I think it's quite clear who the Bad is... it's Mr. Paul "jackass" Martin. Martin is nothing but a pathetic weasel trying to buy votes with lies. His whole party stands for 'liberty' but they have a record of 'crap-perty'. I cant stand that guy. He is a damn liar, its that simple. Do not trust his bull.

The Ugly is clearly Mr. Layton (In both politics and looks--- lol) Mr.Layton is starting to fight dirty becuase he knows his only strength is Toronto, and hes making sure they dont vote Conservative. In one hand he says "My party will work with the Tories to make sure we get things done. After the Gomery Report I do not want to work with the corrupt Liberals". Fine--- thats fair enough. But then the dirty part comes. "The tories have no chance in Toronto, they have as much chance as a jay walker crossing the 401" Ouch!!! Why Jack!!?? His whole image thusfar has been fair politics. Now all the sudden he resorts to this! That is crap! Telling Torontorians to stay away from the Tories in one hand, but on the other saying he wants to work with them... Ugly Jack... Ugly Jack.

And here comes my favourite... the Good. None other the Mr. Stephen Harper. I truly feel that Stephen has what it takes to be Prime Minister. He has the look. He has the youthfullness (hes only 46 years old!) And hes got the HONESTY. Stephen will say it flat out--- Cut the Gst to 5%, Give Parents a $1200 a year bonus for each child under 6, More money for armed forces--- these are all solid, and amazing plans. The tories have always been my favourites. They always have that clean look of honesty. Thanks to Mr. Harris (Premiere of Ontario a while back) He made teachers stay after school to help kids... genious!!! The Tories are the only party showing the love for family, and traditional marriage. I myself am not a gay basher, but I truly believe marriage is between a Man and a Woman. (Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve)

On january 23rd please dont be a fool. If you live in Quebec and do not want to seperate, vote Conservative not Liberal. If you live anywhere else and are gonna vote Liberal because you want to give Paul "Jackass" Martin another chance, DONT!!! Please--- change your vote to Conservative. They are the onkly party looking towards a positive future. NDP is a very good party... but this time around a vote for the NDP could make Paul "Jackass" Martin Prime Minister again. Jack Layton already agreed hed rather see a Minority Conservative then a Minority Liberal.

Please vote Conservative, its the only way to a clean, honest, bright future.

Uh...why the hell would the leader of a political party in the midst of an election campaign tell voters to vote for a party other than his own, especially when the parties in question stand on the opposite end of the political spectrum? It's clear you think the sun shines out of Harper's hindquarters, but think about it.

Funny thing is that Harper has said basically the same. He has said that he would work with the NDP if the CPC win a minority but at the same time, he tells BC voters to stay away from the NDP.

Stephen will say it flat out--- Cut the Gst to 5%, Give Parents a $1200 a year bonus for each child under 6, More money for armed forces--- these are all solid, and amazing plans.

Cutting the GST will mainly benefit the rich, lower and middle class will only see minimum benefits. In my opinion, the best thing is too cut income tax (on a bracketed scale...the higher the income, the lower the % cut) and to completely cut the GST on selected items such as children's clothing and books. This will give people more money than a 1 or 2% GST cut. Giving parents $1200 a year for children sounds good in principle but, consider this, daycare often costs $200 or more a week, and for families with two working parents, this is the only option. So with $1200, the parents can pay for daycare for 6 weeks. How about the other 46 weeks of the year??? Wrong approach. I agree with more money for the armed forces as I believe all the parties do. The only difference is on how it is done.

Hey, I would try to sway Liberals and Conservatives to vote NDP but I wouldn't call them fools if they didn't vote NDP. Everyone has a right to vote whatever the way they please and I would think no less of people who voted with their conscience or towards a party that best matches his/her ideology.

In regards to your argument for people to vote Conservative, I have to counter with this. No matter if there is a minority Liberal or a Conservative govt., vote NDP to send members to Parliament to moderate and keep the government in line and perhaps even influence budgets that help students, the poverty-stricken, parents, seniors and others. But if you don't vote NDP, I'm just glad you used your right as a Canadian citizen to vote and for that i salute you.

It's this simple:

A vote for the NDP is a vote for the Liberals, because people who vote Liberal will stay Liberal, people who vote Conservative will stay Conservative, it's gonna come down to the people who vote NDP and the undicided voters.

If you want Paul "Jackass" Martin out of power, vote Conservative. Jack Layton and Stephen Harper will work together to make Canada the country it once was.

Nice try. But no. If ND's go Conservative, that increases the Cons chances of a majority. And no NDP supporter wants that. So my vote will stay with the NDs.

