And how can 66% of conservatives be a separatist now?  If they're paying taxes or receiving social program benefits they're certainly not separatists.

Perhaps ask the Bloc?

Which 'polls' do both of those numbers come from?

'Somewhat support' probably means they'd like to send Ottawa a message, but likely wouldn't when they thought through the implications.

It's going nowhere except to let the complainers have their voice.

Alberta alone could support more social spending, per capita, than Canada can, and Alberta already has its own pension plan.

I saw a poll (3,000 ppl) that said 66% of conservative voters are separatists now.

  • Poll Findings: A May 2026 "Act for Alberta" poll showed that 51% of federal Conservative supporters in Alberta "strongly support" independence, with another 15% saying they "somewhat support" it.

Note that's "federal" conservatives, not just Alberta conservatives.

I'm not sure what to make of "somewhat support", but the number of separatists is always growing.

So, no polls huh...  Just do the Fxx and Goddess thing by pulling it out of your àss and running with it.  You go girl 👍

See it’s not just the Albertan that will be affected. All of Canada would quickly dissolve as a coherent nation should Alberta leave. Access to eastern Canada would cease for BC, and Ontario would become destitute having to pay for Quebec all on its own. It’s no longer a matter of if but when your doom will be decided Canucks. America will be patiently awaiting your return to the fold. Best you learn to speak American!

It is severely unlikely that Alberta would actually leave per se. What would happen is they would be able to negotiate a species of sovereignty association where they have a considerably larger amount of autonomy within Canada. This has been talked about at length when Quebec was thinking about leaving. There's really no provision in the constitution that allows for a province to actually leave and that presents problems

That isn't to say that other provinces may not demand the same sort of autonomy if it's granted to alberta and we may see a radical change in Canada that severely de-emphasizes federation and moves closer to something like the European Union where each province basically makes its own rules but there's certain common trading agreements etc

So where are these 'polls'?

Just listened to Jason Kenney on Power & Politics who in a nutshell thinks this separatist movement is a joke that will go absolutely nowhere, and ultimately benefit the liberals by costing Alberta conservative MP's seats because of the 'perennially angry fools'.  His take is that most Albertan's are strongly Canadian, albeit with valid complaints for the previous government, and see's this as hurting both the federal conservatives and the Alberta UCP.   That's a shame...

This has turned into a real joke that won't be so funny for some when the dust settles...  That's why clowns don't run the circus.

  • The name of it is in the post. Just do a Google search ffs, m0r0n.
  • You probably put too much stock in polls. I think they're about as honest as politicians. And it's doubtful if elections are even legit.
  • Jason Kenney is an a-hole.

Right now I do agree with Kenney, in that, right now there's a real risk that the separatists will split to conservative vote, which would be a catastrophe. Alberta can't afford... and Canada can't afford, another NDP gov't in Alberta.

This country is fubar.

Even our membership in the League of Shithole Nations is at risk. Haiti, NoKo and Iran are questioning if we still meet the minimum requirements.

We might get bumped down to the League of Pathetic Shithole Nations, with Gaza, Pakistan, and England.

I put too much stock into polls, when you reference two polls.  Gotcha....

He very well may be an a-hole?, but he's spot on with what this separatist movement is doing and will do to the Conservative Party...federal and provincial.

Take polls to be +/-10% on a good day. And when you know who's conducting them, you know whether they're gonna be a + or a -.
