In English-Canada, the CBC is clueless.

1. Some young urban Canadians need help.

2. Many rural Canadians need help.

Radio-Canada:

3. In Quebec, sorta works.

4. Outside Quebec, Radio-Canada is a life-line

I still remember tuning in CBC radio miles away at sea at night after a days fishing on the west coast. Oh well, they took fishing away so they might as well take CBC away too.

One day Quebec will be all that's left of Canada.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

In your view, Trudeau Snr was correct.

We are a federal state with two official languages. But we have no official cultural.

Thats bullshit we have culture, it may not be as loud or proud as American culture but we do have a check in the culture block...We may have stolen most of it but we made it ours....we have the beaver, moose, hockey, broomball, maple syrup, pancakes, the loonie, twonie, under ground rail road, we have stood as a nation in both great wars, and every conflict after wards...we are warriors, some of the first peace keepers, the list goes on and on...we have our own culture...but it is slowly being destroyed to make us more diverse...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Agreed. We the people of Canada live in a federal State - with two official federal languages.

But we have no official culture.

We Canadians live in a bilingual, multi-cultural, federal State.

====

"Culture" is a personal affair.

Agreed, we Canadians have created a wondrous, uh, culture.

We can do this now with our phones, by Internet.

August, in 1918 no one could imagine world peace. In 1989, no one could imagine the Soviet Union going away.

Imagination is important.

Disagree. In 1912, no one in the elite could imagine what was about to happen.

How is coming up with another example disagreeing with me?

Unless you're saying imagination is not important. And that would be strange coming from someone who posts the most imaginative material on here.

They don't have the internet and smartphones in Quebec?

And you'd have to do it with a satellite connection offshore.  Presumably Quebec doesn't allow Anglais satellites to cross over their airspace.

Quebec (and Canada) is a broad geography.

Some of us are different.

I posted this elsewhere:

-The CBC/Radio-Canada receives about $1.2 billion each year from Canadian taxpayers and has some 8,000 people working.

-Montreal's STM has about 11,000 employees. In Zone A, it costs $3.75 to take the metro.

============

All things considered, we metro users get more benefit than Radio-Canada.

Sorry. I would give everyone at CBC English a generous cash-out - except maybe the technical people and a few in local places.

=====

In English, no one - no one - watches CBC on TV.. Clueless.

The CBC is not BBC.

No one will watch the CBC in English because it'll only be in Quebec.

The CBC should not be the QBC.

In many places, maybe, -lower North Shore, for example- the English CBC should exist.

To me, Radio-Canada and CBC should provide language service....

Around the world., we Canadians send signals....

======

Maybe we just let the Quebec government decide culture... Radio-Quebec.
