Whos really to blame for the LA wildfire? Donnie or Gavin Newscum who diverts water from its natural path into the ocean and refuses to do any sort of wildfire/forestry management because of faulty woke ideology?

For wildfires in that part of the world there are immediate causes like downed power lines, lightning strikes and arson, and underlying ones like abundant dried vegetation and unusually strong Santa Ana winds. Obviously, it’s hard to exclude the role climate change is playing here which makes for more vegetation, drier vegetation and stronger winds.

There are a lot of layers to this. Some can be blamed on politicians and some can't. However for those who think that the water in the North flows to the South obviously have never been to CA. The rivers that feed into LA do not start at Lake Tahoe or anywhere north of that. This is why they have the Owens Valley Project which takes water from the Eastern Sierras (Bishop, Lee Vining) and sends it to LA.

Governments make mistakes but anybody who thinks another government could have prevented all these fires is living in a dream world. Nature is telling us that certain parts of the globe, eg, Southern California and Southern Florida, are not meant for the vast numbers of people currently there and will become much more hostile in the coming decades.

The issue with the hydrants was that they were prepared for 3 million gallons which is more than enough... 99% of the time. the actual demand on that day was in excess of 12 million gallons. So no the hydrants were not deliberately shut off. Yes, 200 of the 1100 went dry because they were not equipped to give full water allotment to each. The logistics of this date back to the 1960's when LA was fairly Conservative..

Even IF we accept the climate change alarmism from the left... OK, so what?

Is your plan that we have to wait 100 years for the climate change plans to slowly curb the increase in global warming to work?

How about we acknowledge that these areas in California are dry, they are prone to high winds and fire risk, and oh... I don't know, maybe have some better fire prevention and fighting plans in place to deal with these when they do happen. 

Those are things we can change right now. Having water in fire hydrants is something that can be changed right now. Having a better quick reaction force, air craft, and firefighters to get in fast to stop these from growing is something we can do now. Increasing budgets for firefighters, focusing on the mission of putting out fires instead of diversity hires, is something we can do now.

there is no quantifiable evidence that the DEI hires in the LA fire department came up short on this. The fire hydrants running dry was not their call (and never has been). The decision to only have 3 million gallons available (which is more than enough most of the time) comes from a different place (hint.. it is not the governor).

Unfortunately, you are wrong about that and there’s no room for debate any more. The scientific evidence is overwhelming. Man-made climate change is a grim reality and it’s only going to get much worse. Anybody living in the likes of LA or Southern Florida would be well advised to get out now if they can.

They came up short in that they take away from the primary focus of what we have firefighters for. 

Fire departments exist to fight fires, not promote DEI. 

When everyone is spending $$$, time, and resources on DEI and putting that in their bio as what they are focused on, that is all the less $$$, time, and resources... and focus, that is not on fighting fire.

Most state governors do not know the finer details of the water system. Our state governor in Nevada has no clue either. As for the mayor, I can't speak to that. She may have known of their only having 3 million gallons available. The reservoirs in the LA water shed are not full but are doing better than in years past. Also... the water that LA uses does not from the San Joaquin/Sacramento/Lake Tahoe so any dumb comments about the smelt are just dumb. Yes, they do get water from the Sierras but you have to look South for that.. ie Owens Valley Project.

Janisse Quiñones, the newly appointed chief executive officer and chief engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. This is who makes the call on the available water supply for hydrants. As for diverting water.. you should look at a map. The smelt is in the San Joaquin (Stockton, Sacramento, Fairfield).. that's a long ways from LA.

Now as for the state's forest management, that is a problem. That was not relevant here because it was a very urban setting. The forest management policies are bad but only because they did not prioritize it. Lack of funding sent that way. They have slowly started to change their ways though. You see crews in Plumas, Lassen, and Modoc County often clearing underbrush and having controlled burns.
