  1. Don’t get me wrong, if a Canadian is taken hostage in another country, I’ve no issue with our Government aiding said nation in attempting to retrieve the person, but I wholly disagree with offering cash….
  2. Fassbender's media interviews are within the spirit of the blackout, since he's not a part of the negotiation team………….. Another tidbit I’ve just come by: The BCTF has sent out a directive to all its members, barring them from tutoring or running an impromptu daycare during striking hours……in effect disallowing it’s own members, teachers, to earn some money to make up for lost wages and the strike pay that never was……
  3. The BC Federation of Labour is doing the add campaign for the teachers, since the BCTF is broke………
  4. There's clearly a political aspect in the mix, started by yourself.
  5. The Liberals appear willing to announce their intention to legalize pot……and their views on abortion…..why the obstruction with “medically-assisted death”?
  6. A benefit of having a BCTF delegate for an in-law I suppose
  7. Exactly........if Johnny or Jill heeded travel warnings, they wouldn't get kidnapped....simple concept really.
  8. I never suggested "setting up a government office to negotiate with them" was a good idea........And no, JTF2 and the Armed Forces as a whole, are not a viable option to independently deal with overseas hostage situations.
  9. Why would you assume that?
  10. W already has already done the bucket. http://youtu.be/bJaDBzaAPAc
  11. BC Federation radio adds should start this week.........
  12. So why would you suggest JTF2 would be capable of carrying out a similar operation as the botched rescue of Foley by the SEALS? The JTF2 (and CSOR as a whole) are very small, and lack the resources to conduct such a hypothetical hostage rescue operation.
  13. Then why the contention over Canada’s JTF2 lacking the ability to independently conduct a hostage rescue on foreign soil, sans a heavy reliance upon the Americans?
  14. I agree, Clinton, like the George H & W are good sports for charity.
  15. Supported heavily by SOCOM..........
  16. Agreed........I hear it during the weekly family dinner.......Now what I've just heard, the 200 BCTF delegates voted to not return it's members back to work until a deal is reached....Of course teachers didn't get to vote on this.... Also, the BC Federation of Labour is going to stick their snout in further, with some factions calling for a General Strike!!
  17. To add to this topic Will enough Liberals, NDP and Tories support these two Private Members Bills in the Fall?
  18. Of course, back then (and into the 90s) teachers benefited from the "Special Class" for special needs students...... I agree, the BCTF rejects wholesale the contribution their brothers and sisters in CUPE bring to the table
  19. Unlike the SEALS, Delta or SAS, JTF2 (and the Canadian Forces themselves) lack the ability to operate in a benign environment independently, let alone a hostile region in a far flung craphole.
  20. In these circumstances, since it addresses composition, yes. Other students don't have assigned an individual EA…………Does a child with severe Downs Syndrome require a University educated teacher to help them color or go to the bathroom?
  21. Zero negotiations……….It only begets further hostage taking.
  22. Yes and no, class composition is only an issue with elementary school teachers, not Middle or High school……..the wage and benefits are very much a part of the equation, which is why the BCTF often touts the fact that they are one the lowest paid group of teachers in Canada!!! Of course, supply and demand comes into play, as there are far too many teachers in the province, and is one of the reasons the BCTF has rejected a BC Government offer (which is already bargained into the recent CUPE contract) for additional CUPE teaching aides…….with the BCTF demanding additional teaching support for special needs students being met with Teachers (and BCTF members) in the classroom and not educational assistants (CUPE members).
  23. That's what I thought......I've read years ago, one of the cult members had his FFL, making all their weapons legal, with the only concern being the lack of tax stamps on the fusion of M-16 lowers to their AR-15s.......
  24. So you'd favour a tax increase to fund the BCTF's demands? I wonder what the majority of BC residents would favour?
  25. Or better yet, an increase in taxes to fund a new teacher contract, and in turn, a new contract for nurses (who are on deck)..... I advocate for an “educational consumption tax” to be placed on school supplies, coupled with an annual service charge, along the same lines as the MSP, for BC parents with children in public schools….
