An ICE agent who was part of the federal immigration surge in Minnesota earlier this year was charged with felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, a Minnesota prosecutor announced Thursday. The agent, Gregory Donnell Morgan Jr., is accused of pointing a gun at the heads of two civilians in a vehicle, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said.

This is the first case of an ICE agent facing charges related to the Trump administration’s Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota, which drew national outrage after the fatal shootings of two U.S. citizens by federal immigration authorities.

 

Morgan was charged Thursday with two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, one count for each victim, and there is a warrant out for his arrest, Moriarty said.

The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the charges.

On Feb. 5, Morgan was driving an SUV with no markings when he pulled up next to another vehicle and “pointed his duty weapon directly at both victims while continuing to drive illegally on the shoulder” of a highway, she said. The driver then called 911.

"The 35-year-old was on duty and driving a rented, unmarked SUV on the hard shoulder of a highway in the city on 5 February when a car moved into the same lane to try to slow Morgan's vehicle down.

The driver of the other vehicle didn't know he was an officer, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said on Thursday.

After the other car returned to the legal lane, she said, Morgan pulled up alongside and pointed his service weapon at the two people in the vehicle.

The car's driver told investigators they feared it was a "crazy person driving down the road aiming guns at people".

According to the warrant, Morgan then merged his SUV back into traffic ahead of the alleged victims, who took photos of the SUV's licence plate on their phones.

Morgan and his partner, who was not charged, told investigators they were returning to their base at the end of their shift."

The agents left the scene of a deportation. 

The "victims" (probably protesters that were harassing the agents) followed and tried to impede them. 

The ICE agents passed them, using the shoulder and flashed their gun, maybe even pointing it at them.

The investigation into the shooting of Goode has been ………………. Complicated??  The sole criminal investigation is currently in the hands of Minnesota county officials. However, they are facing significant hurdles due to lack of cooperation from federal authorities. There will be NO federal investigation into her death – so, only one investigative path  remains open. An autopsy revealed that Goode sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

She was the mother of a 6 y/o

We have enough facts we can see with our own two eyes to make the factual statements I did.

1. Irrelevant. Also, minutes before, she had her vehicle parked much farther out in the middle of the road. That is obstruction. It is illegal. This is the game "protestors" play where they obstruct, then run, then obstruct, then run... to delay ICE from enforcing the law. 

2. So what? It is not lawful to "protest" by blocking the road, interfering and obstructing Federal LEO from doing their job, and then fleeing and evading arrest. 

3. There is nothing funny with accelerating a vehicle towards someone. That is deadly force. 

4. She was killed because she obstructed, resisted, ran from arrest, and in doing so threatened deadly force against an Officer. 

It is on video that he was in fact hit.
