A seemingly and suspiciously polite Trump and his newest attorneys have filed a Motion to Stay the Courts collection by the Independent Director of Compliance appointed by the Court to dissolve and sell iff his companys assets and hus available funds to pay the over $450 million dollar judgement of the civil fraud trial he lost and the E. G. Cartoon take trial he also lost.....giving no  legal reason at all in his document except to "request  a 30 day stay".

Judge Engoron was not moved by Trump's request and Trump MUST post at least a $5 million cash bond to even file the Appeal and has NOT done that either since he seems not to want to post it from his own pocket and no one will stand in surety FOR him and guarantee he'd pay it back.....so much for his claims of being a billionaire....his followers are getting a rude awakening  that it is indeed THEIR MONEY that he has been using to maintain his billionaire image and keep still another fantasy of his life out of  their knowledge.  The billionaire has no money, and no one will loan him any on his very empty promises and lies.

I didn’t read anything in Engoron’s order allowing Trump to post only $5 million. He needs to cough up about $450 million or more, in cash, to file an appeal.

Can someone examine how that is fair. What if you get a judgement you can't afford and you want to appeal are you just SOL.

You can get a bond. But I doubt anyone would be dumb enough to write a half billion dollar bond for a fraudster like this guy.

Let’s consider Trump’s case: The judge made a summary judgement ruling back in August. That’s when Trump knew he lost the case. So he had about six months to put together cash for his appeal. If he were to file a motion with this court or the appellate court showing that he’d put together $100 or $200 million, and explained the steps he’s taking to liquidate more assets for the remainder, then I’m pretty sure the court would give him the time. But for the guy to act as though he’s been blindsided and unwilling to put up any cash at all, after stating in sworn deposition (under penalty of perjury) that he had $400 million in cash… no deal.

So I don’t see how it’s unfair. What’s more, Judge Engoron’s ruling is well-written and thorough, and Trump’s lawyers have yet to explain to anyone what he will base any appeal on. You can’t file an appeal and whine that “It’s unfair! Wah Wah! Boo Hoo!” You need to point out a specific fault in the judge’s actions or decisions. Given the extreme hostility Trump exhibited towards this judge throughout the case, I think the judge was very calm and as impartial as possible, knowing full well that he’d throw the book at him when the time came. So he bided his time, threw the book at him, and he did it with a solid, carefully written ruling. Unfair? I think that’s what you get when you spend months insulting and threatening a judge, his family, and his staff. Trump’s lucky the judge didn’t throw him in jail.

OTC, How is it fair that someone can just delay paying what he owes by filing appeal after appeal?

That's just getting a LOAN from the taxpayers.

A loan? The taxpayers haven't paid for anything and they are owed nothing. Nothing Trump did effected them at all. He borrowed money and paid it back with interest. The bank wasn't hurt and the bank even said they did their due diligence and they didn't see that his valuations were off what they thought they should be. The only people that thought his valuations were off were people who knew nothing about real estate.

It isn't changing anything because the state doesn't get the money until the appeals are exhausted anyway. Lets face it that money won't go to taxpayers it will go to the illegals Joe Biden has let in.

The court says Trump's FRAUD cost the public taxpayer money.

Your OPINION means nothing in this case.

The ESCROW earns INTEREST during the appeals process. Duh

Delaying complying with the order means the public is denied that interest.

No reason to believe the damages will be reduced to ZERO.

You figure the taxpayers investigators, prosecutors/lawyers court staff/clerks/judges etc etc are free?

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Too bad Judge Engoron didn't throw him and his whole family and his attorneys and the CFO of the Trump Organization in prison until the next in line of the Trump Organization paid everything due in both the Civil trials. I think also, seriously, the whole family are flight risks. Didn't the New York Court pull Trumps passport?  I thought I read that somewhere recently.

Trump lied to obtain more favorable terms (save himself money). That necessarily raises costs for ALL OTHER CUSTOMERS.

Quote

NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James today filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump, the Trump Organization, senior management, and involved entities for engaging in years of financial fraud to obtain a host of economic benefits. The lawsuit alleges that Donald Trump, with the help of his children Donald Trump, Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump, and senior executives at the Trump Organization, falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to induce banks to lend money to the Trump Organization on more favorable terms than would otherwise have been available to the company, to satisfy continuing loan covenants, to induce insurers to provide insurance coverage for higher limits and at lower premiums, and to gain tax benefits, among other things. From 2011-2021, Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization knowingly and intentionally created more than 200 false and misleading valuations of assets on his annual Statements of Financial Condition to defraud financial institutions.