Do you atleast admit that the Conservatives are a much better choice then the Liberals? Jack layton said himself: "I want to work with the Tories to get results, I am sick of all the corruption from the Liberal party"

Better it stays with the NDs than it goes to the Liberals. Stick to it though. In spite of the oncoming wave of the CPC is *scary* *scary* *scary* ads from the Liberals.

as much as I would like to see it, there is basically *ZERO* chance for a CPC majority, so that shouldn`t even be in the equation for making a decision.

Harper the good? What a crock. He would do and say anything to move into 24 Sussex Drive.... anything!!!

Stephen Harper's big promises of the day:

"Providing an army emergency response capability through the new airborne battalion and airlift capacity stationed at CFB Trenton to provide a rapid emergency response capability throughout the entire Arctic region."

And this "is exactly what Harper and company were promising back in the spring.

"In the by-election.

"In Labrador.

"For CFB Goose Bay.

"One assumes, solely for the sake of argument, that the Trenton promise is entirely unrelated to both (a) the results of the 2004 general election in the riding of Northumberland-Quinte West, and ( B) the results of the 2005 by-election in the riding of Labrador."

Ouch.

A vote for the NDP is a vote for the NDP, pretty basic stuff.

If you want Paul Martin out of power vote anything but Liberal, be it NDP, Conservative or Greens.

Rovik:

Nonsense. The lower and middle class spend a higher proportion of their income on GST than the wealthy.

In my opinion, the best thing is too cut income tax (on a bracketed scale...the higher the income, the lower the % cut)

Tax the brightest and ambitious higher. That's worked well in Europe, hasn't it? Why are they always complaining about their brain-drain to the US?

What great motivation! Work hard and try to get ahead in life...and when you do, we will tax the crap out of you.

Another example: A couple of years ago, there was a write-up (with pics) in the Star-Phoenix profiling the top 47 graduates at the Univeristy of Saskatchewan for that year. These were the smartest and the hardest-working students. They will likely go on to make a very good living and pay lots of taxes to the govt. All of them already had jobs waiting fot them.

42 of the 47 had jobs waiting for them in.....Alberta....that province with no PST, a flat tax rate, and a Basic Personal Amount of $14,532. We educate 'em so the Alberta govt can collect their large tax payments. Good deal....for the Alberta govt.

and to completely cut the GST on selected items such as children's clothing and books.

A good proposal.

Giving parents $1200 a year for children sounds good in principle but, consider this, daycare often costs $200 or more a week

What about stay-at-home mothers (or even fathers, I suppose)? What about parents that have grandma look after the kids? Don't you think parents should have the choice of who should look after their kids while they are at work?

Your solution is to implement a state-run unionized-govt-worker-run system where they will go on strike at the drop of a hat. Have you forgotten about the 7000 Quebec daycare workers who went on strike the first year and held up the public for a fat raise? Have you forgotten how much the Quebec state-daycare system ended up costing--compared to what it was supposed to cost?

I disagree.

It's not a matter of punishment, it's a matter of finacial survival. Someone making a high salary can afford a slightly higher tax bracket. Someone who is making say $20000, needs every little bit to survive day to day (food, electricity...the basics) so to help them survive, they are put into a lower tax bracket. Seems like the just thing to do to me.

Alberta has been very lucky considering the oil and gas reserves in the province. Because of this, they have a huge advantage over the rest of the provinces and don't require the taxes for basic govt. services because of the royalties from the oil companies.

What about stay-at-home mothers (or even fathers, I suppose)?  What about parents that have grandma look after the kids?  Don't you think parents should have the choice of who should look after their kids while they are at work?.

What about if they have no choice. How about a single Mom going to a university in a town where she has no family. What happens when the $1200 runs out, where will she bring her child?

Your solution is to implement a state-run unionized-govt-worker-run system where they will go on strike at the drop of a hat.  Have you forgotten about the 7000 Quebec daycare workers who went on strike the first year and held up the public for a fat raise?  Have you forgotten how much the Quebec state-daycare system ended up costing--compared to what it was supposed to cost?

Thye have the right, just like any person in a union to ask for better wages and I'm sure they wouldn't go on strike at the drop of a hat. There would be much negotiation before that, and I say this would take place over some time. Obviously the Quebec govt. underestimated the cost (maybe to have had a balanced budget in a previous year, who knows.) Perhaps the administration was bloated or perhaps ran haphazardly. Maybe there wasn't any contingencies or risk management put into the orginal estimates of the plan.
