That may be happening as those mortgages that people took out during the COVID bidding wars are up for renewal. Far too many people way over bid for houses and the price has declined about now they are stuck with the over priced house and the mortgage. I lived in Alberta when there was price wars and then the crash . We bough t a house that was foreclosed upon and it was $40K less then the original owner paid for it. Unfortunately, we also suffered the years of 15%+ mortgage rates. Quote You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to tell me what mine should be.

The Liberals skyrocketed demand through immigration, and the number of bids on houses skyrocketed. Then the Liberals started to give first home buyers extra money to bid. Which sent prices up even higher. Then Trudeau proclaimed that debt isn't a big deal because interest rates are at an all time low. It's been a giant mess. Quote

Immigration was not yet a thing. Over bidding and price wars are an individual thing...not governmental. Jumping on a band wagon is an individual thing...not governmental. Trudeau never promised anything...every person making purchases and not lookign ahead is at fault.. The First-Time Home Buyer Incentive (FTHBI) came into effect on on September 2, 2019, before COVID pandemic happened. And it only lowered the down payment and allowed RRSP withdrawals. Point is, not all, and probably not many, over bidders were first time buyers. Quote You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to tell me what mine should be.

We have a food bank we do donate to fairly regularly. As for eait times...my forever GP, a hot surfer chick I might add, scheduled a test two weeks ago, found reason to schedule a closer look with a specialist a week later and the appointment for that is 2 weeks from now. I also arrived for a echocardiogram at another clinic recently, 10 minutes early as requested, and I was out 20 minutes later. But on top of that the cost of living has shot up, often also with additional costs based on new gov't regulation which we're still seeing being added even this year in bc for example. And it's gotten worse and worse and worse in the liberals just refuse to deal with it even though justin Trudeau ran on getting house prices under control in 2015 as one of his platforms An immigration increased the day he took over and has been growing substantially ever since. In fact one report showed that since 2016 we've been building 100,000 homes fewer than we need to give it our level of immigration, and that's every year since 2016. And that report came out 3 years ago or so. As you can see from this chart immigration spikes sharply as soon as the liberals took over and was already growing at an unsustainable rate 1 Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Cost of living has gone up every year for many many decades. Have no idea what you're are talking about in BC. Some people, and I did not refer to all people, should not have gotten into the bidding wars frenzy and over bid for the house. Where I am, , it was in the news, where folks were bidding $200K + over asking price at the time. Well, 5 years later...the time is up to re mortgage and the house is worth less than they bid for it. I suspect that if they were thinking, they thought the prices would substantially increase and, well, they were wrong and now they are in a dilemma. As I said in another post, I lived this when we lived in Alberta. So many homes were foreclosed as the owners just walked away. They even passed a law in Alberta to prevent "carpetbaggers" from cashing in. Quote You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to tell me what mine should be.

And that's dumb But it is the situation a lot of people find themselves in. Quote Nowhere that I have lived have I ever heard or has deferred property taxes till after death been discussed. You might have if you really actually owned a home. Here's the BC one, although as I said it just changed Property tax deferment program - Province of British Columbia In places where the property values are soaring what was happening is older people who had bought their homes when property values were more reasonable we're suddenly discovering that their property was shooting up insanely in price. Property taxes are a percentage of the value of your home, so all of a sudden these people were owing $5 and $10,000 a year in property taxes that they couldn't afford. So the government agreed to allow them to defer it and when the home was sold either on their death or when they were moving to a retirement home the government would collect the money then. Basically you paid very little interest Quote You can stop being an ass anytime. You want to discuss like a grown up, then behave like one. You don't get to say that to anyone Mr ass porn.
