  1. Some women are competent Shady. What extreme right female politician do you think is more competent than Hillary? How about Michelle Bachman?
  2. Still quite unsettling for countries that fear either freedom fighters or terrorists. Airplane related issues seem to be a popular way of seeking revenge.
  3. It really must be that the GOP can't get over Romney's screw up in that debate that literally clinched the presidency for Obama. They really do need to just get over it. Why can't they stick with Obamacare as their issue? Ohhhhhh, riiiggghhhttttt! They're on the wrong side of that one too. So how about the colour of Obama's skin? That's been time tested and proven to work in that country!
  4. At least Chretien had the smarts to recognise US aggression with their phony Iraq war. Harper signs us on to anything that the US dreams up as a necessity. And oh what a good reason. US/Nato encroachment on Russia's borders which has been going full force since the fall of the Soviet Union! The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming! Soon?
  5. Small business? There's an idea! Show the big box stores that you can compete by undercutting them! I think it's entirely possible if you limit your greed to 2 or 3 bucks an hour. Cause Milty Friedman told us it was all about greed didn't he.
  6. The fringe supports the pipeline Shady? More like 60/40 for right now and support is fading. Sometimes the political right need to consider that the economy doesn't benefit immediately and a better outcome may be realized later by not rushing into a pipeline. Sort of like your comment on Bush2 who everybody knows now was one of the worst. He would have never bothered to risk his presidency on a health care system for his people as Obama has done. See?
  7. Time to send in Nato. If the will of the people isn't good enough for the Crimea and the Southwest of the Ukraine then it's not good enough for Scotland. We'll arm the IRA with short range rockets to make the Scots behave. The nerve!
  8. Keepitsimple, Yes keep it simple and say we want abortion of demand. But be socially responsible and try to eliminate the reasons why a woman would want an abortion. No decent person in a democracy should expect to dictate to women any more than that. Let's not be Nazis like the US and force women to carry an unwanted child, let's try to help women who want abortions proactively before they even feel a need for an abortion. Why, it's as if everyone doesn't already know that women consider abortion the last resort.
  9. Argus, some of us think that anybody who takes a totally con stand on abortion shouldn't be allowed to be an MP. It's the kind of irrational dogma they immerse themselves in south of the border. JT obviously understands there are sensible limitations but he's going to let Harper's boys and girls spew out their hate on the issue. Regardless of whether Stephen is afraid of it or not.
  10. Gee shady, maybe it's the rabid right that supports it and the rest are supporting Obama's footdragging. Rabid right as in teabaggers crazies.
  11. Creating jobs digging holes and filling them in could be a short term fix for the systemic unemployment problem. There are lots of unemployed who would rather do that as opposed to social assistance or unemployment enjoyment dole. And there's little doubt that the political right would rather have them doing something instead of getting all that free money. Too bad there are only two choices in Canada so far. In the U.S. they can go out and collect pop cans or visit the dumpsters behind the grocery stores.
  12. I think Shady didn't mean that, he just wants to call it something that it isn't. It doesn't go unnoticed that it's just politically motivated. Which begs the question, what is it really that motivates Shady to support it?
  13. We'll see which party shows the most dissent against their leader's interests. I'll bet there are going to be some outspoken Conservative MP's who are going to try to turn Canada's moderate approach into the US dogmatic anti-abortion sideshow!
  14. I like how you call the young very foolish. Should people who are foolish in your opinion even be allowed to vote? Don't you just know that some of the Conservative MP's are going to keep this issue alive for Harper?
  15. Gee, maybe it has something to do with the people not wanting it because they see no gain in getting it? Maybe, much to the political right's chagrin, this environmental stuff is starting to resonate and they're making a connection to tar sands oil? Forget it and ship it to China, they won't mind.
  16. Hillary will only do what's politically correct for her interests. That's the way it works in that country now. If Obama's footdragging proves to be politically correct for his interests, and it appears that it is, then Hillary certainly won't talk positively about it during her campaign.
  17. And jobs won't come back either because it's systemic as opposed to cyclical. If the people just resign themselves to working for 'fast food restaurant' wages then employers can hire lots of people and solve a big part of the unemployment problem. Why, in the industrial sector they could have 4 working for $7.50 an hour in the place of one!
  18. "U.S. economy is doing well, Chase's CEO says". You'll have to google it because this site doesn't seem to allow a cut and paste. And maybe you could look at the Dow too. But you're right if you take a look at the plight of the people of that country. It's apparently become the second worse case of income inequality in the world, following Mexico. Turkey comes in third. Ya think that sounds right?
  19. Hey right on! JBG I knew it sounded familiar! If you want to talk about the Jews' apartheid wall then start a thread on it and I'll be there happily. And as with Kosovo that has now become the Clinton presidency's expansion plans, the Bush2 presidency expansion plans in Iraq has erased all the illusions that were attempted by the US sympathizers. The US has had a heyday since the fall of the Soviet Union and right up unitl now as the Russians are putting the brakes on again. So let's start by comparing the Crimean referendum and the democratic choice of the people. Bloodless I might add, to the US style of bringing it's 'democracy to Iraq! Something to do with WMD's wasn't it? Then we could go on to talk about the string of US wars since the world's loss of an equalizing nuclear force that kept things in moderation. The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming! Soon!
  20. In actual fact, the US economy is booming. It's just the people of the middle class and lower who are having problems. But if the Obama regime is replaced with a Republican regime then the economy will most certainly do even better. The key is in widening the record breaking income inequality they have established.
  21. There's a Conservative policy that 'will' work and that is to bring down the wages of workers so that two can be hired for the price of one. This is the general trend south of the border where there is great to do about the minimum wage hike that Obama is pushing. Harper is slow on the uptake with his attempts to do that with immigrant labour in the fast food chains. That's never going to work in time! He needs to get into the serious territory of tearing down good living wages in the industrial sector. One worker being replaced by two for the same cost. Think of the gains in productivity!
  22. Hundreds of Muslims every day immigrating to Canada? Have you done a count we can rely upon or is that just a comment you are making to show your disdain for the number of Muslims immigrating to Canada? Are more Muslims coming to Canada than what would please you? Compared to Buddhists? Do you have a number for Buddhists too? Not to suggest anything but I'm trying to determine some attitudes and attitudinal problems of this forum's posters for future reference.
  23. They have a gun problem that's completely out of control and the police are reacting to it with measures that protect themselves. However, understanding the root of the problem doesn't excuse the police their violence. We can have the same thing in Canada if we willingly follow the lead of Alberta and the Conservatives!
  24. Does the Berlin wall have anything more to do with the Ukraine than the Israeli apartheid wall does? It seems that US/Nato progress will be stalled if the people come out in force for a referendum and it shows that indeed the South and East Ukraine are similar to Crimea in their wishes to side with Russia.
  25. It's going to force some Conservatives to take a position and that is going to cause division within. Smart move by JT. But he's going to have to nip this anti pro-life label in the bud and make sure it's referred to as "pro-choice.
