Sounds like political suicide.

Pulls up a chair...

"Let me tell you about the 90s, son.  And a cute gal named Kim Campbell... And a guy named Jean who won people's hearts by promising to tear up that nasty GST"

Yes I remember it.

To return to my OP, the US is a Ponzi scheme: its total government debt (federal/state) is above 100% and rising faster than US GDP.

In Canada, our government (federal.provincial) debt to GDP ratio is rising also - but ours is well below 100%, and Quebec has a Caisse.

Unlike America, our debt/GDP ratio is less than our GDP growth. Unlike America, Canada is cold - we have fewer homeless people. And unlike America, our governments have no one rich to tax,

That's just not true.

Canada's wealth distribution is highly unequal, with the wealthiest households holding the majority of the country's wealth:

The top 1% of families hold about 25.6% of Canada's wealth, which is roughly $3 trillion. That's about 87000 families I believe.

In the second quarter of 2024, the wealthiest 20% of households held 67.7% of Canada's total net worth, averaging $3.4 million per household.

The least wealthy 40% of households held 2.8% of Canada's total net worth, averaging $69,595 per household.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Canada is cold. Unlike California, we will never have a homeless problem.

Tax?

Everyone around the world knows that the federal Canadian government will never have an Elon Musk, Steve Jobs to tax.

The US government borrows at lower rates than our federal government - lower even than Hydro-Québec.
