planetx Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 in general, i believe that this small group of men who took control of the most powerful country on earth have failed in their grand plan. a plan to change the u.s. government in a way that provided them with no restrictions on their actions and to create a virtual hegemony towards the 'new american empire'. i suspect that a number of factors have brought these men down including a lack if success in iraq and the fact that liberty is ingrained too deeply in american life and values. essentially, these men have been overpowered by democracy because they were unable to control it to the degree necessary. these men have been overpowered by freedom of speach because they were unable to control it to the degree necessary. ideally, these men would have liked to push the u.s. to dictatorship. but americans have had too much liberty for this to ever come to fruition despite any kind of exterior threat that can be created or imagined. the tactics used to exert control for the 'new american empire' are simple and found throughout history. but the united stated of the 21st century is not germany of the 1930's or some frail african democracy or anything of that nature. bush_cheney2004 Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Oh well...I guess the Old American Empire will just have to do. As we all know, the world just loved the American hegemon of the 19th and 20th centuries. LOL! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Topaz Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I have heard that the group of people who control the US are the Wall Street companies like the Carlyle Group, which is a private investment group, that go and buy up companies ALL around the world and holds 67% of companies in North America. They are in to all business ventures you can think of. Former US Treasurer Snow is also into one of these group and just bought out Chrysler. When we see companies leaving North America for Mexico or Third World countries, you can bet, the company is owned by one of these groups, that only care about the $$$. investor in Carlyle Group, now makes 1 Bil. yearly from their investments. Now this may help to know why Bush wants to stay in Iraq or any war because these groups have investment in military equipment, supplies and hardware. They are also into the aerospace, like I said they are everywhere! Quote
Drea Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Who do I think would be a better replacement for the US Hedgemony? How about a coalition of countries from around the world? Not the UN, a revamped UN perhaps. See I am fair. Quote ...jealous much? Booga Booga! Hee Hee Hee

Drea Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 When there is a balance of power, war is less likely. When one can run roughshod over the rest - we have a problem. The problem of this one superpower imposing their economic/military will over others for no good reason. Let's be realistic here. What would be better -- a number of countries voting on an issue or one country dictating an issue? Quote ...jealous much? Booga Booga! Hee Hee Hee

What would be better -- a number of countries voting on an issue or one country dictating an issue? How simplistic. What do you think the world is...one country one vote? Is that what you see as fair? Christ, Israel would be in the sea fer shur, and the west would be raped, bludgeoned and left to expire. Yeah, that sounds real fair. And we see how well countries "voting on an issue" works in Rwanda and darfur, don't we? Balance of power politics produced WWs I and II, the Cold War and any number of proxy wars to make up for the big one being avoided. So far the unipolar world has produced...well...not really very much in the way of major war... Quote

By all accounts, the USA is the most benevolent super power the world has even known. Waah. Cry me a river. I am not the only person on earth that realizes that the USA's hedgemony is quickly coming to an end. I am not the only person on earth who is "anti-American foreign policy" either. Views on US drop sharply Nearly three-quarters of those polled in 25 countries disapprove of U.S. policies toward Iraq, and more than two-thirds said the U.S. military presence in the Middle East does more harm than good. Nearly half of those polled in Europe, Africa, Asia, South America and the Middle East said the United States is now playing a mainly negative role in the world Edited July 12, 2007 by Drea Quote ...jealous much?
