  1. Did the Branch Davidians, outside of alleged child abuse, actually hurt or threaten anyone outside of their own compound?
  2. Yes and as I said, the majority of said retiring Tories, will be 65 or older next year.........I fail to see the issue, internally, it allows the Tories time to field replacement candidates well ahead of the next election.
  3. What background information? What parties will run with "medically-assisted death" as part of their 2015 platform? I fail to see why you would bring politics into this discussion, other than to infer the Tories are opposed and the Liberals are in favour, just not in favour enough to adopt as a 2015 promise.
  4. And the Government has told the BCTF that if they return with no job action, they will lift the partial lock-out........leaving the both sides to negotiate, well not impacting students educations or teachers mortgage payments.
  5. That's a very good point......both my sister and brother in-law are teachers, nearing retirement......If the strike goes into the new school year more than a week, they will never recoup their lost income from the strike.
  6. Saved money, that in past strikes, was used for signing bonus for the teachers.
  7. So your posting of the Mackay and Trudeau quotes, coupled with the LPC's resolution, was a demonstration in what? edit to add: I can understand no reference to the Greens, NDP or any other fringe parties
  8. Flaherty aside, the majority of said MPs, will be 65 or older next year.....
  9. I haven't made up anything, other then to question what the stance of the LPC is on "medically-assisted death" going into the 2015 election....Don't be so sensitive Waldo.
  10. No I clearly stated: Does that leave room for the LPC to not adopt "medically-assisted death" as part of their 2015 platform?
  11. Who determines the conditions to the LPC's adopted resolution for “medically-assisted death”? I know it infers public consultation…..but consultation over what?
  12. So, like I asked: So the LPC has yet to adopt "medically-assisted death" as a 2015 plank....
  13. George W Bush and Peter Mackay are two that I know of.......Bush has challenged Bill Clinton, and Mackay, John Baird.
  14. From your prior post: Seems rather clear on it's intent.....with a predetermined ending of course. Are you suggesting the Liberals will "fix" issues with palliative care, and in turn, "medically-assisted death" won't then be needed? So the Liberal Party of Canada has yet to decide if "medically-assisted death" will be part of their 2015 platform? If not, when will the LPC decide the planks of their platform, and in turn, release it to the public? Like I suggested, do we have to wait until the writ is dropped?
  15. I fail to see the Liberal’s point of public consultation when their own resolution has a predetermined outcome………and from your quoted Trudeau passage, it appears he also has reservations on the file. And from a report earlier this year: It seems Doctors too share reservations on the subject. Have the Liberals actually adopted doctor assisted suicide, or like the majority of their policies, keeping their actual stance close to their chest until the writ (and further polling) has dropped?
  16. I see a difference between an individual making the decision, or legally consenting to another making the choice prior along the same lines of a DNR. Where I have issue, is others making the choice for society’s most vulnerable: Children, the mentally ill and the elderly.
  17. Context is important.......From my previous post, to which member Big Guy replied:
  18. Had your father signed the various DNR like papers beforehand? I never suggested otherwise......clearly I said children with a terminal illness........So do we start deciding upon the fate of sick children?
  19. Really? Isn’t that ultimately the individual’s choice? Since you’re experienced in dealing with decisions relating to other people’s lives, you should be able to answer how we as a collective society would euthanize children and the mentally ill. In other words, how do we decide to kill societies most vulnerable? Do we consider impute from a 7 year old dying of leukemia? What of a bipolar person that is off their medication?
  20. Obviously a very nuanced discussion, that at some point, will touch everyone. Though I’m fortunate to still have my parents both in their 70s & 80s and in good health, I’ve seen my wife’s parents pass from Cancer and a stroke after suffering from dementia for many years. Though I would favour doctor-assisted suicide as an extension to current end-of-life planning, I do also understand the slippery slope argument….First, what of a child with a terminal illness? Second, what of a person suffering from a severe mental illness? Third, what of current life insurance policies that don’t pay out for suicide? Is doctor-assisted suicide only an option for adults and people of a sane mind? I feel until we can answer, in-depth, any possible scenarios that could befall such a course of action, as a society, we should tread slowly.
  21. Didn't the autopsy confirm the bullet entry points being on Brown's front?
  22. I agree....is Johnson in custody for the robbery?
  23. Where does it confirm you your suggestion that Brown was shot from the back, turned around, and was shot from the front?
  24. Have they suggested Brown was shot from the back, in a raised right arm, turned around, and was shot several times from the front? If not, why do you suggest as such?
