August1991 Posted Monday at 04:16 AM Report Posted Monday at 04:16 AM Diefenbaker did it in 1957. Mulroney did it in 1984. Harper did it in 2008. ==== In the past, at some point, the federal Liberals become obviously corrupt. Nowadays, in 2026, I'm not sure. Quote

Nowadays, in 2026, I'm not sure. Unfortunately corruption creeps into every government over time. Lobbyists, friends, so much money involved. And then they get voted out, seems like every decade or so. In 7 or eight years from now, when the Cons have a decent leader, they may oust the liberals. Quote
herbie Posted Monday at 07:33 PM Report Posted Monday at 07:33 PM (edited) And WTF has any of it got to do with corruption? Or are you saying electing Dief, Mulroney and Harper was the corruption? You just constantly post word-memes trying to use two different things and imply some sort of obscure connection between them. Edited Monday at 07:34 PM by herbie Quote
I am Groot Posted Tuesday at 08:35 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 08:35 PM I think Canadians are growing inured to government corruption. Bev Oda was tossed from office for a $16 orange juice but Carney spends a fortune on food and nobody cares. Hundreds of millions are dispersed every year from the taxpayers to an army of NGOs that are the backbone of the Liberals' election runs. Every leftist social, ethnic, racial, gender, religious, cultural, climate, and poverty lobby and activist group in Canada is funded by the federal government now so that they will lobby those they represent to vote Liberal in every election and present a supporting case for every government policy pronouncement. No one seems to notice or care. We recently tossed out a bunch of ventilators we paid a brand new company owned by a Liberal MP hundreds of millions for during COVID because they're crap, not even worth being given away. No one cares. Where did the money in the Green slush fund go to? Nobody knows or cares. Why do Canadians need to be concerned about corruption? I thought Stephan Harper fixed all that by making the government accountable and transparent to everyone. herbie Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago So damn transparent no one can come up with an actual example. So they just imply things they don't like are corruption. Quote

It was Trudeau who was going to give us the most open and transparent government ever. Instead, he gave us the most secretive government in history. These liberal voters are blind and mentally challenged. I don't hold out much hope that things will improve. They have stacked the system to stay in power. Edited 3 hours ago by blackbird Quote

Sure, and Trudeau was also supposed to wrap up climate change for us. But it still begs the question what could Trudeau possibly have done to improve on Harper's transparency legislation? By rights it should have been enough to bring criminal charges against JT for interfering with justice. All I remember though is crickets followed with braggadocio about how effective Harper's transparency legislation was from our usual forum cockalorums.
