Maybe ten years ago this would be very hard. With the tech they have now, there can be meaningful analysis that leads to targeted cuts. Make no mistake, some of the cuts will go too far. Yup, and a higher share of her income goes to taxes than Buffet's And the kid at Wendy's pays a bigger share than both her and Buffet's. In 2023 the US government spent $18,406 per person. Maybe to make it fair for everyone and instead of taxes the government should just send every American a bill for their share regardless of what they make. Basically follows until the blue line just about shoots off the chart. According to you the rates should have kept pace throughout the pandemic. Meaning the distance between the lines should have been the same. If we'd followed the US rate Canada would have had around 150000 deaths instead of just 35500 or so. You've welcome. That's right, I've always said it was only about taxes ever since you raised the subject, Who are you talking to? People with 400 billion do pay taxes. Perhaps things are different there in Canada, like, do you guy only tax kids at Wendys? See? Taxes you said not wages. So presumably I struck a nerve when I wrote No it's the same in Canada. The kids working at Wendy's pay a higher tax rate and a far bigger share of their income than Wendy's owners.Like Warren Buffett and his secretary. 31 minutes ago, User said: No, she doesn't pay twice as much as billionaires do. There are clearly two ways at looking at this, the amount in dollars and cents a person pays as opposed to a share of their income...profits...gains...whatever. As I said billions are spent on accountants, lawyers and lobbyists quibbling over this with the result being the kid at Wendy's paying the most and Warren Buffet never having had it better. There is a staggering difference, for example, in how many more Americans have died because of Covid compared to Canadians, both in absolute numbers and as the ratio of deaths per million inhabitants. So what is going on, and why might Canada's experience be different to that of the US so far?
