Since it began public hearings at the end of March, the inquiry has heard repeatedly that through the 2019 and 2021 campaigns, there were many who suspected China in particular was seeking to interfere to its advantage, but it was impossible to make a direct link. The 2023 briefing note’s decisive language serves up a stark contrast and prompted several lawyers at the inquiry on Monday to demand the return of Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and other witnesses for additional questioning. Trudeau had previously suggested he didn't know details about it. We now know that's a lie. Justin trudeau knowingly allowed the chinese gov't to interfere to help him win seats even tho it may lead to influence with the politicians in question. I'm sure eyeball will be along shortly to tell us why it's all harper's fault 1 Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data
blackbird Posted April 9, 2024 Report Posted April 9, 2024 Yet we regularly hear Trudeau and others say it had no impact on the election overall. What a disgusting point of view. They have no respect for the democratic rights of Canadians. I thought the motto was every vote counts. If one particular candidate is defeated because of Chinese Communist Party interference that is a very serious matter. It means Canada's electoral system has been undermined and Canadians cannot trust the system. It is possible that a number of candidates lost because of foreign interference. This could have a serious impact on important close votes in the House of Commons. So yes it could have a serious impact on the overall outcome of an election. The spy agency and government authorities responsible for overseeing the election for fairness are not doing their job properly. The question is what should be done now? 2 Quote

What a disgusting point of view. well it very clearly did have an impact. But even more than that - it also has an impact on the gov't moving forward. CSIS has reported that a number of the 'volunteers' and advisers that help the candidate are working for the newly elected liberal mp's were paid for by the chinese - and now are in positions of trust and influence with that mp and you've got a paid chinese puppet controlling information and colouring the perception of the elected mp. That's terrible. Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data
QuebecOverCanada Posted April 9, 2024 Report Posted April 9, 2024 This foreign interference sure warrants a complete freeze on the elected Liberals' bank accounts, right? Right? 1 1 Quote

WestCanMan Posted April 9, 2024 Report Posted April 9, 2024 Quote the 2021 election featured campaigns intended to deter Canadians, especially those “of Chinese heritage,” from backing the Conservative party, then-leader Erin O’Toole, and B.C. Conservative candidate Kenny Chiu. Of course they left that part out of the headline lol. Does this surprise anyone? Doesn't it just confirm everything that we already know? I'm not gonna get all hissy about this, Canada and the US interfere in elections, democracies, etc all over the world, so imo it's actually normal for China to do it as well. Of course they wanted the feckless dolt to win, and of course our feckless dolt lied about the whole scenario, and in return he did everything that he could to protect China from negative associations with covid. Noe of that changes my impression of Trudeau at all.
