But this question cannot be shrugged off and ignored either: can it be the new normal, and standard of American politics from now and on? Should it be? Where will it lead, and end? There's nothing normal about one of the candidates. This fact cannot be ignored and forgotten. Can a pathological, sick liar be the leader of a functional and functioning democracy? Can we just forget everything and pretend that nothing happened? There's no ignoring this question because if we do, it will stay here and will come back with more, and more. If it isn't condemned and dismissed now by the society, it will be the new normal. And then, we would absolutely see more of it, and worse. Among many issues, the sane America has a choice to make. It will not go away. And it has nothing to do with partisan, ideological or any other lines. It's very simple and entirely present: what is normal, in politics? Do true Americans really want a spiritually/morally/intellectually stunted bumbling psychopath running this country? The answer, of course, is F*CK NO! Quote

impartialobserver Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 There are three outcomes. 1. Trump wins and the left whines for a few months and then we get another Trump admin and things go about the same way as last time. 2. Trump loses but not close.. uproar, whining, chest puffing but largely goes away in a few months. 3. Trump loses but close.. we get another stop the steal and some disruption to the usual procedures/timeline. If Trump loses again, my guess is that he will be back in 2028. Quote
myata Posted September 5, 2024 Author Report Posted September 5, 2024 (edited) The silliest of illusions is that this kind of travesty can just happen and then it'll go back to normal - the old normal. No way it would: it would be the new normal. How and why wouldn't it? And then someone some time will push it another notch down where? to Venezuela? Remember, we were already at a stolen election and violent protests. And what would be a notch or two down? Don't even dream! Honestly I feel this transcends trump the democrats and republicans have been coming more polarized for quite some time now. Trump didn't start that mess he just does well in that mess. I think no matter who wins the other side will think It was rigged and I think replacing the actors on stage won't change the dynamic of the next go around. Whoever replaces trump will be worse than trump ever was according to the democrats and whoever replaces kamala will be an even bigger scumbag according to the republicans I think we will see more violence and more disruptive behavior moving forward regardless of who wins. For Americans This is ceased to become about the issues or policy or anything like that and it's simply Red versus blue. That always ends badly Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data
