Do what too? Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun, hence a State with an armed populace isn't that powerful.......and rightfully so.

Eateries in Chinese town hold dog meat festival amid outcry

In Olongapo? Never tried monkey, "but heard" with $20, one could get a catfish sandwich on a sugar bun, a case of San Miguel and a $**T River Queen.........Different strokes, for different folks makes the World go around -
Without a doubt........it would seem the way forward is obvious.

Most phones have safe internal operating pressures in 10000-70000 psi range? Who knew?
-
I find it funny that the Governments not on side with gun owners typically favor mandatory, regulatory compliance with their social engineering experiments, with the assurance that the State will always have the populace's best interests at heart, interests that the State tell the populace are in its best interests........noncompliance results in a visit by agents of the State, armed with guns no doubt, to ensure said interest's of the State are complied with.
-
My smartphone doesn't, with any frequency, emit projectiles through a chemical reaction that results in internal pressures ranging from 10000-70000 psi.....none the less, flaws associated with natural physics and social-regulatory compliance aside, how does chip removal phone call follow-ups ensure one doesn't further ignore legal requirements and commit further criminal acts with said now untraceable gun?
-
Without a doubt, hence an obvious requirement for further mental health research/outreach/treatment........but with the far more daily gun violence (In the United States, Mexico and Canada), most are drug related.........which shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone with a passing knowledge of the prohibition era in the United States.
-
Clearly the gun lobby has got to Mother Jones Exactly.......its not rational. MADD didn't go after makers of cars and booze......
-
Yes indeed, the last time the State attempted to control guns and powder, not only did they not comply, they killed the agents of the State sent to enforce this mandate and then threw a Tea Party........ Your GPS chips would be removed, and then so to the Government...
-
And perhaps you're not familiar with reality, and how even if feasible, one would implant a GPS unit in 300 million firearms in the United States.....one need only look at the compliance levels (lack there of) with the recently mandated registry of firearms in New York and Connecticut......gun owners openly refused, marching on State capitals and deriding both politicians and law enforcement in town hall meetings......likewise the fact that City/State/County law enforcement largely refuse to enforce such State laws for their own safety says it all......hence:
-
And of course, there are over 300 million guns and upwards of ~8-10 million tons of ammunition in the United States.........enough already in private hands for the next six or seven civil wars.........a Government that attempted to mandate such a plan would likely find itself deposed rather quick.
-
Exactly.......and Smart-Gun went bankrupt.
-
Fear is a powerful thing, and is also why the gun-control movement dances upon the graves of victims of criminal violence to attempt to further their own agenda....... And by all means, please provide your significant evidence that owning a gun increases ones risk of death by gun.......but, said evidence, based on distorted statistics, does not make mention that it is based on gun ownership/gun violence rates, which with American data, includes those engaged in criminal activity.....In essence, criminals that own guns are more likely to die from guns, then criminals without guns or law abiding citizens, gun owners and not....your "evidence" makes no distinction. As you were saying about "fear" as a tool....... And no, groups like the NRA are reflective of its membership, as most American gun owners see a firearm in the house as no different than having house/car insurance.......something that one hopes they never need, and the vast majority don't, but when/if they do, its invaluable.
-
Well said, and I would suggest, because of these typical irrational emotion laden outbursts after such the events, most gun owners are unable to follow the logic when they too are "attacked" by the antis for the actions of a deranged killer.......in turn, "we" further cement our distrust in the antis motivations and respond in kind with emotional rhetoric (and by buying more guns and ammo)..........
-
Right, but then you're responding to a comment I made in discussion over a specific type of gun (AR-15) that is demonized in these topical conversations, even though more Americans are killed annually with bats/clubs/hammers etc then by rifles, including AR-15s.........hence the fear surrounding this specific firearm is unfounded by the numbers.
-
Maybe, I don't know, but then, I'm not the one suggesting bats, hammers, AR-15s or lakes should be banned All of which, per the FBI, are used in relatively few homicides annually in the United States........of all the fear mongering made over the AR-15, the most popular and most produced modern rifle in the United States, one would think the actual crime statistics would show its use far more in the commission of gun violence..........but since its not, could it be, all the fear encompassing the ArmaLite Rifle # 15 is unfounded? I'm truly gobsmacked!!!
-
And to think, the number of blunt objects found on any school ground
-
Yeah, why?
-
Exactly, namely when more Americans are killed annually by baseball bats and hammers.........

His economic policies, help the little guy on main street and small private banks and burn down the trough on Wall Street etc, are already being panned by some (both the left and right), but largely, the minute media attention he is receiving is for his verbal flubs (WRT to the shooting, saying accident, when he meant incident) much like the last race.........The guy isn't stupid, doesn't come from money (His parents were dirt cotton farmers), and though he is without a doubt a religious-social conservative (which offends many), he sure does suffer from the Oopsies when talking...... I really have nothing against Perry, he's not an ass like a Trump or Cruz, but I really do think this is Jeb's race to loose, and that of the current field, Rubio or Walker (future of the party) will likely end up on the bottom of the ticket........But I'd think Perry would make a good addition to the Federal Cabinet, in either Veterans Affairs, Agriculture or the interior........
-
Of course you doubt it, but then, you have little knowledge on the subject......for example, the Americans are unable to purchase a whole host of firearms as outlined in the 1968 Gun Control Act, likewise in many States automatic arms (sans Class 3 States), nor firearms produced in China or the majority from Russia (Milsurps).......all weapons that are common place in the arsenals of the Mexican drug cartels.
-
Exactly, and in Canada, organized crime is obtaining types of firearms that are prohibited for sale to lawful Canadian gun owners.......and in many cases, firearms that most Americans can't even purchase.
-
Exactly And the majority of the American made weapons they have obtained are off of bribed, surrended and dead Mexican police and army.......the cartels are not smuggling in automatic rifles and carbines, heavy machine guns, grenade launchers and RPGs from Bob's knife & gun store in backwoods Texas.....so much so, the German government has halted weapons sales to Mexican police and army out of fear that the cartels will obtain them "secondhand"....

Without a doubt Perry was forced to go "full Tea Party", he is after all a "born again Republican" (former Texas Blue-Dog Democrat)......And I was personally shocked with his piss-poor "performance" as a "Tea Partier" during the lead-up to 2012, after having witnessed Perry (and W.) firsthand well living/working in Texas........I still feel, if Perry had of been himself, the same Perry that effectively ran Texas for over a decade (the 5th or 6th largest economy in the World) he would have won the GOP ticket and made a better showing against Obama (still might not have won)....... For 2016, though I still respect Perry, I doubt he'll be able to walk back his 2011/12 performance, despite being healthier, wearing the same glasses as my Mother, and allowing some of his (and wife's) better personal traits be known (His work with veterans as Governor, personally lobbying the Federal Government behind closed doors for mental health benefits and his family's "adoption" of Marcus Luttrell), things that he'd kept quite (good taste) in 2011/12.......... Though on paper his campaign looks better, I still doubt it will be enough.........but in a (Jeb) Bush White House, I'd think ole Rick Perry would make a fine VA Secretary....... with or without the old lady glasses.
