Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree wrote letters urging Canadian officials to approve the immigration application of a man they had determined was a member of a terrorist organization.

The letters, dated 2023 and 2016, were written on Anandasangaree’s House of Commons letterhead and sent to the Canada Border Services Agency on behalf of an alleged member of Sri Lanka’s Tamil Tigers who wanted to move to Toronto.

Although Canadian immigration officials had repeatedly rejected Senthuran Selvakumaran as an immigrant due to what they described as his “protracted involvement” in the Tigers, Anandasangaree asked them to reverse their decision.

Our minister for public safety is a terrorist supporter.

This "new" gov't is doing great so far.

Not a lot needs to be said about this. It's obvious what's going on. We invited in those who would work to make our nation another culture.

Somewhat like silent colonialism.

Well the optics sure ain't good. The Tamil Tigers are long gone, though, and will probably be dropped from the terrorist list. But if anyone is known to have committed terrorist acts against civilians, as opposed to 'Freedom Fighters' fighting oppressive regimes, they should definitely not be allowed in.

And Anandasangaree should have known better and should have his knuckles rapped on this one, even though it looks like a guy just wanting to reunite with his Canadian wife and kid.

The day will come when there is a backlash. We're already seeing it in Quebec of course

A politician interfered with our national security apparatuses analysis of a person as being a threat.

This goes beyond optics and once again carney is like that's fine no problem.

If a conservative meets with one far right politician from Europe that certainly isn't on any terror watch list the media rails about it and how terrible they are for a week or two. But this is just no big deal right?

This isn't about optics. It was a terrible thing for him to do and allowing terrorists into our country is not okay. I don't know why you feel the need to excuse it. This guy should be kicked from his position and put on the back benches at very least but the liberals feel they can do any level of depravity or crime and their supporters will still back them

It seems kind of racist for you to complain about letting Tamil terrorists in when we let in members of Hamas, Hezbollah, islamic state, Khalistani terrorists, the DNC, etc.

If the Cultist Narrative Network/Cultist Broadcasting Corporation gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed.

Using an excavator to dredge up any dirt possible. Total desperation.

I know math is really really hard for you but 2023 was actually only two years ago

I mean come on, you didn't even have to take your mittens off for that
