If it weren't for the curling this would have been a complete team blowout basically. Very shameful performance. They didn't let anybody down and there was nothing shameful about any athlete's performance. For once in your Phucking life think before you speak, you twisted loser! Oh yeah, I forgot. You hate Canada. 1 Quote

If the USA outshot Canada 42-28 and won 5-2 you could say that they were on pace to steal our cultural identity, but this is no different from when Hasek beat Canada twenty-some years ago. Their goalie stole this win for them. FYI giving up 42 SOG in one hockey game is really bad. Before the US got their 4-min PP at the end of the 3rd Canada had twice as many shots on net as the US did. If the US world juniors teams beat Canada's best WJ teams then you could say they were catching up, but the last time the US won the WJC it was because the US had all of their best players, while Conor Bedard, Macklin Celebrini and Zack Benson were already full-time NHLers at 18 years old. Bedard and Celebrini had 130 points in the NHL that season. FYI that's high production for 27 year olds, and there still isn't a full-time NHLer from that US WJC team two years later. The last time team Canada had all of their eligible players at the WJC was during the lockout in 2005, when Canada outscored their opposition 33-6 and won every game. The US went 3-4 that year, and was outscored 28-27 in that tournament. The Russian team that beat the US 7-2 in the semi-final lost 6-1 to Canada in the final. That's what team domination looks like. The US just squeaked out an underdog win today because of a hot goalie. Did Argentina steal America's cultural identity in 2004 when they won the gold in basketball? I'll admit that the US is good at hockey, but they're still just whiny sore-losers who can occasionally pull off an upset. Not to mention the Canadian captain was out with an injury. 1 Quote

You are an absolute fool, and that's being generous. I am sure the vast majority of Canadian's are very proud of the athletes but you're anti-Canadian so wouldn't expect anything less from you than to anything and everything Canada. Quote

Canadaisintrouble Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 I don't think Canada will remain a hockey power 20 years from now. Hockey is too expensive for a majority of Canadian kids to play. Can blame this on the Liberals also! 1 2 Quote

Huh??? You are right...it was before the "pros" were legally allowed and an American college and junior players beat the USSR Army. It was a miracle.....46 years ago LOL and as i said...yesterday's gone. Quote You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to tell me what mine should be.

Or he/ she can go to college which seems to be an avenue. Hockey will go on but...Canada will not reign supreme anymore. 1 Quote You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to tell me what mine should be.

Nationalist Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 (edited) Ok...level set. The Canadian hockey teams both played great. IMO...nobody should be too dejected. I thought the refereeing was a tad...lop-sided. But that mens' final was a fantastic hockey game. Hellabuck "stood on his head" as they say. He has a habit of coming up big...and he did in the gold meddle game. He's an awesome goalie...usually. So congratulations to the Yankees. Your team and goalkeeper fended off an onslaught and got the one goal that counted...the last one. Edited February 23 by Nationalist 1 Quote Its so lonely in m'saddle since m'horse died.

John Stone Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 Hockey will likely always be more of a National sport in Canada than it ever could be in the U.S. Likely has something to do with the Canuck winter, 9 months of winter and 3 months of poor skating. Ditto curling and ................................................ curling, etc. 1 Quote
