robosmith Posted yesterday at 12:21 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:21 AM Quote BREAKING: A bombshell memo leaks revealing that MAGA Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has directed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to draw up plans to abolish itself and create a smaller, weaker version of the crucial agency. And it gets so much worse... Bloomberg News obtained a copy of the memo which Noem ordered be drawn up. It's worth noting that only Congress has the power to abolish the federal agency, but the MAGA administration isn't exactly known for its respect for the Constitution. Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to eliminate FEMA but has provided little details about his plans to do so. The newly obtained memo is bluntly titled "Abolishing FEMA" and comes at at time when natural disasters are multiplying and worsening due to climate change. In the coming decades, the entire Gulf Coast is going to be battered by one hurricane after another and wildfires are expected to ravage numerous states. The document outlines FEMA functions that "should be drastically reformed, transferred to another agency, or abolished in their entirety" with some aimed for deletion as early as the end of the year. One of the more horrifying cuts includes gutting long-term housing assistance for disaster survivors. In many cases these people have lost everything and have nowhere to go. If Trump and Noem get their way, these people will end up homeless and hungry. Another proposed elimination would mean ending enrollment in National Flood Insurance Program which currently has 4 million enrollees. More broadly, Republicans want to provide less aid targeted at fewer disasters. All of the money saved can then be funneled into more tax cuts for billionaires and corporations, the only thing that MAGA truly cares about. "This just means you should not expect to see FEMA on the ground unless it’s 9/11, Katrina, Superstorm Sandy,” said Carrie Speranza, President of the US council of the International Association of Emergency Managers. She previously worked as an advisor at FEMA. The memo suggests numerous ways in which responsibility for disasters can be shunted off onto already-overburdened state governments. Taken in tandem with Trump's efforts to eliminate the Department of Education, this is a recipe for national collapse. There is no world in which states will be able to perform their current duties, find new funding for disaster relief, and educate all of the students left out in the cold by this administration. Many of the worst suggestions laid out in this memo also appeared in the Project 2025 blueprint, which Trump falsely claimed to be ignorant of during his 2024 campaign. In truth, it turned out to be the blueprint for his entire fascist regime. President Biden's FEMA Chief of Staff Michael Coen said that the suggested changes to FEMA will "leave a lot of communities behind. "If you live in a community in Vermont that is affected by a flood, that’s a significant event for you, but it might not be a significant event for national security,” he said. There is no way to sugarcoat this. Donald Trump is destroying the United States in such a way that it might never recover. This is what MAGA voted for. This is what Republicans stand for. 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 Quote

Nationalist Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago FEMA has a spotty record. It appears it's been infected with TDS. A reformation could rectify this and makes disaster response much more effective. 1 Quote Its so lonely in m'saddle since m'horse died.
