  1. The need to save SNC, the entity, is obvious. But the leaders of SNC must be accountable for what they did. We do not need to save leaders of SNC, just the entity. But what Trudeau did is just plain stupid. He wanted to travesty the justice in order to save not only save SNC, but its leaders as well. He did not have the intelligence to make and assume a political choice that would do the right thing. He rather attacked the justice. It is more than wrong. IMO this is criminal.

  2. Harper used to take 5 questions a day which infuriated the media seeping into every day's coverage. The travelling press gallery was incensed and never got over it. OK then…. Is skipping debates. No scrutiny at all… Over the last 5 days the media has cared more what a CPC candidate said to his friend when he was a teenager and who another was friends with in 2013. Let that sink in. 1) Hide and take no questions from reporters 2) throw shyte balls from the weeds hoping they will stick (they are) 3) let the media attack Scheer 4) Nanos polls will be gospel 5) debate only when the shills run the debate. The election cycle is going exactly according the Trudeau PMO plans.

  3. The real issue with this hasn’t to do with whether or not SNC Lavalin is guilty at all, but Mr. Trudeau.

  5. I don't understand why but the Vancouver Sun is the only mainstream newspaper in Canada which ever has stories which run against the pro-immigration narrative in the rest of the media. This one basically says that diversity is bad, and the more homogeneous a society, the better off it is. I can see progressives going ballistic at the mere thought someone might hold such an opinion. But it fits in with other studies I've seen about how people trust and want to be around those pretty much like themselves. Many western nations assumed that increasing ethnic and cultural diversity through immigration would be beneficial. The dogma of diversity, tolerance and inclusion assumed that all members of the society wanted to be included as equal citizens. Yet, instead of diversity being a blessing, many found that they’ve ended up with a lot of arrogant people living in their countries with no intention of letting go of their previous cultures, animosities, preferences, and pretensions. ... In fact, social trust corresponds more closely than any other factor to predicting economic prosperity. Harvard economists Alberto Alesina and co-authors from a paper titled, Fractionalization, argued that greater diversity leads to stunted economic growth. In other words, diversity is a weakness as far as the economy is concerned. In 1981 The World Values Survey began an investigation into cross-cultural beliefs, values and motivations, and has since shown that societies with high social trust are not only more economically productive but also happier. The most successful are homogeneous countries, not the diverse ones. http://archive.is/ulGJ4

  6. Even the Liberals on this forum know how retarded this liberal government is , but some how they are silent.....because they embarrassed … but ask them who they are going to vote for...and you'll hear a murmur LIBERALS.... Liberals are buying this election.....12.8 BIL in new spending promises...in AUG alone....Balanced budgets my ass... Any one but the liberals....this has got to stop.... Overall, for the month of August, the Liberals made 4,545 new spending commitments worth a combined $12.8 billion. That compares to the Conservative record of 604 new spending commitments worth a combined $1.4 billion in the month prior to the August 2, 2015 election call. https://globalnews.ca/news/5847862/conservatives-liberals-broke-rules-summer-spending/

  7. Why do you characterize disagreeing with you about the threat Islam presentd as "don't want it talked about"? I am allowed to think you are misinformed without being accused of wanting to shut you up. I'm even allowed to think you are wrong, crazy, fearful or dishonest without being accused of wanting to shut you up. Well, from my side there are a lot more good ones out there than Islamophobes want to admit - but you don't want us to talk about that, do you.

  8. And I see Islam as being a threat to women and gays and Jews, because that is what is happening and not just in Muslim countries. You may not want that talked about, but some of us think that is pretty important. When France is saying it's difficult for Jewish kids to even get an education, when Muslims are violently attacking free speech in nearly every country, when women are still walking around in burqas and young girls in hijabs, when the most popular tshirt for Muslims is a shirt that says "2030 - then we take over" and making comments like the one in the above article "You'll see - in a few years Allah will be in power", when almost 80% of UK Muslims want Sharia law instead of democracy.......Sorry, but "They don't really mean that" and "Not ALL of them want that" coming from you, isn't very reassuring. Yes, Dia - we all "get" that not ALL Muslims are the same. But there are far more bad ones out there than apologists like to admit.

  9. Oh please. You've fallen for a sales gambit. Trump has no balls. He's been a coward his whole life. Look at how fast he retreated from his "I don't care what the NRA thinks" as soon as they express disapproval. Trump is desperate for praise and cheers. He will say whatever he thinks brings that. The instant those cheers halt he reverses himself. He caved on the wall, and then when some of the conservative media pundits started criticizing him he immediately reversed himself. He doesn't care what LIBERALS get offended, because he knows he will never get cheers or votes from them anyway, but he cares deeply what his base thinks.

  10. You’re speculating that Harper, and I assume that meant Scheer the second time, would have pushed the snc scandal through the DPA route and you’re wrong in doing so. Harper actually created the law banning companies facing criminal charges from bidding on federal contracts for ten years. There was no DPA law at the time. Trudeau created that so that SNC could circumvent Harper’s law. Harper wouldn’t likely create a law just to weasel around it himself two years later. Conservatives aren’t “pretending” this is important. The real issue that’s at stake here is that our PM was acting like judge and jury here. You have to have a warm spot in your heart for dictatorships if you think that it’s ok for the PM himself (without even having a law degree) to have total oversight over the judicial processes of the country. I don’t care how slimesters in foreign countries operate. I’m not interested in helping them ensure that shithole countries never develop. That’s a Liberal policy. Canadian companies should never act like this: “SNC and its subsidiaries SNC-Lavalin Construction Inc. and SNC-Lavalin International Inc. are also alleged to have defrauded various Libyan public agencies of approximately $129.8 million.” They got caught and it’s up to actual crown prosecutors and judges to study the pertinent laws and legal precedents and to ensure that the correct penalties are meted out to the appropriate parties. It’s not something that just comes off of PM Selfie’s cuff. He doesn’t own the country.

