Trump has said he will impose tariffs on Feb 1. Even the government fell today and an election was called immediately, it can't happen for at least 37 days. We need to have a united response ready in eight days and all you can go on about is getting the Liberals out of office. PP says he is almost on the same page. WTF does that mean? He won't say.

It is true, he said Canada should become a state today at the WEF.

I get trumps dates for tariffs, and i get when we can have the election....We are not going to have a united response in 8 days...not sure why you can't see that....You forget parliament is prorogued until then,so anything requiring funding or new policy or new laws  is not going to happen anyways...we are going to eat tariffs regardless....Trump smells blood and he is going to get his pound of flesh....As for becoming the 51 st state we are making this way to easy for him aren't we....we are divided , we have a weak economy, weak dollar, weak leadership our government is not functioning....every department is broken.....please explain how we remedy that in 8 days....We have placed our faith in the liberal government for far to long...they need to go right now....

It means Conservative party is going to concentrate on all the points the liberals have screwed up and present a much better case than the liberals...he is not going to stop at a 1.35 billion con job on border security....he is going to fix what is broken....We would not be here if we as a nation took our responsibilities seriously....even now we are only doing the minimum to fix the problem....

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

they are just words...of course we are at our weakest right now, and trump has nothing to loose right now he knows he has 4 years, to do whatever he wants....he smells blood...and we gave him this opportunity on a golden platter...with a golden spoon....Thats all on the liberals....this is the consequences of elected this government 3 times...what did you think was going to happen, we already watched trump 1.0 we knew what he was like, Justin pissed him off many times, and now it's pay back....and justin is not going to pay like you say we are....Thats stand up and give a round of applause to the liberal/NDP governments...thanks

Trump really does not want Canada as the 51 st state we have more negatives than positives...

Parliament is prorogued but the government is still functioning. The government does not need Parliament to impose tariffs any more than Trump needs Congress..

You would have us helpless for three months while Trump does whatever he wants because you don’t like the Liberals. I don’t like them either but this is far more important than playing politics. Why should I trust a man who  puts partisanship above his country? I would be far more likely to support PP if he could show he is above that.

PP says he will fix what is broken. Talk is cheap, how is he going to do it?

This is the problem with PP. All he does is s**t on Trudeau and the Liberal. He has literally offered zero solutions to any of the problems Canada is facing. If he bothered to do this, I may actually vote for him.

The government is not functioning as it should.

Prorogation effectively allows the prime minister to hit pause on Parliament. The government remains in power, but all parliamentary activity — from existing bills and committee work to studies and investigations — comes to a halt.

Yes. The prime minister, cabinet ministers and other executive staff are all still in their roles. Unless it requires new laws or new spending, they can continue business — though they will be perceived as politically weak when it comes to negotiating with a counterpart like U.S. president-elect Donald Trump.

The key difference is that, with Parliament now suspended, the federal government can't pass laws. Ottawa would have to respond to new tariffs another way — like enacting counter-tariffs, for example, since those don't need to be approved by Parliament to come into effect.

That's what happened when Trump imposed tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum products during his first presidency. Back then, the Trudeau government reacted with an order laying out counter-tariffs on U.S. steel and aluminum.

Still, one constitutional expert warned the government is politically weak.

"That's the real danger here.

You make it sound like i was somehow making this process more difficult....I had nothing to do with it, Justin is responsible...just as he is responsible for the current state of the country, why we are so weak, his actions are why we are in this position right now....And you right i despise everything about the liberals, me and more than 50 % of the country...And no i don't trust him or his MP to fix anything about this issue, YOU have to ask yourself does the liberals have a track record of improving our nation, getting things done...not really...

Your right talk is cheap, remember sunny ways, and all his promises....broken dreams... So will PP fix everything, i can't say for sure, i hope he does improve on many things...all i know is this country needs a change, and if not PP then who, the NDP, green party,

Compared to what, America's?

And ours has been a mess for decades.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Simply not true, and that's your answer for everything as to why Justin has failed. No matter what the subject is you try and claim it's been a mess for decades.

Our government functioned very well under harper. Minority, majority, didn't matter it functioned well. It function well under chretien. You may not have liked all his policies but the government worked and it worked well. And so on

In fact our government has been a fairly well-oiled machine for quite some time until Justin came along. Suddenly the airports didn't work, passports didn't work, problems like crazy with unemployment and so on and so forth programs, everything takes way too long to respond to when there's any kind of Crisis, the rest of the world responds in Hours and we respond in weeks

And now, the government is completely dysfunctional even by justin's liberal standards. He has personally crippled us at a time when we needed to be our strongest

So no, not for decades. For Justin. And never more for Justin than right now.

Canada  needs leaders now, not politicians. Scary that the only people stepping up right now are Trudeau and Ford.

Your right which is why we need an election right now...Whats scary is justin and ford are preparing to do battle with the worlds largest economy thinking they are going to win....we are but a flea on a rats a$$...think we have the resources to match anything they (US) could do to us...that's scary....

We have been ignoring the reason why we are facing tariffs in the first place, it was spelled out loud and clear, and instead of coming up with a detailed plan to fix it and using common sense , we are beating our chests and preparing to fight them tooth and nail....Everything is on the table.....Thats not stepping up or leadership thats suicide ....Thats scary that you think it is a good thing...

Both of my Grandparents fought in World War II. One was stationed in the UK. They were real Patriots who loved their country.  They would have died for Canada, if need be.

I am not in the military, but I can just imagine how underfunded it is, when clowns like you serve. I can't imagine serving my country, and be so quick to betray it, at the first sign of a real crisis.  How do you live with yourself?

Good for your grandparents....Back then the country had their militaries backs, they had the country's full support..which was lost decades ago, today the average canadian does not give a sh!t about it's military or people that served...your an example of that

I served this nation, I've seen Canadian soldiers killed or wounded in combat, only to have to come back to our nation and fight the government in court for basic medical needs, I heard our PM tell a soldier we are asking for more than we can provide...this after running one of the largest deficits that same year....Canada pays it's veterans 20 cents on the dollar when compared to WWII vets.... Our government has said to the public the last veterans were from the korean war, and todays vets are not entitled to the same Veterans benefits...A Afghanistan vet who lost both legs to and IED still need to prove every year that his legs have not grown back just to receive his current benefits... I would suggest going to a Veterans affairs website, and read some of the complaints Canadian vets are having  or just research how many court cases veterans have still outstanding and then tell me Canada has their backs....

I served my country, for 35 years, been to alot of the worlds sh!t holes....and was under the assumption that if we came home broken they would look after all of us... well not all of us have been looked after....the sad part about it is you and Most canadians already know this, that Canada betrayed us...not the other way around...and sat around and did nothing...just let it happen....

So don't pretend your a loyal Canadian, who supports our military, your just a wanna be...who does not have the qualities it takes to serve...How do i live with myself, i do all right, i take a pocket full of meds to sleep , i have access to free prescription weed, and i volunteer at a private veterans center and local food bank...I'm own my own home , i pay my taxes, and spend my time with my grandchildren, fishing and hunting....What is it that you have done to serve the nation again? ...thats what i thought...your more of a chirper than a do'er
