ERR I'll throw your quote right back to you and ask for the key facts on the other questions I have asked Eureka a number of times but he hasn't answered. Your heartfelt rendition of "The Wonderful Life of Bob" was ended by the very people that voted for him, when they voted him out. The Unions. There was so much hatred for the man, that unions turned their backs on him and the NDP because of his inability to manage the province. This was an era that showed the Unions what would happen if they got the government they wanted. They quickly decided it wasn't to their liking.

Eureka, You mentioned specifically "Manning" practices. What would they be? What about the social and economic damage done by Bob Rae's NDP government? Ontario voted them out in a hurray? Remember the NDP's social contracts? What about Peterson's Liberals, and the social and economic damage done by him,Ontario gave hin the boot too.

Federal Political Humour

A guy named Bob is travelling by Via Rail with two strangers sitting close to him. He is trying to sleep, but those guys were speaking loudly for a very long time heavily criticizing Paul Martin, the war in Iraq, corruption, unemployment, etc. So Bob, in an attempt to force the guys to stop talking and let him sleep, tells them as a joke, that there is a new total control system developed by the CSIS that spies upon all citizens, and there are lots of listening devices everywhere, so that anyone criticizing the government would be severely punished. This didn’t have any effect on those guys, moreover they just laughed at Bob, and carried on and on, saying even more rude jokes about Martin and the government. Finally, close to 3:00 am, Bob goes to the restroom, and runs into the train conductor. Bob asks the conductor to bring him some water and sleeping pills at exactly 3:00 a.m. He goes back to his place and says loudly into the base of his seat, so that talkative guys could hear him: "If the CSIS guy can hear me: could you please bring me a glass of water and some sleeping pills at 3:00 a.m., because there are some idiots here who are speaking too loudly about some political issues and won’t let me sleep." The guys continue talking. Exactly at 3:00 am, the door opens and the conductor comes out, and gives Bob the water and some sleeping pills. The guys are shocked and finally stop talking. Bob is happy and manages to fall asleep... When he wakes in the morning, the talkative guys are no where to be found. Out of curiosity he asks the conductor about them, (also remembering that there shouldn’t have been any stops at night). The conductor replies that some people in black suits stopped the train and arrested those guys. Bob is completely shocked and surprised and asks about why he was not arrested. The conductor answers that he doesn’t have a clue but one of the guys in black suits said that the director of the CSIS liked Bob’s joke about the water and pills... -

Where do you get this from? Teen smoking is hardly relevant to buying big ticket items. Has tobacco advertising made you smoke? If it has then you have to be pretty gulliable if you believe enough to buy an item just through advertising. I don't think you give people enough credit for making choices that they do. Because you don't like SUV doesn't mean you can impose your rationale to prevent others from wanting to buy them. The market will determine what will sell. The high cost of gas will change the market, just as the market changed the Van craze of the 70's. There is lots of competition, just look at your choices from all the car companies. Your few reasons are only your opinions.Foreign vehicles still sell well regardless of the import duty, people feel safer in SUV's,Higher sale prices?Yes, everybody wants to pay more for a SUV because it makes them a manly man. Give me a break, who wants to pay more for anything? They will learn, they will learn that other places are far cheaper to produce cars without the excesses that they have to pay in North America.Cars will go the route of cameras,tV's, stereos, and the latest is appliances that will soon be made in Mexico instead of the US or Canada. So will the unions learn, when more of these jobs are eliminated and lost to places that will produce them cheaper and better. Yes it is too bad that seven people who work in one small bank in a small town outside Sudbury who are happy with their working conditions and their employer now have to get involved in a union that they don't need or don't want. And you rant about equality for people. -
That's ONE province you mentioned a couple that are affected by Manning practices. What are the social and economic damage caused in Ontario by Manning practices? While your pondering that question. What was the economic or social damage caused by the NDP government of Bob Rae?Ontario voted him out for a reason. What are the social and economic damage caused by Peterson?Ontario voted him out too?

As I would hope any leader of any party would be. And what provinces would that be? And what economic and social damage is caused?

The Lively Seven fight the Steelworkers Union

ERR , The Big Three and foreign car companies sell cars of all kinds not just SUV's.Take a look at their vehicle lines.GM has Cavaliers,Chrysler has Neons,Ford has Focus.Take your pick. The people of Noth America WANT SUV's. They are the consumers and they are who decide what vehicle they want. The car companies do not force you to buy a SUV,that's your decision to purchase that type of vehicle. You should direct your disgust at your fellow Canadians and not the car companies. The big three is in business to SELL, I doubt very much if it matters to them if the consumer wants Econo boxes or SUV's,whatever sells they will make more of them. Car manufacturers, like any manufacturing business are competitive and will make a product they hope will sell. Why do you buy the goods that you do? No one is forcing you to buy that particular fridge or stove or TV. Toyota has SUV's,GM has SUV's,Honda has SUV's. The difference between these groups is the cost of Labour and benefits. Toyota is lower than the Big Three companies that have Unions, so they have an edge. They are not paying 4000 workers full wages to sit on the butts waiting for work. They don't have supplementary unemployment benefits that give them 90% of their take home pay when there is no work to do. Toyota workers don't want a union, they can work without a union, and do it very well. The same way the Lively Seven would also like to work without a union, because they don't need one. -
iss Trudeau, Please expand on your statement..about THAT school.

Spar, Totally in agreement with you on this one. Seems the agenda that the Liberals have, doesn't exist. They are only trying to keep their heads above water and nothing else. No vision,no plan, nothing to give Canadians a directive to the future. Some R&R might remove some of the arrogance they have been displaying and put them back on the ground with the rest of us.It may give them the realization that they are not guaranteed the right to govern and that they must earn our vote. At the same time the Conservatives if elected, would have to show us they will correct the failures of the Liberals. Not doing so, would be giving up the one chance they have to prove they have the ability to make government more accountable to Canadians. I think for this next election the voter could be best served by giving the Liberals a time out and the Conservatives one chance to prove themselves. -
Well said Tawasakm, a unfortunate incident to have occurred to you. This of course means I will have to withdraw your name from the nomination of ambassador to Uranus. We will have wait for a more suitable candidate. -CES

The return of Svend Robinson

So Eureka, what is this illness that causes you to go into denial? -
Thanks Err,but this doesn't seem to be "official". The "notes"come from the heart of Conservative country(University of Alberta). I was hoping you would be able to get something closer to the NDP web site. Of course anything that I don't understand on the "official" platform that you will post,I'm sure you would be more than happy to explain to me,right? Seeing as Jack doesn't answer questions about NDP positions sent to him by e-mail. NDP platform notes from U of A

Good post FTA...I totally agree. Once I was a Liberal voter, yes I voted for that bunch. I feel the same about voting out the Liberals because of the corruption ect. ect. I will vote for the Conservatives and if they DON"T improve the way the government is run I will vote them out the next time round. I will give them a chance, the Liberals had a 14 year "chance" the least I can do is give the Conservatives 4 years to tell me different. Why keep voting for the Liberals, throw them out, give them a break and wake them up to the reality that they don't deserve to be running the government at this time with the attitude they have. Let's see what the Conservatives will accomplish in government and if it works for Canadians we'll vote them back in,if not ,out they go. We have to vote brutal, think of what is best for Canadians, not the governing party. This is not your favourite hockey team. These people run our lives, they have to learn that we are in charge. -
