Canada will be at 2% next year and is targeting 5% in the future. @Army Guy, Why isn’t Carney your hero? It has been decades upon decades since we last hit 2 % of GDP, and lets be frank some creative accounting, sliding in more departments expenditures into Military budgets, and with the latest news, the Military is expected to cut back 7.5 % this year and 10 % next year and 15 % in 2028, ..that 9.3 bil in new investment is looking smaller and smaller every day...So for the military to get ahead it's budget needs to grow by more than 10 % each of those years...Thats alot of new investment... I've already said that i think Carney is on the right track with spending not only with the military, but the entire security apparatus....but there is a long way to go...SO Carney is doing a fair job so far, while not my hero, he is on the right track in regards to our security apparatus... It looks like the Liberals are trying to find the funding for these increases in military spending...not sure where they are going to cut, but i do remember Carney using those scare tactics in his campaign saying PP will cut, cut, cut social programs , civil service etc...and yet here we are today, looking at cuts....and to be honest i agree with these cuts...and if it happens to be invested in the military then great...but i don't think the left voters are going to like it to much... Defence expected to find operational savings even as its budget balloons Quote We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.
