  1. In the question of entitlement, what entitles things like Quebec using natural resources for electrical energy and the ROC not getting a break on electricity,or why the Feds aren't getting a tax grab from these resources. Or that Labrador got shafted in this deal and should be getting a better return on the water they supply for this electricity.Where is the entitlement for the ROC? How about the manufacturing sector in Ontario, the auto companies last year got $500 million of Fed/provincial monies to keep the auto companies from leaving. Even after the last negotiations with the CAW, Chysler said they expected to get new $$ from the Feds.Wages in the big three are around $35 an hour for production work. Why don't these workers save their own jobs? Why does the government have to bail them out all the time? Where is the entitlement there for the ROC? The grass is always greener on the other side and people must realize that what makes it green is more than hard work.
  2. ...And a tear in his eye like Paul Coffin.
  3. Immigrants are a great idea, but the problems that the Feds haven't addressed from past immigrants coming to Canada should to be corrected first.Problems such as: -Culture shock -Skilled people being brought here not getting employment because of language issues -Employment available for most being in the minimum wage area, -Affordable housing for new immigrants -Verification and acceptance of their credentials -Immigrants moving to large centers where they feel more comfortable -Schools in large centers being burdened with ESL -Extremely high drop out rate for high school aged immigrants The government will only compound these problem by over extending the number of immigrants into Canada.
  4. YOu were fortunate with your family crisis to have the immediate attention you needed. In my family it didn't occur, and in many other families the situation is the same. The shock of being told that you must wait three or more months(sometimes years) to receive attention is depressing for the family and especially to the one that requires the attention. The system at that point has failed the one who requires it. Who said the Conservatives are hell bent on destroying the system? When I need attention for health I need it NOW not sometime in the future.I really don't give a sh*t if the bill goes to private or Public. To me the issue is the health problem, and to get the health problem resolved as soon as possible.Who pays the bill and who gets the cheque is secondary.Too much politics and not enough health care for those that desperately need it seems to be the issue for too many healthy people. Ask those who are in pain and on long waiting lists about health care, not those like you or I ,who are healthy. What ever it takes to make the sick better is the answer, and if it involves private health care so be it.
  5. How come the panic only occurred in Southern Ontario and east? Everywhere else people seem to have a grip of the situation. Talk to your local retail gas station for the reason for this panic. The gas companies didn't authorize these stupid increase.
  6. Eureka, In the United Stated, you either have no waiting time or no health care. Our waiting time in Canada does need inprovement.Obvoiusly Eureka, you have never been involved in having pain and having to wait to get attention for your health problem.Canada's health care as it stands is for the healthy.
  7. FTA, My experience with Healthcare has been a little different. My mother was having problems with her health and as per the usual procedure, she was referred to a specialist. The next available appointment with the specialist was over three months down the road. The poor woman was in agony and three months seemed like an eternity. My father worked in the US (Detroit-Windsor daily commuter) and was thus able to take my mother to Henry Ford Hospital a few days later. She, like your grandfather, had bowel cancer. She had surgery the next day. Unfortunately, the cancer had metastasized and she died a year later. Having the surgery in a timely manner permitted her to attend my sister’s wedding and several other important family events. Her quality of life was much improved by having this immediate surgery. If she had had to wait for surgery in Canada, she would have not had it for over four months (three to get into the specialist and another month wait for the surgery). She would have been in unnecessary pain. There was a recent article in the Calgary Herald about people addicted to pain killers because of two year waits for knee replacement surgery. My point is that waiting times for health care are too long even though the care does not cost anything out of pocket for the recipient and the professionals providing it are generally superb.
  8. One has to remember that this $400 is not all of the surpluses and only a porttion of the total.Let's see what Ralph does with the rest of the money before making judgemnets. I'm sure Ralph would be happy for you to stick the $400 where ever it makes you happy. It's your $400 to do with as you please.
  9. Widening audit of tech fund fingers as many as 15 companies: Industry Canada Seems Emerson has already figued out what action to take......starting on April Fool's Day...probably sometime after the next election.
  10. Yaro seems to know what it takes to be a leader, I look forward to seeing his name on the next leadership list of whatever political party he represents. "It is wise to direct your anger towards problems -- not people; to focus your energies on answers -- not excuses." -William Arthur Ward
  11. Alberta surplus could reach $8.8b: Klein Looks like it isn't stopping here. "Mr. Klein said there is a "much better than 50 per cent" chance of the program continuing as long as the price of oil stays where it is: above $60 a barrel. That means the $400 tax-free cheques that will be sent to every man, woman and child in late December could keep coming for years." Ralph Klein and the Albertans -In Your Face ROC Tour heading east this November, should be a great show- get your tickets now! "The premier is planning a speaking trip across Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces in November to remind people of what Alberta already contributes to the rest of the country."
  12. No different than the Feds, everything in a big pot,and the amount each department gets, depends on how big of a bowl each department has.
