimpy types.
  20. I dont understand, are you saying that Marxism doesn't exist or that it doesn't exist in the western world or that political correctness is not part of the Marxist belief system? I'm not radical by any stretch, but it's pretty clear that Marxism is alive and thriving in the western world.
  21. It all comes down to Cultural Marxism.
  22. The Burka and Niqab aren't really necessary, but the Hijab is still a pretty sexy look.
  23. I'm trying to see this woman's point of view - that's all! I don't know (nor do any of us) the context in which he presented the clock or what he actually said to the teacher. Or, how she actually acted when seeing the radio. Did she panic? Apparently not. Did she have it checked out? Sure she did. You're the one calling her hysterical.
  24. I think Obama is an agitator at best - at worst, he's starting to become a full on race baiter.
  25. Wow, check your pulse dude, you're way too wound up. The object looks way more like a bomb than it does a clock, especially to a female teacher -obviously. And, if a kid brought a lighter that looked like a gun (and those do exist), you bet a teacher would investigate the object.
