F-35 Purchase Cancelled; CF-18 replacement process begins

What plan have they offered, and who would they partner with? Name names.....offer an opinion/guess of your own. -
Did it? What colour, and well we're at it, what sex, was the police officer?

The French have not outlined a detailed plan to build Rafale in Canada…….they have no partners to do so with. And you are comparing apples to oranges……P&W Canada, a division of an American company, can (and already have) shifted a portion of the production of the F135 engine for the F-35 to Canada…..Snecma doesn’t make engines, or even military engine components in Canada (or North America)…….The same with weapons, avionics, the fuselage etc…………about the only possible opportunity would be with Thales Canada, but of course they don’t currently produce airborne military radars in Canada. There is near zero chance that Canada would procure a French fighter aircraft…….There is a greater chance of procuring the Saab Gripen NG, even though Saab pulled itself from contention. -

Currently none........Unlike the Indians, that already have their own domestic (fighter) industry, Canada does not.......So what Canadian company would be retooled and how much would it cost and who pays for it? And LockMart has no need.......most of the Canadian companies are already subsidiaries of larger American/British companies, have years of niche experience producing material for past American programs and have no historic ties to the French (military) industries, especially producing French fighters.... Why would a Boeing or Lockheed Canadian division help the French? -
Importing DoD military surplus is difficult and often requires an end user agreement.......Russian/Chinese/Eastern Bloc not so much.

I wouldn't rule that out........if an order was based on that condition.....the real concern is the remaining life of our current Hornets. -

.....The final nail was hammered when Romney lost......Funds would be much better spent on the F-22/F-15/Super Hornet replacement.... -

The US Government won't allow a technology transfer......the same reason the Super Hornet, Eagle and Falcon were eliminated from contention...... So what Canadian company could produce the Rafale in a similar fashion? -

Including the cost of rebooting production? -
Watch it Waldo, the black (US army surplus) choppers are on their way to whisk you away to a FEMA concentration camp.

What Canadian manufacturer? And of course the French will give them full technology transfer; the Rafale is a near 30-year-old design……. -

About as credible as a “Super Arrow” based off of the failed YF-23… -
What about it? The downsizing of the US Army made a great many former MRAPs surplus......they couldn't even give them all away, and had to pay to have the majority scraped in place.........I thought you'd favour recycling?
-
Likewise Canadian police.........The Queen's cowboys was not only formed by former military, but based on a mounted rifle regiment of the British army.......I fail to see the negative of employing former military.
-
Well no, you didn't.......All that has changed between present day and decades past, is the technology.
-
How did the police cause rioting and looting? Nothing says social justice like free stuff.......I take it, the local store owners share some of the blame with the police?
-
So the police are wearing protective clothing, employing an armoured truck, and use rifles of a near 60 year old design with modern sights..........And the problem is what? And how is that different from police of the 1930s employing, then modern, PPE, armoured cars and Tommy guns?
-
Exactly.......I've no idea why the PIGS would need protective clothing to counter rioters and looters throwing fire bombs and bricks etc???
-
Police have been using armoured cars, automatic weapons and riot control agents for decades....
-
What militarization? Members of the police wearing Nomex uniforms, ballistic plate carriers, safety glasses and helmets?
-
As I said....it clearly depends on what is found out after an investigation……..If the officer is found of wrong doing, that is not an indictment against all police officers……
-
That clearly depends.......did said teen attack a police officer and attempt to grab his service pistol?
-
Sure, the police serving and protecting with military carbines..........
-
Makes sense to get the State Police and Guard involved.......the locals police are probably in need of relief......Of course the tin-foil constituency will love actual Guardsmen in the streets…….With that said, leaving them alone would probably allow the whole thing to die of natural causes once the looted stores ran out of inventory.
