Rebound Posted January 15, 2024 Report Posted January 15, 2024 The “fiscally conservative” Republicans decided they didn’t like the green enameled background of their official Congressional pins. These identity pins are issued at the beginning of every two-year session of Congress. But since they wanted pins with blue backgrounds, the fiscally conservative Republicans spent $40,000 taxpayer dollars on a fresh new set of lapel pins. Do as I say, not as I do. They’ll shut down the government over excessive spending, except when it’s for their own vanity. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/12/us/politics/house-member-pins.html https://twitter.com/SeanCasten/status/1745092119306416437 Quote @reason10: “Hitler had very little to do with the Holocaust.”
Michael Hardner Posted January 15, 2024 Report Posted January 15, 2024 (edited) That is literally peanuts. Wait... no it's not... Peanuts cost the US govt $1B-$2B give or take. https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN0TC0BV/ I am opposed to this kind of nit-picking in politics. Check out his site: https://www.vivek2024.com/ The President has no control over Congress’ discretionary spending. He’s either lying or ignorant if he thinks the President has that level of control. (PS — The more they promise to cut spending, the more they increase spending. Odd, but true. Reagan, Bush and Trump all talked about balanced budget and spending cuts, and those three increased spending and deficit spending by the greatest rates.) I'm not saying that Vivek has direct control. What I am saying is that he can set a new precedent for political leadership. They ALL don't have to be a$$holes in their own bubbles. Quote
CdnFox Posted January 15, 2024 Report Posted January 15, 2024 This just isn't an issue. If either side was that worried about it, they'd go with NO pins and save that every two years. Politicians are going to spend small amounts on this kind of crap, it just doesn't really matter. Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."
Legato Posted January 15, 2024 Report Posted January 15, 2024 The straw clutching from the Dems is becoming much more difficult, especially now they're just made out of cardboard. Quote

Your defense of every stupid thing Republicans do is pathetic. I'm a strong defender of Israel, but when someone says, "What about those West Bank settlements?"... My response is that those settlements are wrong. The difference between you and me is that I can tell right from wrong. You just blindly drivel out a defense of every stupid thing every stupid Republican does. Heck, you wouldn't even criticize George Santos for a year, would you? How hard is it to figure out that the guy was a fraud? You are a cult member. You have given up your thinking, your judgement and your morals. You have no sense of right and wrong, only devotion to a cult. Edited January 17, 2024 by Rebound Quote @reason10: “Hitler had very little to do with the Holocaust.”

See, @Legato? That’s how it’s done. This cult-like “my side never ever does anything wrong” is ridiculous. Quote @reason10: “Hitler had very little to do with the Holocaust.”

Now, go look at the US Treasury website, and you’ll see that deficit spending always increases the most when Republicans are in the White House. The only exception was the first George Bush, and he still didn’t pass a single balanced budget. Edited January 18, 2024 by Rebound Quote @reason10: “Hitler had very little to do with the Holocaust.”

Here' you go: As you can clearly see, the biggest deficits BY FAR have been under the democrats. Obama ran massive massive deficits, trumps years were much lower than his even with the first covid year in there - then biden is nothing short of astronomical even after covid was over. Sorry - but the dems are definitely the big spenders in the room deficit wise by a landslide Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."