  13. The same thing it takes for Albertans to be accepted by the ROC. Not necessary to swear an oath to Ralph, just swear at Martin and make a pilgrimage to your ballot box next election and vote him out. Simple as that.
  14. I guess now we can ask why $2.20 a litre in Toronto. People are panic buying everywhere in Canada. Prices have reached $2.20 in Toronto
  15. Connect the dots Sorry bad URL.Hope this works See if you can make a "connection"
  16. Let's play connect the dots Sure it's another Conservative site, but see if you see a "connection"
  17. Canada Steamship Lines Mr. Réal Lapierre (Lévis—Bellechasse, BQ): Mr. Speaker, while our shipbuilding industry is experiencing difficulties, Canada Steamship Lines, which belongs to the Prime Minister's family, has decided to have two new ships built in China. Despite Canada Steamship Lines' claims, the shipyard in Lévis is very capable of doing the job. Unfortunately, the lack of a marine policy undermines its competitiveness against aggressive competitors such as the Chinese shipyards. In any case, CSL did not invite that shipyard to tender. Canada Steamship Lines registers its branches in tax havens, to avoid paying taxes here. Its ships fly flags of convenience to circumvent environmental, labour and marine safety laws. Now it is abandoning our shipyards. Instead of implementing a marine policy worthy of the name, the Prime Minister is contributing to the decline of our shipyards. This speaks volumes about the true interests of the Prime Minister and his family. Martin gave a speech yesterday to senior civil servant workers in which he stated: "Canada will look very different. Fifteen years from now, China and India will have altered the face of global power politically and economically. The world will look very different." "We must make it our mission to keep Canada ahead of the curve, so that 15 years from now, even with an older population, even in a world in which much larger nations are competing for political and economic power, our standard of living will continue to be among the world's highest, our quality of life will be second to none, our country and our confidence will be strong," he said. One of his needs for action was; "We must encourage private sector investment and job growth in innovative sectors." It would have been nice if he started his encouragement with his own family and set the example close to home.
  18. Some more revelations on Jamieson from inside. Carol Jamieson aka Margaret Jamieson aka M Carol Jamieson aka Trojan Tory She wanted a lot of Conservative leaders out including Clark and Diefenbaker. Not much creditability here, but the media will play it up....as they always do.
  19. "plausible deniability," What ever happened to having meetings at the office?
  20. Canadian Foreign Aid to China is Being Handed Over to Brutal Mugabe Regime in Zimbabwe “Over the past decade, the Liberal government has given one billion dollars to China in foreign aid and will give another $50 million this year as the communists continue to prop up brutal dictators like Mugabe in Zimbabwe,” said Guergis. “Every dollar that Canada gives to China, no matter how well intended, is a dollar that the Chinese government can use to prop up other corrupt and abusive regimes like Zimbabwe.” I know,I know this a page from conservative propaganda. But there is a question in here about why Canada should be contributing aid to China, who is growing in leaps and bound in trade and I believe could easily do without our $50 million bucks. A bunch of money that could go to some African nation that could use it. Unlike the African nation of Zimbabwe that Chinese give aid to. Once again the Canadian media didn"t have the nuggets to ask the right questions. No one asked Martin about China's involvement with Mugabe in Zimbabwe, when Martin was speaking to the Chinese leader about human rights abuses. It was just the media giving Martin another photo op. So the question is why are we giving aid to China?
  21. A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. Government workers have in their offices, work stations.....
  22. Media reports today say, that Ralph said, every man, woman and child in Alberta will get $400 each,no provinical tax,but discussions are on with the Feds over their tax.
  23. Funny how the easterners are trying to ply at the oil $$ from Alberta and at the same time The CAW has settled with both Ford and Chrysler. Interesting note in this article on the negotiating. CAW to lose 1,000 jobs at DaimlerChrysler in Ontario "DaimlerChrysler has agreed to a $575 million investment in Windsor to build the next-generation minivan, but that deal relies on federal and provincial funding that has yet to be secured." Last round the Feds and Ontario gave the Auto companies over $500 million. It appears that the Auto companies expect (and will get) funding to keep these jobs in Ontario, as they usually do. Maybe the tax payers outside of these auto related areas should stick their hand out to the Feds or Ontario, to get cash for their communities.Money seems plentiful to give away to the auto companies, so there is really no need for a handout from Alberta.
  24. Is anything being done to compensate the other $1/2 million that is still owed, or the lost interest of the whole $1.5 million. why not like Radler was there not a fine involved? Canadian justice monopoly game card, Don't go to jail and collect $1/2 million dollars.
  25. "My point is that the Liberals are tired, out of ideas and the only thing they can do is (literally) put their head in the trough. They don't care anymore." With the Liberals at 40% at the polls,we'll show Martin by forcing the Liberals to govern this country wheither they want to or not. That will teach them to try and weasel out of their responsibilities. They can try to get out governing by scandals, poor accountability, waste and a bunch of other things, but hey, we'll make them govern forever if we have to.
