  1. Past hour
  2. After signing out (above), this was the first headline I saw... Trump is now zooming in and out on his favourite weasel without any need to adjust for elevation or windage: Trump to hit Canadian copper with drastic 50% tariff, clobbering massive export market Trump told reporters at a cabinet meeting that 'today we’re doing copper'
  3. It was all for show, deliberate, premeditated, focus group approved hypocrisy. Saying that anyone could have used it (meaning a deliberate and premeditated lie) sounds like you endorse the practice in principle or at least accept it as a worthwhile SOP when adopted by your party of choice. Personally, I find it unseemly across the board regardless of political persuasion and can well imagine the roasting PP would have gotten if he walked the same path. Simply put, they talked tough publicly then quietly caved on first contact, not because of unanticipated situational changes that required a new approach, but because they cynically planned to do it all along. I think the gym goers in elbows up t-shirts saw that for what it was and that's why there hasn't been a single sighting in weeks.... they're embarrassed to wear them. Regardless of political differences in the gym, these folks are disciplined, committed, they walk the walk and expect the same of others... liberal stock prices plummeted somewhere between the treadmill and squat rack. Sadly, it was the election itself which provided the incentive, when Trump's tariff threats became a hot sovereignty and economy issue they deliberately fanned the flames of patriotism whilst knowing full well they had no intention of walking the walk. I work outside with the radio on pretty much all the time, the elbows up ads, buy Canadian and support local merchant ads all evaporated with the same POOF sound the t-shirts did... and it took the brief flare of patriotism (which actually warmed my heart) with it. All we got back was a return to the Herb like polarization and nastiness I've long hoped we could shake off. So ya, total hypocrisy (pretending to be tough when you are not, and pretending to believe what you clearly do not), It's the very definition of hypocrisy, made worse by premeditated execution and media compliance. Then again, that's just me and a handful of gym rats, I'm not even suggesting that full on retaliation was the best policy, I just don't like being lied to with the malice of forethought... I bet he even asked Trump's permission to proceed with this election strategy, a sign of weakness Trump immediately recognized as valuable to his own agenda, an easily manipulated weasel that leaped into the reticle of its own accord. Is it any wonder Trump is a fan?
  4. Today
  5. Really? Why? Edit: looks like it was 5 of them who just showed up without warning or making arrangements and demanded a tour. I'm not sure that's how a jail works I think you have to at least call ahead and make arrangements.
  6. Only an lDIOT believes that businesses fail in America due to "communism." Business FAILURES are a FACT of LIFE in CAPITALISM. AKA, making room for new businesses that BETTER meet consumers needs. Duh
  7. Did someone FORCE you to sign up for that duty? Or did you just imagine it was the best opportunity that YOU HAD? Personally I never bought the idea that we needed to invade Afghanistan to make OBL pay for 9/11. If we should have invaded any country, it was Saudi Arabia, since that was where the perpetrators and their funding was from. I think it was very unfortunate that you were conned into invading the wrong country.
  8. CLEARLY DOGE CUTS PLAYED A ROLE in HUNDREDS of DEATHS in TEXAS FLOODS and yes Trump was RESPONSIBLE for DOGE firings because Musk had NO AUTHORITY without Trump's ORDERS. 9. Why is acknowledging what happened equal shame and guilt? Why do you think acknowledging Canada was settled by Europeans, reflecting on it and embracing facts of what happened to indigenous people is an exercise in shame and guilt? You prefer it gets ignored? Or denied that it happened? I don’t think you actually know what they believe.
  10. Or they could buy a noaa radio and be warned: https://a.co/d/hQ9Ai5s
  11. What % of their post was celebratory and what % is communicating shame and guilt? Canada Day isn't about bowing our heads in shame, it's a day to celebrate. The school board is asking its community (students, parents, and teachers) to bow their reads. Teaching students that they need to bow their heads in shame/guilt on Canada Day, calling them "settlers", telling them to "reflect" and "embrace hard truths" is teaching them what exactly? That Canada is a great country worthy of celebration? Now go ask a bunch of college student if they think Canada is a great country or an illegitimate colonial project residing on stolen land filled with a history of genocide, and then ask yourself why they believe what they believe.
  12. Meeeh...no they cant. They got denied a few days ago.
  13. No we don't!! We live in a world where just about everything in the universe is Captured on a cell phone or there's a camera of some sort or it's inspected or body cam or whatever. In fact we live in an age where it's extremely rare where we have to rely on an eye witness The democrats could go tour the facility if they were really concerned about it
  14. That's not true. The only way we hit 2% next year is rolling things like the two billion dollar existing budget for the coast guard into the military. And what carney has promised is 3.5% military spending and .1.5% infrastructure, which is still to be defined, And that's just a promise. We haven't seen any indication of a plan or budget as to how that's going to work. The liberals have promised targets for Kyoto and never come close, they promised targets at paris and never came close. They're doing the same thing now
  15. We live in a world where often all we have to go by is eye witness accounts. There are many things that Trump is doing that should raise questions about who you can believe. You have to decide yourself. If you think the idea of sending migrants to CECOT was right then you have a moral problem and may not be able to judge anything.
