For those of you that are for Carbon taxes there is good news, Mark Carney has got the answer to your prays a new liberal carbon tax, not like the old one which YOU the tax payer pays...this time he thinks your nor smart enough to notice that his new plan is same as the OLD plan only those time he is going to tax the manufacturers, he is admits that they are not going to pass this new tax on to consumers , because they never do that...

He is also going to tax imports from countries that don't have a carbon tax, which is about 70 nations or so....this would include yes the US...as if we were not done with tariffs, now we going to prolong this tariff war and bring in 70 other nations making goods more expensive for me and you....

I'm glad the new liberal god has Canadians in mind when he makes up this stuff...For a banker who is to be all that and a cup of soup, he must know what is good or bad for the economy....he was after all the chief banker for Canada, and the UK...but their record is not that good is it...I thought most Canadians thought that carbon taxes where bad to expensive, or are we not smart enough to see that this is the same thing...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

A headline from the Epoch Times today :  BC Firm Drops Decade-Old Refinery Project for Alberta Oil Exports

"

A British Columbia company has cancelled plans to build an oil refinery on the province’s north coast that would have processed northern Alberta oil for export to Asian markets.

Announced in 2014, the Pacific Future Energy refinery project was billed as the “world’s greenest refinery,” with a commitment to operate as a near-net-zero carbon emission refinery and reduce spill risks by shipping refined products instead of heavy oil.
The project, which would have refined roughly 200,000 barrels of bitumen per day, had been undergoing environmental assessment since 2016. But in an email in December, Pacific Future Energy’s chief executive officer Samer Salameh notified the government that the company would not proceed with the project.
“We hereby terminate our application,” Salameh wrote in a Dec. 3, 2024, email, without providing a reason for the decision.

Federal Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault, in a Feb. 11 letter to Salameh, responded that the company’s environmental assessment had been terminated."

From the article...

Advocates say that carbon tariffs like this are used to “punish countries that are free-riding on the need to fight climate change.” This means that countries should use economic force to make other countries impose their own carbon taxes and other environmental regulations.

Leaving you the consumer free to buy products from other countries and companies willing to take their responsibilities with regards to AGW as seriously.

I agree this will be worse than the existing carbon tax because the government can treat low income people the same as wealthy people. They certainly won't bother to notice...notwithstanding the penny-pinching coupon-clipping  conservative ones that ordinary lower income conservatives are always feeling sorry for.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Whereas the Tory Climate Plan would cost nothing and harm everyone.

Head still in the sand i see, please explain to me how we as a nation are going to be able to compete with the US if we have carbon taxes, and they don't...Buy Canadian wont mean shit when the price of good and supplies are way cheaper in the US...

Carbon taxes are not the only way to fight climate change, but all those methods are not liberal talking points. there fore not viable options.

Who says you have to compete with Satan? Or even should?

If they continue to be a backwards arsehole oligarchy we sure as hell don't want to compete for that title.
If you think totally deregulating to strip mine our natural resources as fast as possible benefits you then vote for PP and continue in the economic fail we've complained about for generations.

Maybe he should tax imports from deadbeat countries that don't meet their Nato comitments. Errrr, wait a second...
