I don't know how easy obtaining either citizenship, language training or a law license would be. I was struggling with the language in my last visits, to Calgary, Algonquin Park, and Montreal. jbg, If Chretien can do legal work on a napkin and be a millionaire licensed lawyer, and if Martin can pratice law and buy ships with no money down, and become a millionaire licensed lawyer, and if lawyers can run the country into massive debt and still be millionaire licensed lawyers like Trudeau, or be like Mulroney and be a millionaire licensed lawyer who can wheel and deal with the best of them, then I would say if you want your millionaire license to practice law in this great land......Come on Down...er UP. Besides, with you being a bankrupcy lawyer, your political career may be just waiting for you. Coming to Canada,it's as easy as getting on a boat, drift into any Canadian harbour and declaring refugee status.Worked for thousands over the years. Three years later your a citizen.....woo-hoo. As for language....well, this is a bilingual country.......how's your Mandarin?

Ah, but it isn't. Have you ever questioned why it's not unanimous? Wouldn't your common sense wonder why it isn't? Have you even read what the arguements from leading scientists are from making it unanimous? What are your arguements against those scientists who question this report? With all the pollution you're talking about why wouldn't you support a Clean Air Act to get things moving?

Tories to Run Negative TV Ad Campaign
Canuck E Stan replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This is the problem with people who believe everything they read or hear. Argue about something that may not have happened? I haven't seen the ads on TV,you haven't seen them on TV, so were they on TV? Has the population of Canada seen these TV ads or not? Simply question. -
Tories to Run Negative TV Ad Campaign
Canuck E Stan replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
When did you see the ads on TV? Did they actually run the ads? I haven't read where they have or when. Lot of talk about where they going to show them, but did they? I've seen it on the 'net, but that's it. -
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. When it comes to politicians and governments, If you can't have the one you love, Hope you can love the one you have.

Why were the facts in the pro-man report not spelled out as the scientists wanted? Why is the main stream media only one sided on the report, and not getting opinions from scientists on both sides?

If you think that any measures to improve air quality will not reduce GHGs, then you are a loony. If you think that we have to shut down the oil sands to reduce GHGs, then you are twice as loony. All scary scenarios put forth by right-wingers that if we waste less energy, we'll end up poor and unemployed is complete pile of bullshit. Cutting the energy waste may have a negative impact on energy producers (if they are stupid enough to not go into other types of energy production) but everyone else will gain considerably. Now cut the crap and the fearmongerring because we're tired of it. Those that imply that an urgency to reduce GHGs in Canada is going to do something extraordinary to solve the global problem of GHGs is stupid thinking. Our solution is less than 2% of the problem. There is no reason to get stupid with our time frame and then expect to sit back and think the problem will disappear from our borders. It is the other 98% where the urgency should be applied. How long will it take for the rest of the world to solve their portion of the 98% GHGs problem? It won't be in your life time, or your grand-children's. Let's take one step at a time, starting with the opposition getting the Clean Air Bill moving in the House.

Excellent point, I think more countries would be on side if it was strickly about GHG emissions and nothing else. Kyoto should die and in it's place a true environmental treaty excluding all of the non environmental aspects of Kyoto like credits, ect.,are removed. Make it about the environment and solutions that solve only the environment problems. More people will accept then the environment issue.

http://inhofe.senate.gov/floorspeeches.htm As it turns out, Kyoto's objective has nothing to do with saving the globe. In fact it is purely political. A case in point: French President Jacques Chirac said during a speech at The Hague in November of 2000 that Kyoto represents "the first component of an authentic global governance." So, I wonder: are the French going to be dictating U.S. policy? Margot Wallstrom, the EU's Environment Commissioner, takes a slightly different view, but one that's instructive about the real motives of Kyoto proponents. She asserted that Kyoto is about "the economy, about leveling the playing field for big businesses worldwide." How can those who are so concerned with the environment, not see that Kyoto does so little for the actual solution to remedy problems in the environment?

New article about the Canadian Wheat Board
Canuck E Stan replied to Luc Trudel's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
jbg, There's not a "grain" of truth to it. It's all corny. It barley makes sense. -
He was secretly moved out of Germany at a young age in a German U-Boat and given the Chretien family. At least that's what I heard from two or three folk on the know. The reason he was moved out of Germany was because there were German sympathysers on Das Boat. He was really a German jew. And it wasn't German that he spoke, it was really Yiddish. Listen carefully when he speaks, you can hear the "oye" in his words.

Is Global Warming a Leftist Urban Legend?
Canuck E Stan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And the magic answer comes from whom? The NDP? the Greens? or the Commies? And what is their magic solution, other than a lot of words. -
Wouldn't surprise me. It was well known that his French was much better in private. Not to mention his uncanny ability to write legal documents on napkins.

Tories to Run Negative TV Ad Campaign
Canuck E Stan replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If it wasn't aired, what a great coup by the CPC to get the news media to run the ads "freebie" and get all the publicity to boot. Not to mention the money is still in the bank. Watch for even more effective ads in the election by the conservatives. -

Is Global Warming a Leftist Urban Legend?
Canuck E Stan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nothing has been changed. The term climate change has been around as long as global warming has. Climate change is a resuly of Global warming. Why do right wingers hate the enviroment so much and why are they so eager to leave mess for future generations to try and fix and pay for? Why do LEFT wingers hate the enviroment so much and why are they so eager to leave mess for future generations to try and fix and pay for that when they had the opportunity, they did't get it done -

$3.4 billion for Four Big Airplanes
Canuck E Stan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
They won't have the planes on time. B.C. is on a two week earthquake warning right now. http://www.canada.com/topics/news/national...47867f4&k=54205 This one coming up is only the electorate getting little ansy about what's happening to Lotusland with the weather and wanting the government to fix the problem right now. It's affecting their ability to get to Starbucks for their morning coffee.
