keep an eye on this storm, could be a bad one in terms of loss of life and property destruction, due to the close proximity of many villages to the waters' edge. 1st time in recorded history. Heading straight for Iran.

I guess they can learn to farm the desert with all that rain. Or is farming beneath them?

You have an A/C unit in your residence? These "evil Muslims" are so arrogant that 99% of em' will NOT have an A/C unit in their huts. Also, they think farming is the work of satan....."Or is farming bneath them?"....oh brother....sarcasm all around.

Like Afghanistan, Iran is mostly mountains.

Probably the only reason the country hasn't been invaded yet.

Iran has been invaded repeatedly over the centuries and as recently as the second world war, Iran was occupied by Britain and Russia

You're correct. My mistake. I meant they haven't been invaded in the war on "terra."

I remember reading an article about the war-game simulations that the US has conducted, and the mountains are the primary reason it'd make an invasion impossible. That's why tactical strikes are the only option if there is to be war.

Iran is a plain on its eastern side facing afgahanistan. More to the point, iran isn't worth invading. Bombing into the 20th century would be preferable.

You say isn't worth, I say that war-game simulations say it's impossible. Whatever floats your boat.

It comes down to - it's not a desert as jbg said and it's not going to get invaded.

No, I said that the Arabs would never use desert for productive purposes. They do just fine using it as a killing field (link) (excerpts below):

THE STRUGGLE FOR IRAQ: VIOLENCE; SUICIDE BOMBER IGNITES TANKER, KILLING 59 IRAQIS

By KIRK SEMPLE; QAIS MIZHER CONTRIBUTED REPORTING FOR THIS ARTICLE, AND AN IRAQI EMPLOYEE OF THE NEW YORK TIMES CONTRIBUTED REPORTING FROM MOSUL, AND NAZILA FATHI FROM TEHRAN.

A suicide bomber wrapped in explosives detonated himself next to a gasoline tanker south of Baghdad on Saturday night, creating a devastating fireball that killed at least 59 and wounded 86 , an Iraqi police official said.

The bombing, one the most deadly suicide attacks since the American invasion of Iraq, appeared to target a nearby Shiite mosque and a crowded open-air market and came as the streets teemed with cars, pedestrians, shoppers and worshipers enjoying the relative cool of the evening.

The bombing, in Musayyib, about 40 miles south of the capital, was the latest in an unrelenting string of dramatic suicide bombings that have killed scores of people and severely challenged the American command, which only a month ago claimed that military offensives had sharply undermined the ability of the insurgents to launch attacks and cut the number of suicide bombings in half.

Horse shit.

Also, I love the way you always lump all Arabs together - oh and just a reminder Iranians are not Arabs - they are Persians.

BTW - what about the Marsh Arabs? What about the early use of Hydroponics in Iraq? Predates even your precious little state of Israel!

"Although there has been a lot of recent interest in hydroponics this method of growing dates back to 600 BC wuth the Hanging Gardens of Babylon located in what is now southern Iraq. King Nebuchadrezzar The Second built a series of hanging and terraced gardens to cosole his wife and remind her of her undulating and lush homeland.

The king built a series of terraces which were roofed with stone on which was laid various materials in layers. Reeds, bitumen and lead were used so that inorganic water could seep through the terraces. Water was pumped to the gardens from the River Euphrates."

So, again you are full of absolute bigotted horse hooey!!

Does it not occur to you that people are simply just people? How can you hold a whole group responsible for the actions of their so-called leaders? Especially if that country happens not to be a representative democracy. In my view, it's pretty much only in democracies where one can hold 'part' of the population responsible. In dictatorships the people have no voice.

But nevermind - as I am sure any kind of reason or logic will simply fly over your head as you are blinded by your own hatred of Muslims and Arabs.

Does it not seem strange that there is flooding and loss of life everywhere in the world. Normaly the flooding would happen in one country or continent wouldn't it. What are you people trying to say?

Doesn't this sound very much like the late 1930's when people tried to ignore Hitler, you of all people should be aware of the similarity of the world situation.

Oh darn. I recall a conversation I had with an Iranian about a couple of years ago in a convenience store. He was gleeful about the storm disasters the US was having....saying like, "see? they are are being punished because they are evil!"

I wonder what he's saying now?

Mother Nature can be a real bitch LOL

But we love her anyway -- 'specially when she makes the sun shine. I, actually, am personally responsible for the sun coming up today (the clouds were not my idea tho) as I prayed to my atheist-mothernature shrine last night -- and thank goodness I did or else the sun would still be asleep -- whew!

...jealous much?

Comparing a cyclone (mother nature, not preventable) to Hitler in WWII (could have been prevented, but most of Europe gave into Hitler's demands to 'reunify' some countries back into Germany. Some countries that were never part of Germany. Even after Hitler took parts of Belguim, the former Checz Republic, and stormed Poland, Europe did little until it was too late and there was an all out brawl in Europe).

I hope there was a point in your post. And mind for that matter.
