Trump pledges to eliminate taxes on tips for service workers during Las Vegas rally

Former President Donald Trump's "hot streak" continued in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the former president made a "big promise" during his rally Sunday. Just miles from the Las Vegas Strip, Trump pledged to eliminate taxes on tips for service workers if elected in November.

"This is the first time I've said this and for those hotel workers and people that get tips, you're going to be very happy, because when I get to office we are going to not charge taxes on tips, people making tips... It's been a point of contention for years and years and years, and you do a great job of service, you take care of people, and I think it's going to be something that really is deserved," Trump said.

Talking points, since it's going to look like I'm all over the place on this one.

1. How large a voting demographic is the tipped worker?

Most tipped employees are young upwardly mobile (hopefully) individuals. Do they vote? That's the big question. Will LEGALLY ELECTED PRESIDENT TRUMP get a lot of votes from this group?

2. Heavily tipped voters in resort areas. Florida, Trump has OWNED from Day One and he'll carry it no matter what. But would this promise get a bunch of registered Democrat resort workers to the polls to vote for him?

3. This could definitely flip Nevada and make it blue, with the vast numbers of tipped workers in Vegas.

4. How difficult would it be for President Trump to keep this promise? He has to get it past Congress, and we know that Democrats are a bunch of tax hungry NAZIS who had no problems raising taxes on Social Security recipients, (which is the largest voting bloc in the country.) Right now, the Nazi Democrats would kill themselves before they gave President Trump ANY victory in Congress, even though it would really help the country.

5. Is getting rid of this oppressive tax on the lower middle class going to help anyone other than the lower middle class? Yes, it will eliminate a MAJOR pain in the @ss for tipped wait staff and bartenders when it comes to declaring tips.

Is anyone here thinking cutting off this tax will affect the budget?

Is anyone here thinking that tipped workers keeping more of THEIR MONEY and spending it might tick off a new round of inflation?

(I doubt that last part because tipped dollars are already in the M1 money supply. Inflation is ONLY caused by printing more dollars and flooding the M1 market iwth them.)

I doubt that many declare tips anyway.

According to this, revenue from tips is half of 1%, so it won't require big spending cuts.

And I also don't think it's going to change a lot of people's minds. But it's definitely good politics for him to make this promise.

The standard here for those in that service industry is that you must declare another 10% of your income as tips to avoid being investigated. That's what a CGA or competent tax filer will insist on doing.
On top of that, BC had a lower minimum wage for servers under our previous scumbag govt.

1 it's hard to say, tipping isn't consistent in all industries.  But there's 14 million in food services, the hotel industry is about 1.3 million who might get tips or are at least friends with those who do, and those are probably the biggest.

That's a good hunk of voters right there, and they'll all have husbands and wives and boy/girl friends and family and such who may be happy to see them get ahead financially.

4 - pretty easy. but he'll have to be careful - such a move would likely cause some stimulation of the economy and you wouldn't want to see inflation go up. But if the economy is slowing it might be a great idea

Are you STUPID enough to think a wage that one can live on is a communist wage?

Are you just a plain Mor0n?
