As to the act and the other things he did to increase transparancy, they worked pretty well. THe budget officer has corrected many falsehoods over the years and as you're aware snc happened because of harper's new laws preventing back room deals like that, unfortunately some of it was just ignroed or dismantled by the libs, such as the judge selection process, But it was a good step forward, hopefully we'll see further gains in the future. I doubt very much that you have. You're not even talking about the same thing now. As to the 'how', you pass foreign agent registry laws as a very first step. So if you're acting in teh interests of a foreign nation you must register with the gov't. That wipes out a lot of these 'chinese police stations' and such, and anyone acting on behalf of china or in it's interest who didn't register can be arrested and charged That would include anyone here communicating to put pressure on a politician to vote a certain way or the like if it benefits china. Or any other nation. Laws like this have proven effective elsewhere. They make it hard for china to send people over here because nobody wants to get arrested and doing so would be embarrassing to china. Other changes can follow that. In the end i'd like to see something independant of the gov't that has the power and authority to investigate any foeign interference in the political process and produce reports to apporpriate all party committees rather than just the PM and to have the power to lay charges without the pm's permission.
