3 Palestinians Found With Over 1000 Cell Phones in US

And then again, they may be exactly what they say, a couple kids hawking cellphones.

I have met a few guys here in Canada doing something similar with stereo speakers.

Gotta admit, cellphones are a lot smaller, and so you could pack a bigger profit margin into a van.

It doesn't make sense that they would be trying to resell cell phones anyone can buy at Walmart; why would anyone pay more for a cell phone on the blackmarket.

Maybe there were not actually been planning an attack themselves, and if not, then they could have been supplying other terrorists with them.

Here's an update. It sounds like there was a plot to blow up the Mackinac bridge in Detroit. They say they were just buying to resell, but at 1000 phones, they spent over 20,000 when you include state tax. An enterprise that small wouldn't be able to let their product monopolize their revenue like that. Also, there is no way three guys can sell over 1000 phones in a reasonable business cycle.

One report I read says they were collecting the phones for a higher up who paid them. Cell phones are ideal for remote detonation.

I'm surprised this story is not getting bigger coverage.

Terror allegations not looking good

Meanwhile, Michigan officials kept three Texans locked up even after Michigan state police and FBI officials said they were apparently wide-eyed tourists rather than would-be terrorists when they photographed the Mackinac Bridge.

The men -- brothers Adham Othman, 21, of Dallas and Louai Othman, 23, of Mesquite, and their cousin Awad Muhareb, 18, of Mesquite -- were stopped by police Friday outside a Wal-Mart store in Caro with about 1,000 cellphones in their van.

Local prosecutors charged them with collecting or providing materials for terrorist acts and surveillance of a vulnerable target for terrorist purposes.

The FBI questioned them for several hours after their arrest, then released a statement saying that "there is no imminent threat" to the bridge, which links Michigan's Upper and Lower peninsulas.

State Police Director Col. Peter Munoz said Monday that the men "may have been involved in some other fraudulent activities, but there is no nexus to terrorism or a terrorist threat."
