herbie Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Ontario premier says he’s ‘ripping up’ $100 million contract with Musk’s Starlink https://www.cnbc.com/2025/02/03/ontario-cancels-starlink-contract-in-latest-canadian-tariffs-protest.html Take a play from Trump's own fraudulent dealings and rips up a contract he agreed to. F*ck Elon, put a 25% tariff on Starlink equipment and subscriptions and dedicate those funds to expanding fibre service in Canada. 1 Quote

User Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 So... now you cheer on your government targeting a private business for retribution, reneging on a contract with them... because f&ck Musk? This has nothing to do with principled tit-for-tat retaliation to a Nation States Tariffs. 14 minutes ago, Michael Hardner said: Does anyone like this gentleman? 😂 Herbie? Not really. 2 Quote

Stop being ridiculous The Premiers and Prime Minister were very clear that they would exclude US businesses from government contracts while tariffs are in effect punishing Canadian businesses. In addition Musk is part of the Trump Administration Quote

That is not how the article read, that this contract was being reneged on and no more would be allowed. Still, that is still the same point, that this is no longer a tit-for-tat measured response. This is an all-out embargo and a petty one at that, as they single out Musk for such ridicule. Quote

All GOVERNMENT contracts with US businesses are fair game that’s how trade wars work. But don’t worry breaking news Trump has backed down from his tariff threat so Musk and Americans get a reprieve. Canada's deep seated historical fear & loathing of the American republic at the gates has incited Canadians into an hysterical reactionary response even tho most Canadians no longer consider themselves to be "British" Canada is none the less a Victorian society, Queen Victoria is Mother Canada for Americans, it's "remember the Alamo !" for Canadians, it's "remember Queenston Heights !" culture is destiny Quote

Total Bullshit, Its obvious to EVERYONE that Dictator On Day One’s fabricated claims about the Canadian border were just a flimsy pretext to impose tariffs. 1) 0.2% of illegal immigrants and drugs are from Canada meanwhile Canada has endured American drugs guns and criminals coming north for generations 2) Canada didn’t refuse any requests to help more because no such requests were ever made. It was Trump who refused Canadas offer for help when we flew down to Mar-aLago and presented a $1.3Bn border plan just to appease him. 3) DODO couldn’t even articulate what exactly he wanted Canada to do or when he would consider the “emergency” over and as recently as Friday said there was nothing Canada could do to avoid the tariffs. As recently as last night he kept inventing new excuses for why he set the tariffs. Apparently it’s because of FALSE claim that we don’t allow US banks in Canada 4)DODO refused to even take Trudeaus call simce inauguration. But now after announcing our countermeasures he called JT TWICE IN ONE DAY, dropped the 51st state trolling crap and described his conversation as “pretty good”. 5) He claimed we owe USA hundreds of billions of dilapidated and the tariffs we’re supposed to make us pay up DODO’s “one month extension” in exchange for a token gesture from Canada is just his excuse to retreat from this whole issue. He knows his followers have the memory of a goldfish and won’t remember any of thi in one months time, especially with Super Bowl just around the corner. The bully came for Canada’s lunch money, we punched him in the nose and now he’s running away 1 hour ago, Dougie93 said: Canada's deep seated historical fear & loathing of the American republic at the gates has incited Canadians into an hysterical reactionary response even tho most Canadians no longer consider themselves to be "British" Canada is none the less a Victorian society, Queen Victoria is Mother Canada for Americans, it's "remember the Alamo !" for Canadians, it's "remember Queenston Heights !" culture is destiny And just like Queenston Heights, we’re victorious amd the Americans retreated. Nothing hysterical or reactionary about defending yourself when attacked and our victory speaks for itself. Quote
herbie Posted February 4 Author Report Posted February 4 Aww de big meanies picked on a private company! No we'll punch Trump's bum buddies in the face too. Ford never should've agreed to the deal in the first place, but being a f*cking conservative at heart all he could see was 'cheaper, cheaper'. Had to be backed into a corner to think of Canada's interests in telecommunications first. 1 Quote
