I doubt Alberta will make it past voters the constitution and the SCC.

I doubt it would matter. This was mentioned earlier, United nations has always recognized the rights of groups of people to secede from their countries of origin if it's clear that that's what the people want. And what exactly is ottawa going to do, launch an actual civil war? He would have pockets of Alberta resistance fighters running through every inch of Ontario causing havoc and Mayhem that would make the métis rebellion look like a barroom brawl.

Don't kid yourself. Alberta wants to go it's going to go. And once that happens there will be a chain of events that will likely result in at least three of the western provinces leaving Canada. That's just the way it is

So if we don't want to see Canada broken up then canada has to start taking Alberta seriously rather than it's bastard child that it can b*tch slap whenever it needs money

And why would they all suddenly love Canada? Didn't they all just accuse Canadians of committing genocide against them a few months ago?

Some did. I also said they'd be showing solidarity with First Nations from Alberta. I doubt it'll be out of love for Canada.

It'll take decades.

It's like getting their oil to market, by the time they do few really need or even want it.

It won't even take a year. We can drag it out a little bit longer if they want to or if they want to talk some sort of sovereignty association like quebec has discussed but but honestly that's about it if they just decide to go. Read a little history. And i don't mean ancient history either.

I don't live in Alberta. But if it's any consolation if albertans Saskatchewan go I'm pretty sure BC will as well. It would be hard to put that Genie back in the bottle

We should probably start thinking ahead.  What do you think about "we're not going to take it" for the national anthem?