  11. Don't mistake Trump for being the least bit brave. He's not. He's always been a coward and remains one. He only says and does things which he thinks appeals to his base. He's always been a salesman - and a dishonest one, according to those who worked with him. He'll say whatever he thinks the customer wants to make a sale. In this case the customer is the Republican voter. You are correct about the cowardice of most politicians, however, including all the ones here with the possible exception of Bernier.

  12. Scotland has proposed a law to prevent FGM, but Muslims are upset because apparently a law to protect women from genital mutilation is racially motivated because it excludes intimate piercings and cosmetic surgery. Really… getting your ears pierced is hardly akin to FGM, but hey – who knew. Proposals to seize passports and detain anyone suspected of the practice have angered Africans and Muslims in Scotland who fear that they are being racially profiled. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/new-law-on-fgm-is-racially-motivated-holyrood-told-9vlsdf0lc

  14. The percentage of the people in Québec that will votes for Trudeau, will determine the percentage of shame I feel on my nation-state. Well, except for the Anglos' votes. Anglos in Québec always vote at 95% for the Liberals no matter what. Andrew Scheer has different values and interests than me. On many subjects, he is the opposite of what I cheer for. But he is not doing it against me. He is rather server the interests of other people thinking like him. I see him as a respectful opponent on which I just desagree. Trudeau is rather a real ennemi. A vicious traitor compulsory liar without moral and scruples. He is bad for all canadians and is capable of the worst to serve its own personal interests. He disgusts me more that I thought it would be possible even if my imagination is quiet fertile. Lucky for me, I can vote for the Bloc. But Trudeau is so bad for Canada, that I would be ok for a conservative majority government for the next 4 years. Just to make it clear for the liberals that Trudeau is not acceptable under any circumstances. Yesterday Jagmeet surpised me. He said he is ready to open the constitution to allow québec to get back in. Just like Layton few years ago. I wonder if this promise will work out as well this time. Jagmeet Sign has positionned himself against Québec on the bill 21. For sure he will be questionned about that. What kind of credibility his assertion on the constitution can be if on such subjects, he wants to fight against Québec. I am heating the pop corn.

  16. Scheer took his five kids to some campaign bbq. "Scheer was to have had a low-key campaign day Saturday, glad-handing in McCaffrey's riding and bringing his five children along for the first time on his tour." But you didn't.

  17. No you manifested the theory, a rather simplistic one that avoids any Iranian being responsible for their own decisions or fate. You depict Iranians as idiots, puppets who are manipulated by outsiders. This is a reflection of your concept of your fellow Iranians to justify your own fundamental Islamic religious views that they need to be led by a Muslim religious clergy council. Yah you bet I have read your past posts supporting the current Iranian regime and Iranian terrorist activities in other countries. Save the pseuto left wing 1970's university theory as your cloak of righteousness. Your sermon is laughable. Yah the Shah was a puppet. How long will you use that as a pretense to justify the current regime and extremist fundamentalist Shiia Islam that kills and tortures your own citizens for questioning it and keeps it locked in the stone age. Who sold all your oil at below market prices to China? Trump was the issue not Iran. In that regard anything now is better than Obama appeasing Iran's fascist clergy council which makes the Shah look like a cuddly teddy bear. Savak, Mukbharat, religious police, what has changed since your divine ones took over?

  20. Large groups of culturally homogeneous people, by definition called "nations" (like Quebec, a "nation within a nation"), naturally yearn for self-determination. They have their owns wants and desires, and to live how they want to live and enjoy and maintain their culture without government interference. When 2 or more large groups of cultures live within the same country and one of those cultures feels they lack this self-determination and feel they are being controlled by another powerful group, this group becomes disenfranchised and this often causes political/social conflict within countries and has caused many civil wars or threats of wars or separation, here are only some examples: - Quebec vs rest of Canada, aboriginals vs rest of Canada, Scottish and Irish vs Britain, the Balkans, Israelis vs Palestinians, Hindu Indians vs Muslim Pakistanis vs Muslim Bangladeshi's vs Sikh Punjabi's, Tutsis vs Hutus in Rwanda, Shia vs Sunni Muslims across the ME, US north vs US south (in 1800's), the Nazi holocaust, Muslim minorities in China, war in Darfur in Sudan, Coptic Christians in Egypt, Christians vs Muslims in Lebanon etc. People wanting to change our entire international system of sovereign nation-states, and have well-meaning but naive utopian dreams of a borderless world fail to understand these cultural power dynamics. Sovereignty and national self-determination is the entire legal basis of the international system of nation-states that was created with the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648, it's the fundamental basis for our international system. So much so that it's enshrined in the UN Charter. All countries are nation-states. Trudeau thinks Canada is first "post-national state", and is somehow be immune to internal cultural conflict (Quebec & aboriginals & Western alienation says otherwise). He dreams of a world & a country where all diverse peoples can get along and live peacefully with one another. It's an honourable dream, but given history and the different conflicts around the world & in Canada it is naive to think this way. That's why the integration of different cultures and migrants within Canada must be done VERY carefully, which it's not. A post-national state is a road straight towards the gathering of competing sub-national political groups (like Quebec), very dangerous for social cohesion. We all need to feel like we are all "Canadian", we all need to feel like we're part of the same "in-group" even if we have some differences, and we all need self-determination.
