Queenmandy85 Posted January 30 Report Posted January 30 93 years ago today, Jan. 30, 1933. It was the first broadcast of the Lone Ranger on radio. A firey horse with the speed of light, a loud of dust and a hearty "Hi Oh Silver." The Lone Ranger. With his faithful Indian companion, Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led the fight for law and order in the early western United States. No where in the pages of history can one find a greater champion of justice. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. From out of the past come the thundering hoofbeats of the great horse Silver. The Lone Ranger rides again. Quote A Conservative stands for God, King and Country

Queenmandy85 Posted January 30 Author Report Posted January 30 I listened every Tuesday and Thursday in the 1950's. I am convinced radio programs enhanced my generation's imaginations. Roy Rogers, Harbor Patrol, Wayne and Schuster, I was a Communist for the FBI and Gunsmoke. Quote A Conservative stands for God, King and Country

Well... not exactly the same Stuart McLean was a story teller and it was a kind of variety programme... Anybody want a taste of what we're really talking about - radio plays.... This is a sci-fi program called X-1 that I loved when I was young.... X - 1 The horn blast at the end of the theme would fill me with fear. Listen to this with nothing else playing in the room... get a drink of some kind and listen to it... It's hokey but America at its best 1 Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! herbie Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 Growing up in Vancouver the Jack Cullen on CKNW would sometimes play those old radio shows on late nights, I remember listening to who knew the evil in the hearts of men on the portable radio in our cabin on Syemour Mtn, We'd also tune down the FM scale and pick up the audio from Channel 6 TV in Victoria.