  16. This didn’t age well. Canada will be at 2% next year and is targeting 5% in the future. @Army Guy, Why isn’t Carney your hero?
  17. Only a leftist would promote the idea the confidence is not a factor and voting shouldn't be allowed we should just tell people that they're running
  18. Well I think you're both kind of missing a point, if all we're talking about is the tariffs then yes it's a tax and yes people will pay more or businesses will make less which means that businesses won't be excited about starting businesses. It would be bad. But the premise is that this will force or promote development of Businesses in America to service that market. Americans will theoretically build more cars, make more products, cut more wood and mine more copper. Investment in American Business will actually go up because it's cheaper to build in America and so in America than import. This is the theory. If the theory pans out then the additional revenue to the government of a revitalized and turbocharged economy would be extremely significant and may help substantially reduce the deficit instead of raising taxes to do so If it doesn't, then this is actually going to hurt the economy and be an anchor on it so it will underperform compared to how it would have. We won't know the answer for that for a little while. It certainly won't make things that much better overnight. But by the third or fourth quarter we should start getting some idea of how things are: And how business is feeling about its future, and by the end of 2026 the picture should be relatively clear. Either it will be working or it won't But it's way too soon to say that he doesn't have a plan or that this is somehow harmful to Americans until we see the final results
  19. It means they're in the country illegally. And that does warrant detention. The woman they did the story on for example is one of those 50 was thrown out of the country and snuck back in. I don't think she's committed any crimes other than that but that's enough. If you don't have a right to be in the country leave. And now would be the time. If you try and hide and stay in the country you may be arrested and detained. Because that's what happens with criminals who violate united states immigration law I'm sorry but if you break the law you don't have a lot of room to complain about being locked up. I would agree with you that they should be deported as quickly as possible and not stay in any kind of camp longer than necessary, there's no need to be cruel about it, but if you don't want to go to jail then leave the country and don't do the crime What else is there to say?
  20. Which I don't. I simply ask a question, if he's so terrible that nobody would vote for and so reprehensible that he couldn't possibly win an election, how did he manage to get almost 42% of the vote? And that seems to send you into a tailspin for some reason. You're getting almost as worked up as poor X flyer, and his mother has had to change his diapies several times already. He didn't win, but as far as losses go it wasn't much of a loss. He held the liberals to a minority and he did very well increasing seat count and popular vote. So it was hardly a disaster. But the funny thing is you cannot answer a simple question, if he's so disliked and terrible why did so much of the vote? It isn't true no, Trudeau was gone. It wasn't some sort of flash in the pan he's been pulling around those numbers for over a year. So how is that possible? Unless you're wrong and I think that's what's got your panties in a knot
  21. “Years of discussion” and concern about taxes. No flood warning apparatus. Now dozens of kids are dead. well, at least taxes are low in Texas, eh? https://abcnews.go.com/US/hard-hit-texas-county-flood-warning-sirens-despite/story?id=123531823
  22. That's not complicated. Carney lied and pretended he was Poilievre and ran on his platform and people like you who have the intellectual capacity of a goat who's mother huffed gasoline while pregnant were fooled long enough to buy it The problem for him is those chickens are going to come home to roost. He's already struggling to deliver on his prophecy and it looks like it's going to get worse. He promised free trade amongst the provinces by July 1st and that failed to happen entirely. He had to walk it back to getting rid of a couple minor laws that aren't going to make any difference. He's worried could handle trump and that's going badly to say the least. Other well-known liberals are calling him a boot licker. And that's a former minister of trade and international relations, someone who kind of knows what he's talking about Is pipeline thing is probably going to go sideways pretty quickly as well. And with trump actually beating on us the economy is going to go into the tank. Unemployment will creep up, wages will stay repressed, people still won't be able to afford food and lodging properly, they're going to get a look at his budget and it's going to be absolutely horrific Pretty quick they'll realize he can talk like Poilievre but he can't actually deliver. And then he'll be just like Justin
  23. Well yeah. The CBC doesn’t do that nearly as much. But mainstream media is owned by very rich right wingers. So to say that they are an example of the “left wing media” overstating climate change is weird.
  24. Slightly. But like i said, extremely creepy I'm not sure they're talking to you counts as human interaction. And yes, I have lots of people I talk to, The actual amount of time it takes to post here is almost zero, I use voice dictation and frequently I'm busy writing something else while I'm talking to you, or I'm doing it on my cell phone or the like I do enjoy this place, I get to meet Some of the weirdest lefty nut bars and some nice people too so I either get to laugh my ass off or have interesting discussions. Watch TV. I don't. Are you about done fishing for information about my life? I'm a little concerned about how you'll use the knowledge considering you're already having weird fantasies In any case it certainly better than being a drug addled loser
  25. Here is a great American and someone that should be a national hero along with every single Coast Guard member that was there.
  26. What is your point? They broke the law. Yes it does. It absolutely warrants that.
