Fair point, but I think many of the first nations would argue that that isn't in 'canada' :)

Probably right ...maybe we should remove everything "Canada" has given them....considering they never paid for or had any of it taxed.

Oh Jeez this shit again...

perhaps if you provide them with water, sewer, police and fire protection and actual fee simple ownership of each house and lot there'd be grounds for taxation, but there isn't so give it up.
You don't own a house on the rez, the Band lets you live in it, and boots you if you're not in good standing.

They are provided with water And sewer and also take advantage of medical services, education opportunities, the legal system, and a number of other things that are funded by taxpayers. They have a right to vote so they can't call it taxation without representation.

But I appreciate your ongoing dedication to never miss an opportunity to say something stupid ;)

Have you not heard a news program in the last 15 years? Or do you want to insist all MSM is utter lies?
LIke here they DO share those services and in return provide money and services in return, like the sewage plant on their land, a private/catholic/band school on their land, as is the big Church, a grocery store and THE gas station, And half the volunteers for fire, search and rescue etc.
A rez 60km away has their own water, sewer, school, medical and partial cop shop.

As a Chief once said to me: If you could have all these 'freebee services' would you live HERE? Not f*cking likely.

I realize that thinking and communicating aren't your specialties but calm down and try and use your words

The money that pays for those things is taxes. If they're paying taxes then great. But you suggested that they don't receive anything that they should be paying taxes for. You've literally just agreed that you were wrong but you are somehow trying to say that even though you were wrong you were also right at the same moment. Nice trick

Both which service them. Sorry just doesn't count

Are any of them religious? Do any of them eat food? Use gas?

Well there you go

Yeah sorry but everybody else does all of those things as well, and they pay tax. All you've done is proven that the first nations aren't paying enough tax for what they get

Sounds like they're getting a hell of a lot for a group of people that don't pay taxes. Maybe that should change they need to pay for what they get

Well first off they're not chained there and like anybody if you're living somewhere that you don't like you can move. They're absolutely no different than anyone else in that respect

But more importantly if a bunch of regular Canadians lived somewhere and they found it wasn't to their liking for services they would get together raise money in taxes and build something better.

So obviously the first nations need to pay more taxes and get what they want instead of complaining about paying for nothing and getting it

It amazes me how the 1980s concept that taxes must be IN YOUR FACE like the GST must now be replaced by hidden taxes and fees tp accomplish the same thing is now the objective of the same conservatives.

When I was a kid the PST was referred to as the Medical Services Tax so you knew what it was intended to cover. Today the Transit Tax still refers to what it covers.
Property tax covers municipal expenses, leave it at that. There is no more acceptable method to cover that purpose.

TBH if I have to pay a tax I would prefer it to be built into the bill. One thing that really annoys me - asking how much a car or other major item costs and getting a price without all the taxes added. That’s not the amount I would have to pay so it’s not the question I asked.

OMG a straightforward clear plain comment rather than blathering about in circles trying to make a Gordian knot of gibberish into a counter argument.

How refreshing!

Which is more than we can say for yours :)

How typical
